A new Gallup poll shows that while a plurality of Republicans and Republican-leaning independents would pick former Gov. Mitt Romney as their preferred presidential nominee, more Southern Republicans would pick Texas Gov. Rick Perry or former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin. Neither Perry nor Palin has officially announced a presidential campaign.
Former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani achieved second place among Eastern Republicans, after Romney, while Rep. Michele Bachmann (Minn.) is in a statistical tie for second place with Perry, Palin and Giuliani among Midwestern and Western Republicans...
...snip...
Other national indicators are also showing that Perry is currently Romneys strongest opponent, and some influential observers say that while his campaign is unannounced, it has nevertheless gained significant momentum...

Nit rummie is a spoiled mini mac, the crybaby liar, daddy.
When was the last time the GOP won without the south??
Well, flippin’ duh!
Duh.
The South will NEVER endorse Mitt Romney.
These early polls are mostly about name recognition and the fact that the media keeps claiming Romney is the putative Republican candidate for president in 2012, which is a fallacy. Rick Perry does look good but, like Palin, he remains unannounced. Unlike Perry, Palin has successfully withstood years of Democrats attempts to dig up ‘dirt’ on her. She is more conservative than Perry and doesn’t use weasel words to deflect criticism. Sarah Palin gives you her opinion, without flinching. She regularly calls out Obama. Best of all, if elected president, she wouldn’t instantly abandon her conservative principles or try to ‘go along to get along’. The Washington Beltway Old Boys club would be over. One of many reasons Sarah Palin is feared by Republican establishment types. Rick Perry? Not so much. I find their fears a plus for Palin. So do millions of other Americans.
Probably Lincoln, don't ya think? :o)
Much of what you say is why I support a Palin/Perry ticket. Palin will be the boss, and Perry will follow her agenda.
The dynamic of two successful conservative Governors from our two largest energy producing states is an unbeatable combination, IMO. Can you say “Drill, Baby, Drill” ? It will become a reality with those two in the Executive Branch. Imagine Palin telling Perry, “Rick, you’re in charge of the EPA, get to work!” Talk about fun!

Gallup: Southern Republicans like Palin or Perry over Romney
The obvious question is which of those two, over Romney, can actually attract the northern voters and Independents for the win in 2012, and actually boot Obama? There is one of those two with a stunning record that defies the record of anyone else running, including Romney and certainly Obama. That record would be called, TEXAS.
I could not have put it better. Thanks.
And in ANOTHER News FLASH: “Water is Wet” AND “The Pope is Catholic”!
And in ANOTHER News FLASH: “Water is Wet” AND “The Pope is Catholic”!
Since Nixon's Southern Strategy was implemented?
So do us Northern Republicans.
We’ve had enough RINOs in my lifetime. Time for some real Conservative Republicans to get into office and straighten out this country.
The south will not vote for Romney,he's the MSM's boy
Unfortunately it does not matter what the South wants. By the time we have our primary in NC all of the true conservatives will have been driven out of the race by the idiots in the North with the early primaries.
Southern Republicans like Palin or Perry over Romney

Yes! My favorite four are Palin, Perry, Cain, and Bachmann.
