Woman Fears Eviction Over Social Security Checks

FREEDOM, Calif--

Thousands of people on the Central Coast are fearing the worst. Social Security offices are being flooded with phone calls about the crisis and one woman is being asked to pay her bills early, before her checks stop coming.

Sarah Franklin lives in Freedom and on Friday morning she got a call from the manager at the apartment complex she lives at, asking for rent early. She said they're afraid she won't have money to pay it next week if she doesn't get her social security check.

"It's just really scary," she said. "I feel like such a baby for crying but the thing is, I'm not by myself, there's other people."

Franklin lives in the Pajaro Vista Apartments, a government funded complex that charges rent based on what you get in social security. Franklin gets about $970 in social security, so her rent is about $250 a month.

It's the end of the month and she's basically out of cash so hearing the complex wanted next months rent early was quite a shock.

People should call the Liberals bluff and point out that SS is supposed to be in a “lock box” and not be pilfered for general expenses.

The same with things like highway funds. I've read that something like 30% is skimmed off the top of highway funds for things not even remotely related to transportation. Then money goes to things like bike paths, rain gardens, and sustainable communities.

If it were up to me, highway funds would go strictly to interstate highways and their bridges. The states and local communities could deal with their own roads. Hell I live on a dirt street and it doesn't cost a dime to maintain because they don't even run a plow down here during the winter.

If her rent is based on her SS amount, and she doesn’t get a check then the rent would be 0.

Obama should be impeached for scaring the American public as he has done about Social Security and Medicare. There are many seniors whose health cannot take such worry. The president is not elected to frighten the public. Whatever else bad he has done, this is the worst. This tactic is childish, sophomoric, early campaign terrorism. It is way out of place coming from the Oval Office.

Obama has not led people to feel confident about anything, but has, rather frightened his countrymen. This is a terrible legacy he now owns, no matter how the current issue on the debt ceiling gets resolved.

History will record him as an enemy to the people's faith and peace of mind during this trying time. He has hurt millions with his innacurate accusations and fear mongering speeches. He is an evil, spiteful, vengeful man who has no comprehension of what his role is in the White House and has let his thin skin and ego take precedence over the welfare of the people he is supposed to protect.

There may be some schedule for sending them out that differs. The person I consulted had already gotten the deposit and seems to get it on the last Thursday of the month.

However, in any case, this means that they’re all going out, and as usual, somebody is just trying to scare this old lady.

In the cooperative effort of deception, GOP leaders are not allaying the unnecessary fear prophesied by the liar-in-chief.

I agree. It’s cruel - but then, I have always thought Obama was a nasty SOB.

His own family may have been raving Marxists, but they were well-off, and he has no sympathy for people who aren’t. Bush’s family was well-off, but he did sympathize (perhaps even a bit too much!) and never would have done anything like this.

A change was made several years ago that spreads out the deliveries, whether by direct deposit or by check. People born in the first third of the month get theirs on the second Wednesday of the month; people born in the middle third get theirs on the third Wednesday; anyone born in the last third of the month get theirs on the fourth Wednesday.

Ah! Thanks for the explanation.

Pretty nice place to live for $250 a month. $250 covers less than two weeks of just property taxes for me.

Exactly!

When allowed the lottery here in Colorado, it was clearly stated on the ballot that the funds would go to State parks and recreation.

Shortly after the ballot passes, the State government ignored this requirement and started spending the funds on other things like prisons, etc. We had ANOTHER election which made it very clear how and where the wanted the money spent.

Seems like the same MO for the bureaucrats.

What exactly is a sustainable community?

Is that like a gulag or commune?

The Lapdog Mainstream Marxist Obama-loving lying Media comes right on cue with the “hurt grannny”, “hurt the veterans”, hurt the “soldiers” stories, all to support the Commie agenda.

Cut every Government department by 75%, except the military.

A few years back, Carl Levin tried getting $20 million from highway funds to save Tiger stadium. He justified it by claiming a bus stop could be built into the place.

The fact was that the place was 80% on the ground when he asked for the money. He knew damn well he wasn’t going to save the stadium, he was just grabbing for the money.

What exactly is a sustainable community?

Its when you take a 4 lane heavily traveled boulevard and make it two lanes for cars with a center turn lane and two lanes for the handful of bikes that go down it during the summer.

One of our local reporters did an informal count over 48 hours. He counted several thousand cars and 14 bicycles over two weekdays in August last year.

Yup. Crooked. But you got your stadium anyway, everyone was happy, and he probably got lots of attaboys for doing it... while the city continued to have traffic congestion problems and pot holes?

Comerica park was already built by then. In fact these days it seems to be the only thing making money in downtown Detroit.

Unfortunately, the ends doesn’t justify the means. Just encourages them to do more of it.

Socialist, nonproductive, government-dependent employees are lying, defaming and stealing from the old, who paid the money into Social Security. They won’t do it without being punished. Depose them all, and get new leadership. On with the default. Starve the beast.
