Interviews with Andrea Rossi and Alexandros Xanthoulis of Defkalion

This is being reported by several sources.

Interviews with Andrea Rossi and Alexandros Xanthoulis of Defkalion Featured by admin Following Defkalion’s recent press conference Andrea Rossi and Alexandros Xanthoulis of Defkalion were interviewed by representatives from the Italian engineering company Phizero. Rossi’s interview is rather short, but he discusses his contract with the University of Bologna. Xanthoulis answers questions about Defkalion’s operations. You can see the video here. Some of the points that Xanthoulis makes are: Defkalion will not sell it’s products for military use. Defkalion is in negotiations to sell products to the United States (right now Ampenergo has exclusive rights to the US market). Defkalion is currently preparing industrial E-Cats and is currently designing a 3.4 MW plant for industrial use.Home based E-Cats will also be produced at lower power levels. A separate distribution network will be required to install and service E-Cats — Defkalion will be only producing the E-Cats. They have 12 levels of security built in, and they will try to protect the trade secrets, but Xanthoulis is expecting that people will copy the technology. They are selling it cheaply to provide a disincentive for piracy (as well as because they have “social ideas”.

Interviews with Rossi and Xanthoulis June 29, 2011 by Ivy Matt

Nearly a week after Defkalion Green Technologies S.A. held its press conference in Palaio Faliro, there appears to be no mention of the event in the mainstream media, perhaps the nearest thing being mentions of Andrea Rossi and the E-Cat in the comments to a CNET article on high-energy plasma fusion at MIT. Even DGT itself, which promised a video of the event with English subtitles on Monday or Tuesday of this week, has failed to deliver so far. The company has, however, recently released some information regarding press conference attendance on its website.

Meanwhile, Phizero, the producer of “Low Energy Nuclear Revolution”, has released a new video containing footage of interviews with Andrea Rossi and DGT board member Alexandros Xanthoulis, conducted after the press conference:

The first interview, with Andrea Rossi, is very brief, and mostly concerns his research contract with the University of Bologna. According to Rossi the research will be conducted over two years, with the first results expected in one year. The study will consist of research and development to improve the E-Cat technology, and will involve running the reactor for 24 hours a day over a period of six months. Afterwards a metallurgical analysis will be conducted to examine the transmutation of the metals in the device.

The interview with Alexandros Xanthoulis revealed some new information. Among the highlights:

DGT is in discussions [with Ampenergo?] to sell their products in the USA. DGT’s investors are a group of friends of the Greek diaspora who attended the same university in Canada. The 5 to 30 kW modules are all the same size, the only difference being the pressure, so they will cost the same. The 1 MW reactor is now being tested, and DGT is working on producing a 3 MW reactor. DGT is only producing the units, not distributing or marketing them. It will take five years of production for DGT to meet the demand of the orders they’ve received so far. Every six months the units will be serviced by technicians employed by the distributors, but trained by Defkalion. The reactors have twelve levels of security; nevertheless, somebody will break the security sooner or later. Defkalion is depending primarily on legal protections and the low cost of the units to discourage competitors from producing Hyperion knock-offs. Thanks to Phizero for the video!

I dunno. I keep hearing “Tono-Bungay... Tono-Bungay...” in the back of my mind. But I can’t see how they can think they’d ever get away with it.

My scam-o-meter keeps wavering.

But Rossi is working with the University of Bologna, the oldest university in Europe. If anyone has a reputation to lose, it is them.

Here’s where I am starting to get another sense that this is real. Let’s say you were Rossi, that you came up with a catalyst for LENR reactions which heretofore had been very difficult to replicate. Would you act any differently than he has?

The first interview, with Andrea Rossi, is very brief, and mostly concerns his research contract with the University of Bologna. According to Rossi the research will be conducted over two years, with the first results expected in one year.

From the Krivit article:

However, the university had not signed a contract with Rossi at that time, and Rossi has yet to pay anything to the university, as Paolo Capiluppi, the head of the Department of Physics at the University of Bologna, told me in a phone call on June 24.

Rossi has history and the University of Bologna has history, know which one I believe more.
I seriously wonder about the depth of his involvement with the university.

Lots of statements "According to Rossi" not too many "According to the University of Bologna".
Just keeping Rossi's past accomplishments in mind :^)

I sent you the link to the Krivit article. Did you get a chance to read it? Not good for Rossi.

Lots of *Perhaps* going on with the E-Cat lately.
Don't really like *Perhaps* as a confidence builder :^)

“I sent you the link to the Krivit article. Did you get a chance to read it? Not good for Rossi.”

On the credibility of “Steven B. Krivit”. Note the vast technical credentials he has:

"That time" was in March. Since the contract was only finally signed with the U. of B. on June 21st, and the phone call was on June 24th, it's not surprising that Rossi "had yet to pay anything".

In March, the contract was still under negotiation.

My instinctive scam-o-meter is starting to inch upward again and so is my Baffle-Them-With-BS meter.

Whatever issues they may have had with US and international patent offices over getting patents issued (they have an Italian patent so far), once they have an operational commercial unit delivering energy they can demand the patent office issue the patent.

Once the patent is issued, then they don't need the trade secret protection. China will steal it regardless. A legitimate discovery will make them load of money in the US.

Just for comparison, here’s some info on a person REALLY qualified to make the kind of judgments as a reporter that Krivit is not:

Mats Lewan.........ten years of experience as journalist and editor and with a M Sc degree in Engineering Physics from the Swedish Royal Institute of Technology.

http://se.linkedin.com/in/matslewan

Note that Lewan actually did hands-on investigation of the actual Rossi device. All Krivit did was take pictures and talk.

Rossi might be a scammer, but a guy with a Business Administration degree is not the one to make that determination.

I see two primary lines of evidence here:

1. The direct evidence (involving demonstrations of the E-cat and an understanding of the scientific principles by which it functions).

2. The indirect evidence (such as the association of the E-cat with physicists and businessmen with appropriate backgrounds, the commercial development, press conferences, etc.)

#1 is fundamentally more valuable than #2, but I can’t really discount #2, especially since things are so cloudy and ambiguous regarding #1.

It looks to me like, on #1, the proof for the E-cat is lacking badly. If Krivit is right about the steam levels and potential for energy output to be over-estimated by 1-2 orders of magnitude then it is possible the E-cat is simply using an internal ‘battery’ of some mundane sort, and the rig is just a clever ruse. It’s a well-done magic trick in this case, to have fooled so many for so long. But we simply don’t know at this point, and Rossi doesn’t seem interested in justifying himself to us doubters.

Regarding #2, everything looks, to my ignorant eyes, exactly as it should be if this were a world-changing technology and the ‘in’ people knew it and are charging ahead for all they are worth. But is it possible they are taken in the same way many of us distant observers have been? (Probably)

But that leaves unanswered what Rossi (and any collaborators) are really doing if this is a scam. It will be a magic trick comparable to the E-cat itself if this is a scam and he is able to escape somewhere without being caught when it all blows up. That’s why I was wondering a few days ago if this might be a huge bluff directed at OPEC or another major target to force concessions, by some major, major governmental organization or similar multi-national organization.

Bemused...

Well, if this is a scam or just a huge engineering mistake, the University of Bologna (baloney) seems like a fitting place for it to have happened........;^0

University of Bologna, the oldest university in Europe

In the world.... By a large margin. It was founded in 1088 AD, over 900 years ago.
