The Norwegian police on Saturday charged a 32-year-old man, whom they identified as a Christian fundamentalist with right-wing connections, over the bombing of a government center here and a shooting attack on a nearby island that together left at least 91 people dead. Multimedia

SCANPIX, via Associated Press Deadly explosions shattered windows on Friday at the government headquarters in Oslo, which includes the prime minister’s office. A spokeswoman for Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg said he was safe. More Photos » The police said they did not know if the man, identified in the Norwegian press as Anders Behring Breivik, was part of a larger conspiracy. He is being questioned under the country’s terrorism laws and is cooperating with the investigation, they said.

“We are not sure whether he was alone or had help,” a police official, Roger Andresen, said at a televised press conference, adding: “What we know is that he is right-wing and a Christian fundamentalist.” So far Mr. Breivik has not been linked to any anti-jihadist groups, he said.

I’m not buying it. The leftist media tried to make Jared Loughner a “right-winger” too.

And it was nothing but a lie.

Yet they don’t explain how they “know” this. It’s preposterous, and defies any logic, unless when used as leftist propaganda.

As they arrested three others on July 8 for what seems to be the same plot, and they had Al Qaeda connections, I would not count on it sticking.

Right. He listed his religion as “Christian” and his politics as “Conservative” on his Facebook page. Case closed.

The U.S. and the UN will join hands and use this as an excuse to restrict gun ownership for EVERYONE!

In all fairness, the police searched the man’s residence after the incident. It’s entirely possible the police took hold of literature, media, and lilely his computer.

I really don’t think the Norwegian police are part of some vast conspiracy. Furthermore, the suspect is said to be cooperating.

The dust will settle in a few days, and then we’ll see.

He was anti Muslim. Norway was not prepared for this. The gunman pretended to be a policeman. A guard helped him and took him by a boat to the island. And then he helped him carry his bag (probably guns and ammo in it). No one did anything. The cops new there were explosives and did not want to enter the island. So the gunman was on the island in 90 minutes killing the kids.

It does prove the point that anyone with a gun can actually kill people. These movie plot terrorist plans can't hold a candle to someone with a gun. The beltway snipers, etc can shut down an entire region of the US.

This kind of thing, above all, is why we’re pretty much doomed. For now a single person can kill a few thousand. Eventually it’ll be a few million from a U235 lump.

So what type of “Christian Extremist” literature do you think they found? A Bible?

Sorry, I’ve been on this planet too long. And I’m not stupid enough to believe everything I hear from propagandists, particularly when it defies logic at every turn.

Yet they don’t explain how they “know” this.

From the article:

He was later identified as Anders Behring Breivik and characterized by officials as a right-wing extremist, citing previous writings including on his Facebook page.

A Facebook page matching his name and the photo given out by the police was set up just a few days ago. It listed his religion as Christian, politics as conservative. [...]
[I added the bold]
Also, note...
The acting police chief, Sveinung Sponheim, said the suspect’s Internet postings “suggest that he has some political traits directed toward the right, and anti-Muslim views, but if that was a motivation for the actual act remains to be seen.”

He said the suspect had also been seen in Oslo before the explosions. The police and other authorities declined to say what the suspect’s motivations might have been, but many speculated that the target was Mr. Stoltenberg’s liberal government.
