WASHINGTON (AP) -- President Barack Obama is stepping up his criticism of Syria's crackdown on protesters, charging that the Syrian president is "completely incapable and unwilling" to respond to what Obama calls the legitimate grievances of the Syrian people.
Dozens of people were reported killed Sunday as Syrian security forces escalated their response to protests against President Bashar Assad.

Crackdown by the FBI and DOJ in this country is horrifying.
Horrifying. And he is busy taking notes. Well, having others take notes while he is golfing.
The solution would be to send money to these MUSLIM rebels who want to be “free”....or want money.
But we are bombing in Libya based on the false logic of humanitarianism.......what a frakin’ POS agenda-driven POTUS. =.=
So... guess we’re sending the Marines to Syria, too, huh?
To save time and confusion, why don’t we just declare the entire Middle East an American Zone of Interest and claim it all for The Greater Glory of Preimier Hussein?
But, gee, what about Africa and Myanmar and Venezuela and Cuba and North Korea?
Surely the American taxpayer can be expected to foot the bill for eliminating tyranny there, too?
This is interesting.
Didn’t Zawahiri say this just yesterday?
And now Obama is saying it today???
Makes one wonder if Obama is getting his talking points from AQ.
Tough nuts to crack, eh barry? What a pathetic loser.
Like Obama could give a _____. He’s just saying _____ because it sounds good. Obama our first aspiring rap star president. His idol is Jay-Zee a frequent White House guest. And the Moochelle & Beyonce rivalry
It’s all in the rap.
This mealy mouth hypocrite can’t be flushed down the drain soon enough. He is out come Nov 2012 when Rick Perry beats him by 17 points
That’s what I heard — it is Muslim/ alQ fighters? So, yes, most definitely we have to support them, you Kenyan Marxist.
I think a strongly worded letter (perhaps in CAPS) is warranted from the Great One.
‘horrifying’... said as though he were a passenger on a bus just having seen a nasty car accident from the window as the bus drives by.
Anyone think that Obama will be so upset by this slaughter that he will cancel his gala birthday party?
Cranking up the not-so-’Way-Back-Machine’, I seem to recall such luminaries as J.F.Kerry (Dem-Vietnam/Mass) sitting with Assad in 2009 and Pelosi [as Speaker of the House & 2nd in Presidential Succession] doing the same in 2007. Well, how did that work out, I’m not hearing anything from these fine folk right now, of course they are too busy messing up the economy I guess.
Nearly every nation the US is now supporting in the area has been exterminating their Christian populations and many of the Christians have migrated to Syria.
While I do not care for historic Syrian politics, this position by Obama might not be as humanitarian as he wishes all to believe.
Obozo and his fellow Chicago thugs are watching the game tapes from Syria every day to get pointers on how to do it right when it comes here.
What did he say about Darfur? Oh wait those were Christians being slaughtered by the religion of peace, never mind.
No oil, no gold, lip service only. A government killing its own people is not near as important as one that is alleged to have been killing its own criminal people.
LOL. Did he say he was getting “absolutely no sleep” over the situation?
Good of him to issue a statement while planning his birthday fundraising bash.
He’d love to be able to get away with doing the same to Tea Partiers...
Obama is: “completely incapable and unwilling” to respond to Tea Party calls and the legitimate grievances of the Amrican people.
