“Do you really think Mexicans are drawn here to get instate college tuition?”

Yes, relative to other states that make them pay out of pocket. I certainly would factor that in if I were raising a family and living illegally in another country. Maybe not a big factor, but a factor

Do you honestly think illegal aliens are planning that far --years--ahead? This is a non-issue and totally misreprsents which is why it is constantly brought up. The criteria is never mentioned; just "Perry wants free tuition for illegals."

Did he say what parts of the AZ law he has a problem with...

Yes. Why their law wouldn't work in TX. He wasn't critical of their law. It makes me mad when 1 TX $ is spent on what is a federal responsibility.

“Quite the posting history you (BobL) have, damn little for years except your recent vanities bashing Rick Perry.”

I stand by my post. You have little posting recently except your Perry bashing.

Unless all the posts you claim were deleted, they don't show.

“Do you honestly think illegal aliens are planning that far —years—ahead?”

Maybe. Why do you think they risk their lives to be here? They’re here so that their kids can live the American Dream, which includes college (although it shouldn’t have to). We all have our images of some young lady dragging her little kids (or carrying a newborn), but did you know that a 15 year old could be with his mother and qualify as in-state, or for that matter a 16 or 17 year old either. The main rule is as follows:

“The child has to have lived in Texas the three years leading up to high school graduation.”

That is critical. They don’t say how old he has to be. But even if he doesn’t hold back a grade, a 15 year old will qualify. Older kids can simply be held back a year to qualify.

Sorry, but I don’t know too many parents of 15 year old kids who DON’T think about paying for college.

So to answer your question: Yes. Maybe not all or most, but certainly some of them.

Don’t follow...but I do have a tough time understanding why the law will work in AZ, but not TX. Are we that different?

I can’t speak much for the search function, but this is where I’m at now:

Free Republic
“You’ve posted a total of 26 threads and 9,979 replies.”

Give me a one week period in the past 3 years, and I’ll copy and my postings (the first 20 of them) and put them up.

It don't have anything to do with what I posted if you had 99,000 total posts. You still haven't posted much of anything in several years except you recent Perry bashes.

You are nothing but a liberal troll.

Come on, just name a week-long period in the past 3 years. I promise to have the posts up in several minutes. I’ll even link to specific ones, if you want further proof.

The kid has to have lived in TX three years leading to HS graduation...which is the same for legal citizens last I heard.

If an illegal kid should graduate from HS at 15, my guess is colleges would be offering them scholarships...not instate tuition.

What is your problem with this? Is it money...which amounts to not a lot or do you think the kids should be punished because they were brought here by their parents at some earlier time. We are talking 1% of the college population!

I don't like illegals but I'd prefer an educated one over another roofer or yardman.

No, it’s simply the message - we’re willing to help out your illegal kid. My point about age 15 is that most people graduate high school at 18, so it’s not like only 3 year olds are being dragged here by their parents...and while a parent of a 3 year old may not be too worried about paying for college, a parent of a 15 year old certainly is (legal or not) and will be much more willing to settle down in a ‘friendly’ state.

I agree that the money is (probably) trivial, although I don’t necessarily trust statistics on these emotional subjects unless I can see some raw data. My problem is still with the message.

My point about age 15 is...

Thanks. I didn't understand what you were talking about.

If a 15 YO illegal comes in and graduates from HS, in English, and is accepted in a college, I have no problem with that. (I can't see that happening.)

I go back to roofers and yardmen.

I don’t think (Perry) is a globalist.

Then why does he support and advance the agenda in his state which surely he will advance the nation forward in?

Globalization...... refers to the increasing unification of the world's economic order through reduction of such barriers to international trade as tariffs, export fees, and import quotas.

The goal is to increase material wealth, goods, and services through international division of labor by efficiencies catalyzed by international relations, specialization and competition.

It describes the process by which.. 'regional.. economies'.. 'societies'.. and 'cultures'.. have become 'integrated' through communication, transportation, and trade.

The term is most closely associated with the term economic globalization: the integration of national economies into the international economy through trade, foreign direct investment, capital flows, migration, the spread of technology, and military presence.

Seems to me Perry's promoting and inviting Mexico and the Middle Eastern leaders to come on board in his state, and keep the borders open would certainly put him in that catagory.

National Review's current poll asks Bachmann vs Perry. It's currently running 71-29 in Perry's favor.

I don’t think Perry saw it (trans Texas corridor) in globalist terms, I think he thought it would be good for Texas. I honestly believe that. I think he has expanded his understanding of that sort of thing since them.

That ticked me off also...but we Texans woke his butt up and we quashed that bit of malarky.

I suspect that Beagle didn’t expect you to do any research. Pretty cheap shot on his part.

Yes, it was. But I know we've both been around long enough to know that when someone has ZERO argument to support their position they launch personal attacks, even one this lame that the facts clearly don't support. I usually don't bother with such inanities but that lie was easy proven with a quick search so I did.

Cheers

BS you say? Really?

August

There's a BobL post from every month of the year 2011 and none are on the topic of RINO Rick Perry.

So were you lying or do you just not know how to use the search feature at FR?

Have you Rick Perry supporters now degenerated to the level where you have to tell lies about specific bloggers on FreeRepublic?

Yes, they have.

See my post #255; it proves my assessment of your posting history is true and it proves these Rick Perry supporters are willing to lie about other FReepers because they have no real argument to make in defense of RINO Perry.

Thanks South40. It’s a blast to sample my old posts. Sometimes I forget how brilliant some of them are.

I really appreciate your support. Hopefully some of these spammers will get banned...but, if not, we’ll have to deal with them, while remind the rest of the FReepers just what Perry’s supporters have now degenerated into.

But in a sense it’s understandable. Perry is a lot like Romney, neither really has grass-roots support (like Bachmann, Palin, or Cain) but instead has to hire his supporters. when you do that, they become a lot more mean, since their incomes depends on their guy going the distance.

It now stands at 73-27 with a lot more votes in.
