Posted on 07/28/2011 8:54:06 PM PDT by STARWISE
Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin weighed in on the debt ceiling debate on social media just hours before a key House vote. (Twitter)
In a post on her Facebook page from "proverbial politico flyover country," the former Alaska governor reprinted a letter she sent to newly elected members last fall, emphasizing the need to "rein in out-of-control government spending" and "check the growth of spending on our entitlement programs."
"I respectfully ask these GOP Freshman to re-read this letter and remember us 'little people' who believed in them, donated to their campaigns, spent hours tirelessly volunteering for them, and trusted them with our votes. This new wave of public servants may recall that they were sent to D.C. for such a time as this," Palin wrote.

Barack Obama: 0
Congressional Repubics: 0
Tea Party Holdouts: 1
Sarah Palin: Uh, I stopped counting somewhere around 100 or so.
Im gonna be pissed if she doesn’t run.
Did she also send McCain a nice thank you note.
Her posting today is getting big coverage. Amazing what a FB posting did in such a short period of time. I knew she would respond today or tomorrow, but had no idea it would make such an impact. Way to go Palin and thank you so much tea partiers in Congress.
The vote fell flat by a narrow margin didn’t it?
How long do they have to wrestle this vote?
How does this make Sarah look better?
Boehner loses? Democrap Party +1, Tea Party crucified by Media 0, and Obama +10. Welcome to Amerika.
I don’t want her to run. She’s so good in this tag team role, let someone else run and let Sarah keep attacking from the sideline.
Boehner’s plan is a joke, and everyone supporting it is a joke. This isn’t a game, in the end. This is about America’s future. The Tea Party Holdouts have to beat the Congressional Repubics to win this one for America’s future. Take it beyond August 2nd. Let’s show our cards and let them show theirs. they got nothin’. Count on it.
T”he vote fell flat by a narrow margin didnt it?”
A vote wasn’t taken. The weeper and his pet weasel eric couldn’t whip the votes. So they didn’t vote. They issued some spin about taking the time to tweak the bill.
“How long do they have to wrestle this vote?”
Until the weeper and his pet weasel give it up.
“How does this make Sarah look better?”
The momentum was going the weeper’s way. Sarah tweets and a couple hours later, they cancel the vote. She spoke, the conservatives in the House listened, and this bill may/will go down in flames tomorrow.
They leftmedia can run all the polls they want, it’ll be obvious as to who called the shots.
You don’t get it. “They” will never show their cards. They don’t have to. And they know it. They will simply siphon off enough soft pubbies to pass some Dem-inspired bill to “save the country” at the last hour in the act of destroying it, and enable Obama to take the credit, with the help of Pravda, so that he can(shudder here) win re-election. America’s future? What America? Welcome to Amerika.
Way to go Palin and thank you so much tea partiers in Congress.
All 25 of them. Where were the rest of them? This plan will pass but a lot of the Conservatives got played by Bonehead today and will be played by Dingy Harry Tomorrow or Monday when he sends it back to the house...watered down. What are they gonna do then?
Her timing was perfect!
You’ve given up.
Everyone who has given up needs to get out of the way.
I’m not convinced yet. We need to do anything we can to stop this from going down, and getting a decent plan out of this. If you think Boehner’s plan is acceptable, I mean that’s just foolish.
Truth be told, I am weary of the spectacle.
I want Obama on the hot seat.
West is better on the attack.
He doesn’t sugar-coat it.
We can’t win without it. Not peacefully. The Dems win. The Media wins. And Obama does. But, hey, listen, its OK . . . someday, when the violent and bloody overthrow of Obamaland occurs, I’ll be with you at the barricades.
Not sure, but I believe she wrote that before any vote taking. She’s firing ‘em up, asking them to hold firm, but they sure are getting punished by everyone .. from BOR, to McLame to Laura Ingraham .. Laura really surprised me.
The talking point du jour is: you can’t change things when you only control 1/2 of 1/3 of the govt. That’s everywhere.
Your bill that u love will pass tomorrow. However, Dingy Harry is about to play u. He will water it down and send it back over to Bonehead. What’s Boneheads plan then? Get the RATS to help pass it?
Better to have left the CCB Bill in Harrys Court.
No, its not foolish at all. Sometimes discretion is the better part of valor. And half a loaf is better than none. It’s about power, not principle. It’s about 2012, without which we are all doomed.
I dont want her to run. Shes so good in this tag team role, let someone else run and let Sarah keep attacking from the sideline.
i keep seeing that, and:
I can live with the Boehner plan because it puts the whole debate back in play during an election year and it gives us more time to pitch BBA to the rest of the nation. I can live with delaying the ultimate goal until Boehner part 2 comes about because it really puts the screws to Obama.”
and that if the Boehner plan is defeated:
any shot we had of taking over the senate and getting Obama out will be out the window.
1) what makes you think, she can’t do even MORE, as President? if you honestly LIKE what she’s doing and saying, why wouldn’t you support her being in a position to do and say MORE, and be heard by MORE Americans???
2) all the people pushing the Boehner plan, don’t understand, that if Obama spends another 2 TRILLION,
and kills our debt rating, that we a) WON’T win in 2012,
partly because the Tea Party will stay home if they are betrayed now 2) even if we DO win, the economy will be so in debt, that dealing with the SAME issues we have now, will be 10 times harder.
Levin pointed out that controlling one arm of a 3rd of government was not sufficient.
Ingraham shocked me too....I was like, wow, conservatives are dropping like flies.
I think why Tea Party reps are holding strong is, for the first time ever, the 95% calls to their office supporting real cuts is getting their attention. Before, calls didn’t matter, repubs would just moderate and agree to alternate the bad voter votes. The hold outs are true heros, what happened to Allen West?????
Let’s take this to the voters. They were behind cut, cap, and balance. Let’s expose the lies and refuse to capitulate.

Who’s company would you rather be in? It’s not even hard for me to decide on that count.
Him, too .. huh? He is for B’s plan?
Gee, why don't we just right a blank FRIKIN CHECK to the liberals? What's with you and the Neville Chamberlain tactics?
What did Laura I graham say?
We’ve Been Played for Saps, Folks: Boehner Bill Will Become Reid Bill
Don’t get personal, or presume. I don’t love the bill at all. I just think it puts the Republican Party in a better position to say that they have done all they can, while the Dems have done nothing. THEN, the Dems let things fall apart at their own peril. Nothing bad will be cobbled together, nothing that would pass the House. And there isn’t time. The Dems either sign on, or they take responsibility for the consequences of inaction. It could doom them.
No, I think Mark is screaming for rebellion from the masses.
He seems very frustrated with our lack of power and he is certainly disgusted with the lack of will.
Good distillation .. consider the source.
Moderates are the death of us.
This isn’t half a loaf. It isn’t even a crumb.
It’s not that simple. I dont love the bill at all. I just think it puts the Republican Party in a better position to say that they have done all they can, while the Dems have done nothing. THEN, the Dems let things fall apart at their own peril. Nothing bad will be cobbled together, nothing that would pass the House. And there isnt time. The Dems either sign on, or they take responsibility for the consequences of inaction. It could doom them.
It is, politically . . . more than half a loaf. Everything has to be about 2012, or it is about nothing.
I never take civil debates personally. Even uncivil debates personally.
Whatever bill passes does not begin the process in reigning in the coming disaster. And until that is addressed, disaster is not that far away. And I’m not talking about Default. I’m talking about colapse.
You forgot to add Investors Business Daily there with the Wall Street Journal . . . both of which I do read and respect. Sorry.
This what you appeasers do: First, you go to politics, then you go to “the plan isn’t too bad,” then you back to politics, then when we refute you again, you call us names.
In a world where so much is beyond our control, we need to control the H3LL out of what we DO control-!!! NO increase in the debt, come what may.
I am talking about 14 months of baby steps in small political victories leading to winning the ability to make major reforms in 2012. We cannot effect them without power. We cannot effect them now.
The talking point when GOP had the advantage was ... you have to reach across the aisle and compromise with the 1/3..... GOP Rinos...are eunuchs.
That’s great for you. I think I lost respect for the WSJ around the time of the amnesty fight in 2006.
Sometimes we get reminded that there seems to be only one person in this country right now who has the combination of leadership ability including an uncanny knack of picking the right moment to take a stand, and most importantly a sense of WHERE to lead the country forward out of the quicksand we’ve wandered into. The Democrats thought they had such a person in Obama. We on our side always knew that they were dreadfully, disastrously wrong.
There really ought to be more than one person with that set of qualifications that we could look to as a standard-bearer going forward into 2012 and beyond.
But if there is more than one, I don’t see him or her.
I really, truly would like there to be more than one person with that combination. I’d like at least one of that kind of person to be running for President right now. Maybe, eventually, there will be.
But, you go into elections with the politicians you have, not with the politicians you wish you had.
I would rather not have to put all of our hope and faith in one small lady from Alaska. My guess is that she would really rather that we didn’t have to do that, either.
