San Francisco Chronicle ^ | 7/14/11 | Wyatt Buchanan, Chronicle Sacramento Bureau

Gov. Jerry Brown has signed a controversial bill to include the contributions of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender Americans in California's public school textbooks.

After the governor signed the bill introduced by Sen. Mark Leno, D-San Francisco, he released a statement that said, "History should be honest. This bill revises existing laws that prohibit discrimination in education and ensures that the important contributions of Americans from all backgrounds and walks of life are included in our history books. It represents an important step forward for our state, and I thank Sen. Leno for his hard work on this historic legislation."

I absolutely would REFUSE to push this crap to my students if it were to appear in the curriculum.

Yes, even if I would lose my job...

People hated Arnold but he vetoed a lot of insanity like this during his time as governor.

This is what happens when you have a unchecked one-party Dem state.

For some reason your posts #22 and #23 did not show up in my ping list. That is odd.

I recommend the following essay:

It's not Personal it's Institutional by Wendy McElroy

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2747980/posts

"My husband is a good man!"

The indignation came from an email acquaintance to whom I had explained one reason I reject the public-school system — namely, rather than educate children, it indoctrinates them and teaches unthinking obedience. As it happened, her husband was a grade-school teacher.

My position is not personal. The analysis of the role an individual plays when he enlists in the state apparatus is not tantamount to a condemnation of his motives or character. It would be far easier if it were. I would deeply appreciate it if all agents of the state twirled their mustaches, wore black hats, and laughed like the Wicked Witch of the West. They would be easier to spot and pleasant to dislike. As it is, I understand that good people with fine intentions become schoolteachers and policemen. That doesn't change the role they play by accepting those positions.

To use an very extreme example, if a person were to willing work for, uphold, and establish Nazi concentration camps, the results would be horrific. It does not matter whether or not the motives of the individual are honorable. The institution of Nazism and their concentration camps were utterly immoral and corrupt!

So?...If the foundations of government schools are corrupt then it does not matter that those **willingly** taking a paycheck from the system are nice people, grow flowers, and have cute cats.
