NOT GUILTY: Casey Anthony grins at most controversial verdict since OJ
Daily Mail ^ | 7/6/11 | John Stevens

Casey Anthony smiled with delight as she was today sensationally cleared of the murder of her two-year-old daughter Caylee in one of the most controversial verdicts since the OJ Simpson case.

Crowds gasped outside the courtroom as the 25-year-old mother was found not guilty of drugging her young daughter, suffocating her and dumping her body in overgrown woodland after a compelling six-week trial, which has seen a family torn apart by accusations of rape and incest.

Stunned Anthony hugged defence attorney Jose Baez when the jury's verdict was read after only ten hours of deliberation. As the jury left, a relieved Anthony, who had been facing the death penalty burst into tears of delight.

IF FoxNews has been anywhere near accurate, then the prosecution’s case in this situation was MUCH worse than the case put on against OJ. Too many loose ends that they could have closed, and too many dead-end doors the prosecution opened.

I have little doubt that this case and the “NOT GUILTY” verdict is every bit as big of a travesty of justice as the OJ case.

IF the initial defense assertions were true - that this was a great big accident - then why hide the body? Why lie about it. Why hide? Why dispose of the body in the woods? Is that the behavior of a loving mother/family? Hell NO!

The inept handling of this investigation from the beginning - the wild goose chases on evidence that only opened doors for the defense, the conflicting testimonies, and the list goes on - all spells a very poorly investigated and prosecuted case.

Because they all have a role in the family script. Casey was but one part of a whole.

Anyone with any understanding of the criminal law knew that you have to kill someone to be convicted of murder.

I know this is nit-picking but: You are aware that from time to time innocents have been convicted of murder, correct? I mean, we have seen some released because DNA proved to be someone else.

Tell me, how long did it take this ‘caring mother’ to report her child missing?

The death of Caylee is just another one to add to the long list of horrors that family already carries with them.

Casey’s only one part of the dysfunctional family. They protect each other because being tight-knit and protecting The Family is more important than pretty much anything else.

What are you talking about? Casey placed herself at the scene of death but the jury rejected her version of events. That means they concluded she killed the child, just not when she admits to the death occurring. Acquittal was caused by the jurors inability to reason.

Mark Levin has basically said the same thing and I agree.

No one is happy with verdict, in our hearts we know she either murdered or overdosed Kaylee. One huge problem, she had to be convicted beyond a reasonable doubt. The evidence linking Casey to the murder/overdose was slim and circumstantial, period.

Let's see here if I have it right about how she didn't do it.

The baby died by accident and the baby's mother loved her so much she kept it from everyone for as long as she could and that is why she lied over and over and over and over and over and over.

Or, the baby died by accident and the parents were in on the cover up from the start and they are two of the best actors of all time, fooling everyone involved including the police etc. On the other hand Casey was not a very good actor so they thought it was just her who was lying about the missing corpse of the kidnapped baby, accidently suffocated baby, accidently overdosed baby, accidently drowned baby, smothered by duct tape baby,, conveniently killed and discarded, missing baby.

Or,the dad was molesting Casey which gave Casey such fear (omg) that she was afraid to call 911 or George might get mad. Forget what you heard in the jailhouse tapes, tone of voice, aggression, actual words, sociopathology vs. patience, concern, kindness, long suffering.

There was plenty of evidence if you use reasoning and are not asking for video of the death. There is plenty to reason from if you are not asking for a non-decomposed body remenisent of a mob target whose body is not found.

Don't lie to yourself.

The child fell in the pool and the family panicked for fear that they were negligent.

You're obviously using those same 90 IQ points here that you used to vote for Obama. Why in the world would anybody dress up an accident so it could be construed as murder? Common sense has to be suspended in its entirety for anybody to believe the drowned in pool excuse. The main weakness of the American political system is that stupid people get to vote and the main weakness of the American judicial system is that stupid people get to serve on juries.

The child fell in the pool and the family panicked for fear that they were negligent. Sad.

Based on what evidence? There was none regarding this presented at trial; just supposition. And that's not evidence. The evidence was far stronger that the child had been in the mother's trunk, and that the child had been killed (chloroform and duct tape). The problem was, none of this was direct evidence pointing to the mother (the odor of decomposition was the most direct). The jury acquitted for lack of direct evidence. Now go away and play in your DU sandbox, Noob.

I think they could not prove HOW she died, they couldn’t prove WHERE she died, they couldn’t prove When she died, and they couldn’t prove who was present when she died. There is no doubt that the “mother” is Scumb, there is no doubt she looks guilty, and I would like to see her found guilty, but I understand why there is reasonable doubt. The child could have died of natural causes, been traded to a child molester, run away, drowned, or whatever. The prosecution just couldn’t prove Means, Opportunity, and Motive. It SUCKS but I get it.

The founding father’s were all men who believed in God. They believed it was an acceptable cost of Liberty that some guilty would go free. They believed this because God is the ultimate Judge and no one escapes his judgement. “Vengeance is Mine saith the Lord, I WILL repay.” God has no doubt about what happened or who did it. He will exact justice, it is simply His nature.

Noob, you are an idiot. There was no proof that she died in the swimming pool, not even close.

And if it were an accident you call 911, not cover it up and go partying.

I watched the case, free from commentary (live stream and I don’t own a TV) and while the prosecution could have done better, there was more than enough to convict. This is a serious miscarriage of justice.

Sadly, she will probably get pregnant again soon and with any luck lose all parental rights.

Meant to say: This case is simple and reminiscent of a mob target whose body is not found or is found too late to provide ‘fool’ proof evidence.
