California’s sales tax just went down by 1 cent.

Amazon is filled with people who think we need to raise taxes.

I can’t imagine how Amazon fights this. It’s what their people pray for every night before they go to bed.

Buyers will be the ones paying for it, but I guess Amazon thinks it will impact their business model unfavorably.

Hope it does.

That has to be one of the most stupid off topic rebuttals I have ever seen.

Project much?

Great. I wasn’t sure if you were aware of the Sales Tax decline. It almost sneaked past me and I live here.

I knew they addressed taxes that needed to be rolled back for the last six months or so, but I hadn’t realized the 1% sales tax increase was part of that. Most excellent...

I completely agree that there should be SS reform. I believe there was an attempt at that during the Bush administration that went nowhere. Instead we got Medicare PartD and now Obamacare. Looks like we are headed backward...not forward.

Truth be known, SS nor Medicare should have been instituted. But..they were, and millions of people were forced into the programs. I would be surprised if any group of politicians have the intestinal fortitude to tackle the problem. As you pointed out, Ryan has tried. But has been firmly condemned by many in his own party as being too extreme.

More people in the last 20-30 years have taken their financial destinies into their own hands with 401ks, IRAs, etc. I am not much on conspiracy theories and sincerely hope the rumors that government turning it's greedy eyes toward those funds in some way will never come to fruition. But I could see an effort in that direction.

I see both sides of the issue. The 80 year old that has SS as a large portion of their retirement and the 30 year old that regards SS deductions as pouring money down a rat hole.

The generational warfare I see developing over this, and other issues, is greatly disheartening. It's difficult to think we are regarded as greedy vultures with no concern for anyone but self. It will take both groups to change anything. I really don't think expecting the 70 plus year olds to participate is realistic.

There are times I almost fly into a blind rage when I hear some freak say my monthly SS check is an entitlement

It was dead-on! I've been getting raped by FICA all my life too and it's going to end soon!

A real idiot RINO (Joe Straus) was elected speaker by the Republicans in the legislature—a clear signal that something is rotten in the state of Texas. He boasted that he is not beholden to the Tea Party when the legislature knocked down every single anti-illegal immigrant legislation put before them. He’s fighting Perry on sanctuary cities now, with the full backing of some powerful Republican lobbyists.
