In a segment on the religiosity of Michele Bachmann and Rick Perry, MSNBC's Richard Lui on Wednesday looked to an author who has smeared conservative Christians as "radical," weird individuals who "hate" America.
The guest host for Martin Bashir interviewed Frank Schaeffer, a blogger on the liberal Huffington Post website and also a constant critic of the religious right. Schaeffer, the son of a conservative theologian, excoriated conservatives: "But, I came to understand that these people actually hate the United States as it is."
Lui never pointed out Schaeffer's liberal leanings or his endorsement of Barack Obama in 2008. The author and blogger warned of apocalyptic dangers, should Bachmann be elected president: "She comes from a wing of the evangelical movement where takes the Bible literally, and that includes the Old Testament that has passages about stoning gay people to death and all the rest of it."
Apparently, if the Republican Congresswoman wins the White House, she "would produce a theocracy in the country where the Bible would be paramount and no longer the Constitution or the Bill of Rights."
Lui didn't call Schaeffer on his apparent contradiction. Just a few minutes after the above quote, the writer suggested that when Christian Republican candidates come into office, "the only people they actually serve is Wall Street, and- and- and so really the social issues are a red herring..."
Schaeffer was appearing, partly, to promote his book, "Sex, Mom, and God: How the Bible's Strange Take on Sex Led to Crazy Politics--and How I Learned to Love Women (and Jesus) Anyway." (Lui awkwardly read the whole title.)
In July of 2010, Schaeffer, whose family helped promote the pro-life movement in the '70s, asserted that some of the "nuttiest" evangelicals support Israel.

What this all comes down to is definition. What is the USA, or what should it be?
Liberals and conservatives have very different opinions on this subject. FWIW, our Civil War was fought over a definitional issue of this type. What was the USA going to be?

This guy is illiterate. The Constitution and the Bill of Rights were based on Biblical law. What law is he living under, oh that’s right socialists think that the state grants you your rights. Mine come from God and can not be taken away by Twits like you.

Bill Maher, John Stewart, Seth McFarlane....all rich and famous atheists. There was a time when being an atheist would have cost them their careers. Now it enhances their careers. Why? Because they bash Christians.

Was Francis Schaeffer his father? That explains it. Just a rebelling youth who never grew out of it.
A while back, I purchased for a nominal price, a small plastic container used for the purpose of Holy Water, obtained at a beautiful Catholic church and parochial school favored by those on pilgrimage.
The thought crossed my mind that so many on the left, and those involved with bizarre cultural cesspools like the adoration of vampirism and morbidity, are so fixated on their hatred and fear of religion, that they might eventually become, at least psychologically, like their demonic fetishes.
That is, so terrified of religious symbols and pious motives that even in the presence of a Bible, or a cross, or Holy Water, that they might react with fear and trepidation, in their minds questioning whether they might really dissolve or something.
To test this premise on the gullible, I even produced this small container of Holy Water in front of a group of black clad youths, and while they expressed disinterest for the most part, I noticed a couple of them discreetly moving to the back of the group, less in range. And they kept this relative position as I moved around the group.
This makes me wonder that if someday, when some bitterly anti-religious atheist is on a real tear, if someone was to splash him with Holy Water, that he might run around in an abject panic, while thinking, and screaming, that he is melting.
Hopefully on national TV.

He panders to Christians AND Muslims. But mostly Muslims.
After all, He has not signed and “agreement” with Christians, nor has he sent a dedicated brick to help them build a church, nor has he used state funds to fly into meetings with major Christians....Nope, All that he has reserved for MUSLIMS.
