Liberal Congressman Cohen references "Blazing Saddles"

I was just watching the short morning speeches on C-SPAN when liberal Mr. Cohen from NC (I think), was referring to the fact that conservatives are now opposing the raising of the debt ceiling; but they supported same when Bush was president.

He referenced the scene in "Blazing Saddles", when the citizens of Rock Ridge were asked by the new black sheriff for just 24 more hours to solve the crisis. Denied. Whereupon Sheriff Bart protested, "You'd do it for Randolph Scott." The citizens then showed reverence at the mention of that name, and capitulated.

I was just thinking of the scene where the black sheriff hold a gun to his head and says to the angry crowd, "Stay back! or I'll shoot the ******."

I think either that or "Excuse me while I whip this out," is the more appropriate metaphor for what's happening now.

A friend of mine -who is Jewish said the problem with most American Jews is they are Liberals.i.e. more Liberal than observant. In Cohens case I suspect he knows more about Blazing saddles than he knows about the US Constitution.And more about Democratic Party policy than he knows about Torah law.
