ABC News Confirms Bachmann Clinic Used "Pray Away The Gay' Therapy
Business Insider ^ | 07/11/2011 | Grace Wyler

An ABC News story tonight confirmed rumors that the Christian counseling clinic owned by Republican presidential candidate Michele Bachmann and her husband Marcus Bachmann offered therapy to help "convert" homosexuals to heterosexuals. The "World News" report featured an interview with a former patient at the Bachmann & Associates clinic, Andrew Ramirez, who first visited the counseling center as a 17-year-old in 2004.

"[One counselor's] path for my therapy would be to read the Bible, pray to God that I would no longer be gay," Ramirez told ABC News. "And God would forgive me if I were straight."

Ramirez story, first reported by The Nation, is backed up by an undercover video at the clinic, which shows a counselor telling a gay man that he can be "totally free" of his homosexual feelings through prayer and hard work.

Mr. Bachmann has previously denied that his clinic offers "ex-gay" treatments, known as reparative therapy. The American Psychiatric Association does not condone the practice, and has said it might have potentially harmful mental health consequences.

Makes me like her more. The media really likes repeating the lie about reparative therapy being harmful. There is absolutely no proof of such a thing but like Global Warming if a lib professor says it it must be true.

Considering AIDS and all of the other diseases, I have to admire her for her effort.

The American Psyc Ass does not like Prayer for Homosexuality, because it works while their Psyco Babble does nothing at $75 bucks an hour. Besides, people learn that they don’t have embrace “gay”, the Psycs believe that is unhealthy gender crisis.

Therefore, to set a Gay straight, hurts them. So, if your goal is to NOT “cure” them, just what are you charging $75 bucks for?! Is it ok to convince a cancer patient that they are all the better for the cancer?

My first reaction is "So What?"

Amazing that the MSM will dig this deep yet totally ignore Zero's anti-American and Socialist beliefs that are in his past.

The taring and feathering has begun.

Of course the WORST of all possible offenses is to not completely embrace err... what homosexuals do. And of course equally offensive is to oppose murdering one’s own child. Surely we can’t have a POTUS who is against those liberal accepted behaviors!

“Mr. Bachmann?”

Most psychologists don’t even try to use psychotherapy anymore for homosexual attraction, ever since the 1973 DSM removed it as a disorder in what was hardly an objective and unbiased decision. To attempt to do so is a rather bold decision that invites activists to ruin you professionally.

The sad thing is that there are people out there who have same sex attraction thoughts and DO NOT want to be like that, yet society tells them to just embrace it. Politics trumps mental health in this case.
