House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va.) delivered a blunt message to the Republican Conference Tuesday morning: Quit the grumbling and whining and come together to rally behind Speaker John Boehner to pass his debt ceiling plan.
Cantors heavy rhetoric came out in a closed session at the Capitol Hill Club as the GOP majority tried to whip up support for Boehners latest deficit package. Cantor summed up what he knew many Republicans were thinking as they head into another critical vote.
The debt limit vote sucks, he said, according to an attendee of the closed meeting. But Republicans have three options, Cantor said: risk default, pass Senate Majority Leader Harry Reids (D-Nev.) plan which he thinks gives President Barack Obama a blank check or call the presidents bluff by passing the Boehner plan, which not only cuts deeply into domestic spending but calls for a bipartisan commission to find more savings.

Would we be better off with a default?
>>Cantor to America, The Tea Party and Conservatives: Screw you!<<
I’m with Cantor on this one: Shut up and vote.
Eric Can’t or.
It's going to happen eventually, and the longer we put it off, the worse it will be.
No.
Cantor is truly urging his colleagues to call Obama’s bluff.
Face it: until Nov. 2012, Republicans control only one-half of the two branches of government required to enact legislation. That is one-quarter power.
All they can do is all they can do. Best we can hope for until a new election is damage control. Don’t blast Cantor for speaking the truth.
Shut up and vote NO
Does he mean quit winning and vote?
Are you folks buzzed or something??? Anything written on “Politico” is political spin for America hater/destroyer, POTUS Barack Hussein Obama!!! End of story!!! Believe nothing you read on “Politico”!!!
There is no chance of default. Do you mean would we be better off not raising the debt limit at all?
If so then the answer is yes.
Still I’m happy to go along with the compromise bill passed by the House: Cut,cap&balance.
Too bad Boehner sabotaged it.
1 God stands in the congregation of the mighty; He judges among the gods.
2 How long will you judge unjustly, And show partiality to the wicked? Selah
3 Defend the poor and fatherless; Do justice to the afflicted and needy.
4 Deliver the poor and needy; Free them from the hand of the wicked.
5 They do not know, nor do they understand; They walk about in darkness; All the foundations of the earth are unstable.
6 I said, You are gods, And all of you are children of the Most High.
7 But you shall die like men, And fall like one of the princes.
8 Arise, O God, judge the earth; For You shall inherit all nations.

Jeremiah 51:46 Ruler against ruler
Theres a group of people in Washington that are going after the poor. No doubt about it!
Boehner should travel to Afghanistan and tell the women and men defending this country that theyre fighting for the rich, big oil and corporations.
Sodom and Gomorrah were not destroyed because the people were homosexual, they were removed because of how they treated the poor and the stranger.
What was the sin of Sodom?
A collection of classical Jewish texts
Compilation and commentary by Robert Kaiser
With an additional note from Arthur Waskow
Classical Jewish texts concur that God did *not* destroy Sodom and Gemorrah because their inhabitants were homosexual. Not at all. Rather, the cities were destroyed because the inhabitants were nasty, depraved, and uncompromisingly greedy. Classical Jewish writings affirm that the primary crimes of the Sodomites were, among others, terrible and repeated economic crimes, both against each other and to outsiders. Saying "God killed them because they were gay" is, to say the least, not the Jewish teaching on the subject.
Consider the following texts:

At some point something is going to get passed. Boehners’ plan is the best of the three choices. Not raising the debt ceiling gives Obama too much power over what gets paid, when.
Republicans control one part of the government version of a spigot, hose, and nozzle. Without the republican spigot, there is NO water going thru the hose or coming out the nozzle.
Wow! I can’t believe Cantor called Republicans ‘whiners’! Sounds like what the RATS and obamma would be saying! He lost my respect in a big way!!!!!!! Cantor, shut up!!!!!!!!!
” It’s going to happen eventually, and the longer we put it off, the worse it will be. “
EXACTLY
At least this way we at least can gain the narrative, deny Obama even the remotest chance at what he would call a victory, and set the stage for larger cuts and greater reform when we gain the Senate and the White House in 2012.
Man, this sucks all of the juju from Zero - see him squirming last night? - it's gonna' get better when he has to sign Boehner's deal.
But vote yes or no?
My question is sincere. I may not have kept up on all the details, but I am still not convinced that there will be a default, unless Obama wants one.
I think the question is do we want a govt shutdown, and its improper to frame the question as one of default. If the question is do I want a govt shutdown (except military and essential functions that can be justified constitutionally), the answer would most definitely yes.
The House has already passed the Ryan budget and CC&B. Either of those are better than the total sham Boehner is putting forward.
Conservative have got to wise up. The Obot press knows they can play you for fools. You all really got to quit believing every little thing they publish. They are NOT on your side.

CCB is the best compromise plan available.
Do you really think the Democrats whose entire constituency depends on hand outs from the Feds would choose no raise in the debt limit instead of CCB.
Media and dems: It’s the pubbies fault!
Pubbies: We passed a bill that’s a huge compromise and takes the debt ceiling off the table through 2012.
Winner: America
I agree you’ve got to pass something that is at least somewhat palatable to the independents and quickly so that Obum and senate are stuck on no for the last few days.
I read that thread an still have a hard time believe only 6 billion in cuts. Heck, the GOP cut more in 2011 than that. Gonna need a creditable source or two before I believe only 6 billion in 2012.
The House can vote, the Senate will table it = no progress.
’ Without the republican spigot, there is NO water going thru the hose or coming out the nozzle.’
If the government under the Constitution ceases to function, would that resurrect the government under the Articles of Confederation, with 13 states and 37 plus territories or foreign governments? This would be pretty urgent after your proposal defunds the military.
Okay, it's NOT deep cuts - it's barely any cuts - which means the debt continues to grow unbounded.
And we don't want any commission. We want Congress to the their jobs.
Just DAMN
Yes, working for the left...why waste anyone’s time reading and believing this organization BS...
Why? FWIW, I'd be happy if we hit the debt ceiling. That looks to be only way we have up cutting up Congress's credit card.
Conservative have got to wise up. The Obot press knows they can play you for fools. You all really got to quit believing every little thing they publish. They are NOT on your side.
Politico does suck but the bill from Boehner is real and that bill is a sell out and a disaster for America.
>>The House can vote, the Senate will table it = no progress.<<
Sometimes hitting the ball into the other guys court is progress. The other guy has to do something with it. What they do with it becomes the topic of conversation and revelation.
Wall Street bankers have ally themselves with the Dems on this issue and have used all their lobbyists and agents in MSM to pressure GOP. Why? Simple, Wall Street bankers have made tons of money helping the feds borrow and sell bonds to investors to keep this ponzi scheme going. Our country is already finished and Wall Street wants to delay the collapse so they can get their families out of the country and loot what is left. Since Main Street is destined to die in an economic collapse, then let us dragg Wall Street with us to the death. Otherwise as we die in the future, bankers will be sipping drinks and laughing at us after they have robbed us. Furthermore, crash the economy you crash Obama in 2012. Vote NO and default!!!
Sounds like getting rolled again. Then again, it's vacation time & all of these fools got THEIR agenda to take care of.
‘I cant believe Cantor called Republicans whiners!’
I can’t either. Furthermore I see no evidence that he did so.
What happened when Reid tabled the last one? Absolutely nothing.
A raise in the debt ceiling of 1 trillion dollars, no real spending cuts and a “commission” that will make it easier to raise taxes is everything Obama wanted and more.
Ya, what’s up with this commission idea? Obama had a commission, the Bowles/Simpson commission. He ignored their report, but, we’ve been/done that with special comissions with a mission to do something.
My position is that it is immoral to further enslave our posterity by further borrowing.
"CCB" raises the debt ceiling by $2.4 TRILLION dollars.
So, tell me, just how is this a "compromise"?
Looks to me like the borrowers and spenders are getting everything they want, bottom line. And me and my family, unto several generations, are getting the bill, with interest.
Politico = New York Times, Basement Edition
Damned straight! There is not one single testicle in the whole damned crowd. They still can’t keep their focus on anything but reelection.
The debt ceiling will have been raised, the deficit will grow, there will be no plan to get our economy under control. There's no way you can spin it, this will be a huge victory for Obama.
There would be no default. “Default” in the financially relevant sense would be failing to pay amounts owed our lenders.
For political purposes (i.e. to frighten the uniformed), the meaning of “default” has been distorted to mean that prior appropriations to spend money on cowboy poetry, ethanol subsidies, Planned Parenthood, Obamacare, government housing, Michele’s travels, etc. would not be funded. A failure to do the things that would be defunded wouldn’t be noticed by most people, especially those “pulling the wagon”. Welfare recipients, however, would get less than they are accustomed to. Sharpton and the rest would probably have a hissy fit and organize demonstrations and semi-riots. Bear in mind, though, the welfare state will end sooner or later, and it is much less damaging if it is sooner.
Cantor just dropped the ball (again).
“It’s going to happen eventually, and the longer we put it off, the worse it will be”
It’s a matter of when, not if. These DC Hacks have already shown they are incapable of saving this country. If they are not capable, only two options remain.
1. Replace them with new members who will save this country.
2. This country collapses under the spending we cannot maintain.
It’s anybody’s guess which one will come first.
Personally, I want a shutdown.
But as I’ve said in many threads, my interest here is mostly out of curiosity. Like a child watching a spider squirm after you’ve pulled all the legs off.
This problem is like a bus traveling at 50 MPH towards a concrete wall 30 feet ahead. And these numbsculls in DC are voting on how to best apply the brakes. But it really doesn’t matter. There is going to be a “rapid acceleration” very soon no matter what they do.
That is why I bought a small farm in central Kentucky in late October of 2008, moved virtually all my stuff there in July of 2010, drove one of my cars out there stuffed with most of the rest of my stuff three weeks ago and will be driving my last car out there packed with anything else I want next week.
I’ve quit my Seattle job (Seattle was my home since the mid-1960’s) and start a new job in Kentucky when I arrive there. I can be very self sufficient on that farm.
This economic crisis is gonna end badly no matter what the government does. The time for “effective” action passed years ago. And the rest of the world is in pretty much the same boat. It’s called “Mystery Babylon”.
My tag line is ~two years old.
Hey John, another "debt commission" made up of six RINOs and six Rats is NOT a path to victory for the American people.
I agree. You are right. If the Senate will not pass them, they mean jack squat, we go into default and Obama gets to choose how to spend 200 billion per month. Sound good to you?
Just once I’d like to see these GOP leaders show the courage of their convictions, just once.
Of course, maybe I’ve got their convictions all wrong.
