The U.S. Secret Service does more than protect Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr. the agency also pays him rent.
Since April, Mr. Biden has collected more than $13,000 from the agency charged with protecting him and his family, for use of a rental cottage adjacent to the waterfront home he owns in a Wilmington, Del., neighborhood.
Mr. Biden, listed not as vice president in federal purchasing documents but as vendor, is eligible for up to $66,000 by the time the government contract expires in the fall of 2013, the records show.
Officials say the arrangement came about when a previous tenant moved out of the cottage and the Secret Service moved in.

The list, ping
Let me know if you would like to be on or off the ping list
Now you know why people pay millions of dollars to get elected to a job that pays in the hundreds of thousands.
You beat me by 3 minutes!!
What an ingrate.
I believe the Clintons are doing the same thing in the Hamptons.
What waterfront home?
Dude lives off Montchanin:
In fact, now that I think of it, you would have to traipse through the Dupont property to get to river.
I’d rather ping to yours than post it. :)
I’ve already informed Admin Moderator to delete my thread.
I see no problem with this as long as Biden pays for the bullets in their guns and the gas in their cars while they’re working to protect his bald life.
I know I get tired of saying this, but....can you imagine if Bush did this?
Libs aren’t so anti-capitalist when they’re the ones making the “obscene” profits!
“the arrangement came about when a previous tenant moved out of the cottage and the Secret Service moved in.”
... at double the old rent I suspect.
Clinton did the same thing.
There was a question at the end of his presidency about how he was going to pay for his house in Chappaqua, NY with its $10,000 mortgage payment due each month. Clinton, you remember, never owned a home and had always lived off the taxpayer during his years of service in Arkansas. Enter Terry McAuliffe who financed the house for Clinton. Clinton then turned around and charged the Secret Service $10,000 a month rent for the use of a small gatehouse at the entrance to his property.
Clinton, continues to live off the taxpayer.
Edwin M. Donovan, special agent in charge at the Secret Service's Office of Government and Public Affairs in Washington, said the agency pays $2,200 in rent per-month, the same amount a previous tenant had paid before moving out.
April to August is five months (and I am being generous by counting Aug.), which is $11,000. Did he also charge them a first and last, or a security deposit?
Probably a smart move as he knows he and The Zero are tanking the economy.
Wow. I didn’t know that. Thanks for the info.
Compare a present politicians retirement with General Grant. He had to write his memoirs to provide for his family after his death by cancer. Grant fought the Civil war and was President of the United States. Today's politicians generally succeed in sodomizing twelve year old boys and snorting the largest trail of coke in history. What a bunch of self important nothings!
