Texas Gov. Rick Perry is the easy winner of an Alabama Republican straw poll.

Romney was third with 36 votes.

Naaaa, they mistook the straw.

BTW Clairity. While lurking around a few enemy sites, one of them has come up with a potential new anti-Perry bumper sticker; READ MY LIPS NO NEW TEXANS!

I think it’s significant that Perry won as a write-in.

If I lived in Alabama and had the toughest set of immigration laws on the books in the country I would feel a lot freer to vote for Perry. His record of supporting “comprehensive immigration reform” in 06’ along with Swhartz,Napolitano and Richardson gives one the impression he is a Democrat.

That was funny. There is some truth there.

I will have to say, I do not see the point of these stupid straw polls. They mean little to nothing. There is only one good use for straw in my book.

They were busy bashing Perry on FR, all five of them...

I said the same thing to Bachmann supporters and I will say it to you.

Palin supporters (and I am one) are a very large block of the conservative base.

If you want to bring them into the Perry camp, I would suggest that insulting them like you have done here is not the best approach.

I’m praying this guy wins the Repub nomination. Besides supporting everything I do, he’s also from Texas which will drive the libs up the wall to no end “AHH It’s Bush again!” Yeah but only better mofos.

Therein lies the problem. It’s the federal government that writes immigration laws, not the states. And Alabama isn’t a border state. Perry focuses on what he can focus on, border security, and gets crucified for it. It’s ridiculous. Texas has 64% of the border and receives only 20% of the border security funding. Seems kind of like a setup, don’t you think? Of course he’s for “comprehensive immigration reform.” Something’s got to give. And like he says (repeatedly), no rational discussion on immigration reform can be had until we SECURE OUR BORDERS.

yeah that makes sense...five Palin supporters on FR. Take your amnesty loving Rick Perry cheerleading and go to another site. This is a conservative website, not a Republican website.... and if you think Perry has more support than Palin does on this site you are sorely mistaken.

I never said anything negative about Sarah, I used to like her a lot, for speaking out, etc.

But if we face reality, it’s clear that she is not running, she is just enjoying the “mystique” she is creating by leaving people guessing — I like her less because of it.

She is doing what Fred Thompson did back in 2008, and I think people “waiting for and worshipping” Fred were part of the reason that we ended up with McCain, and subsequently Obama.

I don’t want to end up with Obama for another 4 years and the only one who has a chance against him is Perry.

Reality is your friend.

Hey now, that’s not nice. There are A LOT of Palin supporters on FR. I love Sarah Palin. She is a born leader and would make an excellent President.

I don't know how many Tea Party people are on here, but posts like this should make it very clear: Rick Perry and his supporters are *not* supporters of the Tea Party.

THE TEA PARTY MUST REJECT RICK PERRY.

Passing Sanctuary and E-verify would have saved him so much heartache. E-Verify could have been done by executive order. His record is woeful due to the long stream of money from cheap labor interests. Now he will be pestered the whole time.

Yeah Fred Thompson and Sarah Palin are very similar...especially in their energy levels and campaigning ability...I see a lot of parallels...
