The last time the town got rip-roaring like this was the summer of ‘94 — the same year the whole country had a long, hot summer. There was an unrelated shooting at the fireworks over the weekend, and some kid is held on open murder for running over another kid with his car, in fact, not least because this isn’t a huge city, I spend time in all three places (within spitting distance anyway), fairly often.
