Chickens!

Perry had the courage to initiate this, the rest, -- with the two exceptions -- don't even have the courage to attend.

They’ll be praying for rain, and the country.

I can see how those things might be objectionable to some. ;-)

“Perry had the courage to initiate this, the rest, — with the two exceptions — don’t even have the courage to attend.”

I don’t know any governors, but I do know most average people would need longer to plan a trip to Texas than the time between now and August 6th. I don’t think this is as much a courage issue as a much has a logistics issue. Also, this event benefits Perry, but not necessarily the other attendees. Politicians like to be center stage, not stage right. Were I concerned, I’d still be willing to grant some latitude to those who turned down the offer. Do we know how many sent Lt. Governors or other officials?

He added that even for Republicans, being associated with an exclusively Christian prayer event could hurt them among moderate supporters, and attending the event could mar their reputation if a speaker says something scandalous.

Moderate--code word for left leaning RINOs. That's all it is.

Our previous Governor here in the mitten spent a crazy amount of taxpayer money on traveling. I have no problem with our current Governor staying within state lines. We can pray here at home, you know.

There is a little more to the story than meets the eye. http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2748109/posts

“I don’t think this is as much a courage issue as a much has a logistics issue. “

Be serious — we are talking about governors, not people who have to give two months notice to their bosses to take a week vacation.

Let’s not show Republican unity, it would be too shocking for people. (/sarc)

Perry is the President of the Republican Governors Association.

As I said, it’s about courage, which most Republicans don’t seem to have.

Just two - Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback and Lousiana Gov. Bobby Jindal - have accepted the invitation.

That's a 100% increase, as yesterday I'd read only Brownback had RSVP his acceptance.

But he said he doubts Perry will have trouble filling the venue, which seats 71,500, with religious supporters.

Not sure where this guy is getting his info but that isn’t the plans as I read them. Instead they are preparing for around 10,000 with the ability to expand the seating configuration if needed.

More than 6,000 people have registered on its website, TheReponseUSA.com, http://theresponseusa.com/ ,and organizers expect another rush after they announce the lineup for the seven-hour-long event, said Eric Bearse, spokesman for The Response. Reliant Stadium will be configured to hold 10,000, but seating can be adjusted if more people RSVP.

I’m all for prayer.

A public prayer meeting for the political benefit of a politician who is soft on the practice of killing babies, and who thinks it’s okay to support pro-abortion, pro-homosexual politicians like Rudy Giuliani? Not so much.

Besides, you have to be crazy to go to Houston the first week in August!

This event has been set for well over a month, maybe longer.

Evangelicals Urge Rick Perry To Enter 2012 Race

http://www.myfoxatlanta.com/dpps/news/evangelicals-urge-rick-perry-to-enter-2012-race-dpgonc-km-20110716_14155777

“While the religious leaders have not explicitly endorsed Perry, some concluded that he is the most electable Republican among those who share their priorities and even conveyed their wishes to the governor by phone and in meetings over recent weeks.

“What everyone is looking for is somebody who is right on the issues but also has the highest chance possible to beat Obama,” according to Gary Bauer, a Reagan White House aide and former presidential candidate himself.

The religious leaders nudging Perry to run include some formidable figures in conservative political circles: Tony Perkins, president of the Family Research Council, a conservative Christian group in Washington; Southern Baptist Convention official Richard Land; and evangelical historian David Barton.”

I would think that THIS is the real issue:
“Everyone therefore who shall confess Me before men, I will also confess him before MY Father who is in heaven. “But whoever shall deny Me before men, I will also deny him before My Father who is in heaven.” (Matt 10:32,33)

Did Slick Rick’s invite his crony, whom he supported for the Presidency in the last election, pro-abortion Rudy Giuiani? Did 3x-married, make-believe transvestite Rudy, agree to attend?

Then who are you to tell them not to come to prayer?

I just emailed Governor Nathan Deal of Georgia urging him to attend. This country certainly needs prayer.
