‘Your God Is My God’: Beck Delivers Speech Before Jewish Politicians, Knesset
The Blaze ^

Posted on 07/11/2011 11:45:12 AM PDT by lbryce

Glenn Beck was given a unique opportunity on Monday while visiting Israel: he delivered a rousing speech before the Jewish version of congress, called the Knesset.

“Where you go, I shall go, Your people is my people, your God is my God,” Beck said, quoting the book of Ruth while addressing the Knesset Immigration, Absorption and Diaspora Affairs Committee.

“As a man who also worships the one God, in the times that we live in, it is clear that what is going on is God’s work. If we are silent, evil will win. But if we stand up and take charge, God will do the rest,” he added, according to the Jerusalem Post.

He also encouraged members to reach out to those of other faiths:

“If you go to a synagogue, reach out to a church. If you go to a church, reach out to a JCC. Say, will you watch this with me? After that we’ll talk and eat and get to know one another.”

As I said, I thank God for Christians, including Graybeard58.

The reply the mod deleted at my request (My own reply) made it sound like I didn't believe in Jesus and nothing could have been farther from the truth. If the mod hadn't deleted it for me, I'd still be 'splainin' myself.

But it still begs to question why the Church leadership did nothing to help the Jews.

The Pope himself was credited -- by an Israeli diplomat! -- with saving 860,000 Jews. Does that sound like "nothing" to you?

You obviously are not reading all my posts.AGAIN, I admit to being misinformed on that one point and am educating myself on that issue. However the silence is deafening on my other question on how is it that the Pope can somehow forgive sin? I have been searching the word of God and have to this point been unable to find it.

I must have been missinformed. But it still begs to question why the Church leadership did nothing to help the Jews.

You have bought a vengeful lie. Please become more informed: Pius XII and the Holocaust.

And how is it that the Pope thinks he can forgive sins, when scripture is plain that only God can forgive sins.

Yes, Scripture is very plain regarding the authority given the Church:

From the Old Testament:

Lev 5:5 When a man is guilty in any of these, he shall confess the sin he has committed, and he shall bring his guilt offering to the Lord for the sin which he has committed, a female from the flock, a lamb or a goat, for a sin offering; and the priest shall make atonement for him for his sin.

Note that the offering is made through the priest for the atonement of the sin. God trained His people to later understand their commission. Though the priest did not forgive the sin on behalf of the penitent, he is providing the form for the forgiveness. Authority to forgive came through Christ.

From the New Testament:

Matt 9:6 "But that you may know that the Son of man has authority on earth to forgive sins"--he then said to the paralytic --"Rise, take up your bed and go home." And he rose and went home. When the crowds saw it, they were afraid, and they glorified God, who had given such authority to men."

Notice how scripture says that such authority had been given to men. This is significant and is not merely a coincidence. It is acknowledging that this authority from God may reside in man. Later, God fulfills this commission...

John 20:21 Jesus said to them, "Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even so I send you." And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and said to them, "Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained."

2 Cor 5:17 Therefore, if any one is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has passed away, behold, the new has come. All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation; that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation. So we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We beseech you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.

James 5:16 Therefore confess you sins to one another…

Matt 18:18 Truly, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

May God bless you.

Remember it was “Christians” who sent Jews to the gas chambers. Trust me, Israel hasn’t forgotten.

Dude! Nazis rejected Christianity. You should read more history, a good place to start is read a copy of the Hitler Youth Hand Book which made no effort to hide their intent to remove Christianity from Germany and the rest of the world. Those who lead  millions of there fellow humans to their executions were NOT Christians.

Remember, it was "Christians" that that hid Jews from the Nazis, it was "Christians" that laid down their lives to stop Hitler and it was "Christians" who defeated the Reich.

I know how you feel,I made an error on a post and have since admitted to being misinformed. But that admission is falling on deaf ears, cause they keep piling on.It seems no one wants to accept my admission of error they just want to show how superior they all seem to think they are.But not one will answer a question I posed.Very curious indeed.

You're going to need a thicker skin around here. We aren't necessarily piling on (although that is considered great sport here)... there are a lot of posts and people are replying to what they see. They don't always click to see what other replies have already been made. Also, some replies take time to develop while other posts continue to accrue...

Don't get all worked up over it.

Puzzling stuff that.

Look, if it weren't for the almost limitless human capacity to tolerate cognitive dissonance, most of so-called civilization would grind to a halt with the populace curled into fetal balls... /g

PHILIPPIANS 1:15-18 "Some, to be sure, are preaching Christ even [m]from envy and strife, but some also [n]from good will; 16 the latter do it out of love, knowing that I am appointed for the defense of the (AJ)gospel; 17 the former proclaim Christ (AK)out of selfish ambition [o]rather than from pure motives, thinking to cause me distress in my [p](AL)imprisonment. 18 What then? Only that in every way, whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is proclaimed; and in this I rejoice."

One of the biggest debates that occurred after Roosevelt's death and camps like Auschwitz came to light (and the fact that the administration knew about them) was why did they not try to stop it. Michael Beschloss address it in his book The Conquerors : http://www.amazon.com/Conquerors-Roosevelt-Destruction-Hitlers-1941-1945/dp/0684810271 a lot of the information Roosevelt was getting was from the Catholic Church and they agonized over how to stop it. What Morgenthau and Roosevelt finally realized was that the best way to stop it was to win the war.

One of the deciding factors was that the Reich had already gone to the Church and offered to "trade Jews" for verbal support from the church. Something that Pope Pius XII wept over when the "Jew laws" were being passed in Italy. The fear was that Hitler would offer to "trade Jews" for land, peace, a cease fire, etc., something that the Allies could never accept. They were also afraid that if they bombed the camps that Hitler would either use it as propaganda that the "Allies killed the Jews" or realize that we knew what he was doing and would speed up the executions.

I'm sure the debate over whether or not we could have done more to stop the Holocaust can go on forever but personally I believe that Roosevelt was right, the best way to stop it was to win the war.

It's a great book and it talks about the attacks on the Catholic church by Hitler including all of the monks that were murdered after the Church denounced Nazism.

"Remember it was “Christians” who sent Jews to the gas chambers. Trust me, Israel hasn’t forgotten."

You need to re-read your history books. Hitler was very Pagan in his beliefs. He only gave very shallow lip service to a small part of Christianity.

You are correct. The pope cannot forgive sins....that is blasphemy. The pope, and all of those preceding him are in fact anti-Christs. Keep reading and keep the doctrine once delivered to the saints........as you can see there are many adversaries to the true gospel!

His disconnect is a mystery to me, but I take from him that which is good, trying hard to rightly divide the truth. I have never heard him say anything that would hinder one becoming a Christian, if he did it went right over my head.

Glenn has opened a lot worm cans and they have been enlightening to me but engendered a lot of hate in others. I guess truth always foments hate, it certainly was evident on the day that Christ was crucified.
