HOLD THE LINE!!
They'll have to come back to you. DEMAND a REAL CUT in spending!! Do not under any circumstance approve a debt ceiling increase!! Instead, insist on real spending cuts NOW!! The country is bankrupt. Do not allow them to take us deeper into debt! It's time for the HOUSE to do its job of controlling the spending!
The federal government is bankrupt due to Obama's reckless spending. Cut up his credit cards and force him to quit spending! It's time to put Obama and company into receivership! Make them come to the House to authorize current payments on the debts as they come due so that we don't default. Do not authorize any spending whatsoever on discretionary items until the spending crisis is solved. Pay the obligated social security checks, the military, the interest and the required debt payments, but that's just about it until our fiscal house is in order!
Make no bones about it. We sent you to Washington for one reason and one reason only and that is to take control of our big spending, big taxing problems and get our economy going again so our our people can get back to work!! Do not let the DC ruling class sway you. Do not take your eye off the ball. Do not fail to do your job! Our nation's survival depends upon your vote!!
Tell Boehner to get HIS ass in line!! Cut the damned spending, already!!
Reinforcements are coming in 2012!!
Rebellion is brewing!!
DON'T TREAD ON ME!!
Hold the Line!
Second the motion.
The holdouts will be just fine, we the people will see to it. Tonight is not a “make or break” moment for their careers, it is a make or break moment for the House Leaders careers.
Apparently the GOP leaders all missed the message of last election. Keep this crap up GOP Establishment and we will primary you into retirement just like we did a bunch of your fellow political dinosaurs in 2010.
According to Fox News, it’s the Texas delegation that is manning the last ramparts against the Boehner/Obama debt fiasco. They are being threatened by Boehner that this will end their political career, as if Texas voters are for more reckless government spending.
If you are a Texan, call or email your congressman NOW and tell them to stand firm for smaller government and freedom!!!
Remember the Alamo! Some things are worth fighting and dying politically for.
CUT GOVERNMENT! Spending just naturally declines...
“Tell Boehner to get HIS ass in line!! Cut the damned spending, already!! “
Amen! Shut it down.
Then the House GOP leaders are cowards and sellouts!! Vote the bastards OUT!!
Compromise is for today
Principle is for tomorrow
When it is someone else’s problem
~The Republican Establishment’s Motto
Also, tell dingy Harry that the party is over and to get his worthless ass in line.
Without any increase , we that work and our kids owe $92,000 dollars.
Then add our annual tax obligations.
Life as Nancy Pelosi knows and wants it , must end.
Because not one elected politician will ever cut one single program, best is to let it collapse- ending all programs.
Our government is like a group of 16 year olds with an American Express Black card and President Obama is the most fashionable girl of the bunch.
Sarah Palin wrote today: Everyone I talk to still believes in contested primaries.
Hope these Freshman remember that.
- AFP - Tea Party activists gather on Capitol Hill for a "Hold the Line" rally in Washington, DC. The United States lurched Wednesday toward a potentially ruinous default or painful downgrade of its debt rating, as polarized politicians waged a see-saw battle with a key deadline six days away
I’ve always found threatening someone I’m trying to win over to my point of view to be an effective tactic. ;p
My Rep Dennis Ross-FL tweeted me that he told the Speaker “NO”. I told my rep he has my support.
or be prepared to go looking for a new job soon.. Good luck on that, ya cretins!
HOLD THR LINE!!!
We thr people demand it. If you can’t do the will of the people then you need to go.
I also know all embedded incumbents need to go, on both sides.
I am a displaced Texan, exiled in CA.
There are only two GOP Nay-votes from TX right now: Ron Paul and Louie Gohmert. The rest are Yays or undecided.
Call Barton. Call Barton, Sam Johnson, Hensarling, and Pete Sessions and tell them to cut the crap.
Also, Floridians need to have a chat with the Good Col. Allan West. I think he’s drinking some bogus Kool-Aid.
West was on TV supporting the bill.
Mr Robinson, where was this kind of support for our freeper friends that despised RINO’s
and wanted to hold this same standard you’re talkin about right now. They got booted out. It’s discouraging. Freepers that were trying to warn against just this kind of crisis, if we continually voted RINO’s into office.
As much as I appreciate the newfound principle, I don't see how we can win this politically absent a compromise increase. We're already losing the PR battle (shock) in the MSM.
Its been hard to see a clear path forward on this changing situation. I know mine is a less-widely trumpeted position here on FR, and granted, maybe I'm mistaken, but as painful as it is, when you're in a minority position, as we are on the Hill, you take the best deal you can get to minimize the damage to the country (unquestionably our first priority), and try to avoid being politically eviscerated, which is what will happen to us if we don't compromise, and the result is either a partial government shutdown or negative economic repercussions (genuine or ascribed). 2012 is perhaps the last big chance to fundamentally reverse what Obama has wrought, generic Republicans are outpolling him; we should not sacrifice the enormous opportunity to do good then, with a largely symbolic one now.
GET RID OF BOEHNER AND ANYONE WHO SUPPORTS HIS “PLAN”...HE IS SPINELESS AND WORTHLESS
Why in the world would anyone (after 2010 elections) think we would want the same BS??? Enough smoke and mirrors!! No more spending!!!
Good for Gohmert!!!! My man Louie quit school on account of recess, he just don’t play!
FR has always led the charge.
To hell with the PR (propaganda) battle. We, the tea party people will march on Washington again and again right up to election day!! We will support our tea party freshmen and send them reinforcements in 2012!!
Rebellion is brewing!!
The battles of Lexington and Concord begin anew!!
We have not yet begun to fight!!
“.....its the Texas delegation that is manning the last ramparts against the Boehner/Obama debt fiasco.”
Solid Todd Akin from here in Missouri is standing firm with the Texans.
I’m a Texan. Ron Paul is my Rep. (not by my choice, don’t judge lol)...anyways, I never have to call him on stuff like this, he ain’t budging. I don’t even check up on him. He’s that solid on this stuff....so that frees me up to bug other people’s reps....
I think it has become abundantly clear that 2.6 trillion for Obamacare is not fiscally responsible. Repeal it NOW.
Before ANY American suffers one slap in the face. ALL foreign and payments to other than for American bene should be halted.
Wonder what would happen if all the money that is going to prop up American hating entities stopped.
Plus ALL federal benes to illegals must stop, period.
You are a treasure, JR. You speak with the voice of thousands.
You want a REAL CUT....don’t play the TARP game and bend over for more money....don’t pass anything.
While not president material, Ron Paul has been an excellent House Rep.
Can we call more than our own representatives?
I called my congresswoman and then called another TX congressman’s office at which time I was asked me if I knew he really wasn’t my representative. I said “Yes, but I want to encourage him to vote no for the Boehner plan anyway. I want him to know what we all think.”
However, when I got that question, I did wonder if it was OK to call more than my own rep. Especially since Texas seems to be trying to hold out and they are getting even more pressure now, I, as a TEXAN, want to call whoever I can!
I know what I am about to post appears off topic but at the root of the matter it has very much to do with anticipated, long-expected and predictable budget clash over insolvency now exposed in DC.
The Most Brilliant and Inspired American Political Innovation of our Time:
Because the multi-ring circus that is the DC budget show is set on a foundation of the 16th Amendment and the above link will demolish this foundation and rebuild it using much stronger material that also conforms with the Original Intent.
And with the FairTax a BBA will not be needed because changes in its tax rate will create feedback that creates a self-regulating action on spending.
“Sarah Palin wrote today:...”
Has Sarah taken a stand yet on whether the ceiling should be raised?
Amen Jim! If only the new freshmen could read your note before it’s too late! Can we tweet them or something?
I’m not sure her position on the matter, but I would imagine that any debt limit increase but have to be met with a greater cut for her to support it.
Her statement today indicates as much.
Congressional Freshmen For Such A Time As This
by Sarah Palin on Thursday, July 28, 2011 at 1:03pm
Out here in proverbial politico flyover country, we little folk are watching the debt ceiling debate with great interest and concern. Today I re-read the open letter I wrote to Republican Freshman Members of Congress in November 2010, just days after they were ushered into office in an historic landslide victory due in large part to the activism of commonsense patriots who are considered part of the Tea Party movement. I respectfully ask these GOP Freshman to re-read this letter and remember us little people who believed in them, donated to their campaigns, spent hours tirelessly volunteering for them, and trusted them with our votes. This new wave of public servants may recall that they were sent to D.C. for such a time as this.
The original letter is pasted below, with added emphasis to certain passages that I feel are especially relevant to the current discussion.
All my best to you, GOP Freshmen, from up here in the Last Frontier.
P.S. Everyone I talk to still believes in contested primaries.
November 13, 2010
Welcome to all Republican Freshmen and congratulations!
Congratulations to all of you for your contribution to this historic election, and for the contributions I am certain you will make to our country in the next two years. Your victory was hard fought, and the success belongs entirely to you and the staff and volunteers who spent countless hours working for this chance to put government back on the side of the people. Now you will come to Washington to serve your nation and leave your mark on history by reining in government spending, preserving our freedoms at home, and restoring Americas leadership abroad. Some of you have asked for my thoughts on how best to proceed in the weeks and months ahead and how best to advance an agenda that can move our country forward. I have a simple answer: stick to the principles that propelled your campaigns. When you take your oath to support and defend our Constitution and to faithfully discharge the duties of your office, remember that present and future generations of We the People are counting on you to stand by that oath. Never forget the people who sent you to Washington. Never forget the trust they placed in you to do the right thing.
The task before you is daunting because so much damage has been done in the last two years, but I believe you have the chance to achieve great things.
Republicans campaigned on a promise to rein in out-of-control government spending and to repeal and replace the massive, burdensome, and unwanted health care law President Obama and the Democrat Congress passed earlier this year in defiance of the will of the majority of the American people. These are promises that you must keep. Obamacare is a job-killer, a regulatory nightmare, and an enormous unfunded mandate. The American people dont want it and we cant afford it. We ask, with all due respect, that you remember your job will be to work to replace this legislation with real reform that relies on free market principles and patient-centered policies. The first step is, of course, to defund Obamacare.
Youve also got to be deadly serious about cutting the deficit. Despite what some would like us to believe, tax cuts didnt get us into the mess were in. Government spending did. Tough decisions need to be made about reducing government spending. The longer we put them off, the worse it will get. We need to start by cutting non-essential spending. That includes stopping earmarks (because abuse of the earmark process created the gateway-drug that allowed backroom deals and bloated budgets), canceling all further spending on the failed Stimulus program, and rolling back non-discretionary spending to 2008 levels. You can do more, but this would be a good start.
In order to avert a fiscal disaster, we will also need to check the growth of spending on our entitlement programs. That will be a huge challenge, but it must be confronted head on. We must do it in a humane way that honors the governments current commitments to our fellow Americans while also keeping faith with future generations. We cannot rob from our children and grandchildrens tomorrow to pay for our unchecked spending today. Beyond that, we need to reform the way Congress conducts business in order to make it procedurally easier to cut spending than to increase it. We need to encourage zero-based budgeting practices in D.C. like the kind fiscally conservative mayors and governors utilize to balance their budgets and reduce unnecessary spending.
There in the insulated and isolated Beltway you will be far removed from the economic pain felt by so many Americans who are out of work. Please remember that if we want real job growth, we must create a stable investment climate by ending the tidal wave of overly burdensome regulations coming out of Washington. Businesses need certainty and freedom that incentivizes competition to grow and expand our workforce.
The last thing our small businesses need is tax hikes. It falls to the current Democrat-controlled Congress to decide on the future of the 2001 and 2003 tax cuts. If it does not permanently renew all of them, you should move quickly to do so in the new Congress. It would remove from households and businesses the threat of a possible $3.8 trillion tax hike hitting all Americans at the worst possible moment, with our economy struggling to recover from a deep recession! You must continue to remind Democrats that the people they are dismissing as rich are the small business owners who create up to 70% of all jobs in this country!
Another issue of vital importance is border security. Americans expect our leadership in Washington to act now to secure our borders. Dont fall for the claims of those who suggest that we cant secure our borders until we simultaneously deal with the illegal immigrants already here. Lets deal with securing the border first. That alone is a huge challenge that has been ignored for far too long.
On foreign policy and national security, I urge you to stick to our principles: strong defense, free trade, nurturing allies, and steadfast opposition to Americas enemies. We are the most powerful country on earth and the world is better off because of it. Our president does not seem to understand this. If we withdraw from the world, the world will become a much more dangerous place. You must push President Obama to finish the job right in Iraq and get the job done in Afghanistan, otherwise we who are war-weary will forever question why Americas finest are sent overseas to make the ultimate sacrifice with no clear commitment to victory from those who send them. You should be prepared to stand with the President against Irans nuclear aspirations using whatever means necessary to ensure the mullahs in Tehran do not get their hands on nuclear weapons. And you can stand with the Iranian people who oppose the tyrannical rule of the clerics and concretely support their efforts to win their freedom even if the President does not.
You need to say no to cutting the necessities in our defense budget when we are engaged in two wars and face so many threats from Islamic extremists to a nuclear Iran to a rising China. As Ronald Reagan said, We will always be prepared, so we may always be free. You will also have the opportunity to push job-creating free trade agreements with allies like Colombia and South Korea. You can stand with allies like Israel, not criticize them. You can let the President know what you believe Jerusalem is the capital of Israel, not a settlement. And for those of you joining the United States Senate, dont listen to desperate politically-motivated arguments about the need for hasty consideration of the New START treaty. Insist on your right to patient and careful deliberation of New START to address very real concerns about verification, missile defense, and modernization of our nuclear infrastructure. No New START in the lame duck!
You can stand against misguided proposals to try dangerous, evil terrorists in the US; precipitously close the Guantanamo prison; and a return to the failed policies of the past in treating the war on terror as a law enforcement problem. Finally, you have a platform to express the support of the American people for all those around the world seeking their freedom that God has bestowed within all mankinds being from Burma and Egypt to Russia and Venezuela because the spread of liberty increases our own security. You, freshmen lawmakers, can and will be powerful voices in support of foreign policies that protect our interests and promote our values! Thank you for being willing to fight for our values and our freedom!
In all this, you should extend a hand to President Obama and Democrats in Congress. After this election, they may finally be prepared to work with Republicans on some of these issues for the good of the country. And if not, we will all be looking forward to 2012.
Remember that some in the media will love you when you stray from the time-tested truths that built America into the most exceptional nation on earth. When the Left in the media pat you on the back, quickly reassess where you are and readjust, for the liberals praise is a warning bell you must heed. Trust me on that.
I and most Americans are so excited for you. Working together, we have every right to be optimistic about our future. We can be hopeful because real hope lies in the ingenuity, generosity, and boundless courage of the everyday Americans who make our country exceptional. These are the men and women who sent you to Washington. May your work and leadership honor their faith in you.
With sincere congratulations and a big Alaskan heart,
Amen, Amen, Amen!
If we go to default, then Obama has to prioritize his spending. He will pay military, social security,...and so on. Then,...he will have to decide if all those other liberal political “pay back” checks for the other agencies will continue.
In a sense, this IS government reduction. Let him see if he has the ability to discern the pulse of the American people as it is now.
This actually might be good for the country, who has a government run by six figure bureaucrats.
I’m 100% in favor of repealing the 16th and 17th amendments and don’t believe we need a BBA. We need to expand the grassroots tea party and ensure we vote in fiscally responsible conservatives. Re-empowering the right of state legislators to elect their own senators per the constitution to represent the interests of their own state governments (or face recall) would go far in defanging and defunding the federal beast.
And I agree, a 10% flat tax on all income (or an appropriately sized flat excise tax on all purchases if that should prove better) should raise enough revenue to support a constitutionally authorized and limited government.
