For the first time, we are hearing from Jesus Rejon, the third most important man in the Zeta Cartel. He's talking about how the cartel does business.
CHANNEL 5 NEWS got on our hands on an audio interview that was released by the Mexican government. On the tape there are two voices. One is the investigator. The other is Rejon, or "El Mamito.”
The investigator spends a lot of time asking Rejon about where the Zetas get their guns. Rejon says the weapons are brought to them from the United States. He tells the investigator that they use to cross the weapons through the bridge but extra security means they now have to cross through the river.
The investigator asks who buys the weapons for the Zetas in the United States.
“The buyers aren't ours; the buyers were from the U.S. They would say the American government itself would sell them,” says Rejon.
Rejon may be referring to the ATF's Fast and Furious program. The program was supposed to track the guns going into Mexico from the United States. Instead, lawmakers say the ATF lost those guns. Rejon says the weapons are still coming into Mexico.
“It became more difficult to bring weapons, but there is still some. We still get them. But for example the Gulf, it's much easier for them to get their hands on it,” says Rejon.
He tells the investigator he doesn’t' know why the Gulf Cartel has an easier time getting weapons. He says maybe it has a deal with the government.
Rejon also tells a convoluted story about how the Zetas transport drugs. He was responsible for the shipment of all drugs through San Luis Potosi.
“There is a group that handles that. It's a private group; they're the ones that take care of that now. I'm not sure how often they cross. With the way things are now, I would imagine once a month, once every two months, three months,” says Rejon.
The interview ends after the investigator asks Rejon if he wants to apologize to anybody.
“No. Well, my mom because, because of this it's been about 17 years since I’ve seen her,” says Rejon.
The investigator also asks about the shooting of ICE agent Jaime Zapata in San Luis Potosi. All that is heard is a brief answer saying it was a mistake.
“The buyers aren't ours; the buyers were from the U.S. They would say the American government itself would sell them,” says Rejon.

The only thing that might make an impeachment hearing happen is if the Republicans take absolute control of both houses. Then we might get a chance to see the pigs squeal.
