People barging your door down aren’t allowed entry without your permission. You’re within your Constitutional rights to blow every one of those trying to do so away. Your FIRST failure was not eliminating the incoming threat.
Your subesequent failures are so nonsensical to not even warrent mention.
Your major failure was lack of creating the ‘body berm’.

It’s a bit unfathomable - except that it’s highly UNlikely that this event ever occurred.
They can’t “break in your door” without a search warrant; and if he “broke away” from the officers to fling himself on his dog, they would have shot him as full of holes as a Swiss cheese - assuming he even COULD break away.
It sounds very much to me as if he stepped away from his computer for a minute, and a teenage son decided to have some teenage fun.
Or something of that nature.
