Iowa is a waste of time. The two people who come out ahead were Perry and Palin because they stayed out of it.

Romney, Perry or Palin. One of these three will be the one. And Palin hasn’t announced. Cain has no chance.

I think you're right.

Back when it was Romney versus Palin, it was The Rich Insider versus the Popular Outsider. Each one was basically in a war of attrition against the other, waiting for time to wear the other down, and claim their resources.

If it's Romney versus Perry, Romney is toast. The establishment knows Romney is hated by the grassroots, and they don't really like him except for his ability to raise cash.

Add Palin to the mix, and the result is the same. Romney is toast. Perry will become the establishment guy, plus whatever grassroots he can split with Palin. It would be a tough fight, but I don't think Palin supporters appreciate how deep Perry would cut into their support.

Bachmann is a VP candidate. A junior Representative ain't gonna be President. Perry might pick her up to utterly neutralize Palin. (I'm still hoping for Perry / Rubio, though).

Palin still has a narrow window to jump in the race and knock Perry out of the middle space. Perry's first goal is to consolidate the center against Romney, then absorb grassroots power wherever he can. If you let that run too long, it destroys any chance Palin has of jumping in late.

She may have already waited too long. She may have wanted to wait until October to jump in, but events are forcing her hand. Either she jumps, or she sits, and the decision's coming soon.

"People actually have to pay $30 to cast a vote."

Actually the candidates pay for a big majority of the tickets. They put on big feeds for the participants who have the tickets and even provide transport.

All these "straw polls" determine is which candidate has the better campaign organization in Iowa. They also provide a candidate some confidence that they should continue the run if they are in the top 3 or 4. This "straw poll" is part of the Iowa State Fair sideshow.

Wow, I’m shocked. How did the Ronulian’s fail to stuff the ballot box?

This gives me a bit of additional faith. Ron Paul showed himself as the barking moonbat he really is when discussing Iran. Glad to see his cult was rejected.

I agree. I was really turned off by Pawlenty and I like Bachmann, but I just don’t think she can win. I really like Cain, but he needs to be in the Senate.

Paul is an embarasssment.

I’m tired of liberals showing up and voting as “conservatives”. This retard showed his true colors with his “why should we care if Iran gets nukes” remark.

It doesn’t mean anything you’re correct. In a make or break way. Romney lost.

Mossad rigged the voting machines. The Jews will stop at nothing to keep the Reverend Paul from his rightful place on the throne.

With real solidarity on the part of the GOP - and I mean REAL solidarity (which ain't happening, admittedly) - Bachmann does have the chops for the job.

It'd take in-your-face-media activism, but it could be conceivable.

We've got an extremely vulnerable target in Zero, so "balls out" activism is in order.

I’m amazed that Santorum was 4th. That’s pretty good for a guy who’s the longest of long shots. I think his message resonates with a lot of people.

Congratulations Michele Bachmann and Ron Paul on their victory in the Iowa Straw Poll. This is a very unique election, so very important, and the dynamics of this Presidential Race is unlike any other and that includes the Reagan verses Carter race. The fact of the matter is, this Iowa Straw Poll was very important as far as the dynamics, and we now see two candidates who as of this moment are the contenders for the next President of the United States. What excitement this must mean for all Republicans!

I had just returned from San Diego last night, after a week of shocking Wall Street instability which angered me more than ever, more determined than ever to do what and anything we can to rid ourselves of these pests the Democrats and this buffoon Obama – I am so sick of their mob pests as well and their sick pig-like howls of “tax the rich!”, these are the pigs who have hurt and endangered my family, who simply want to steal from others and put our great nation in even further debt, these hogs are the selfish cockroaches who make it very clear in their pathetic, selfish, childish, brutish and bratish ways that it isn’t a question of a problem of others (translate, me and my family) “paying their fair share” (to the government class and the welfare class, and the illegals), rather it is a problem of those who have “taken MORE THAN THEIR FAIR SHARE” which means everyone of these brats and I am coming for them, I want my money back, my money back for poor service, for a poor product, and from leaches who stole it from me.

Most Republicans are very nice people, who would never say what I just said. But I am not nice. Not anymore.

Hallelujah, and congrats again to whom the Republicans pick as their choice in 2012. Because whoever that is, that is the next President of the United States.

Yup. His campaign was DOA after Iowa.

If only.

Anybody notice that some in the media are saying that Pawlenty might drop out, even though he finished 3rd, yet none of them are suggesting Romney drop out despite getting 1/3 Pawlenty’s total?

Are you shocked by that analysis?

I’m not.

Interesting numbers but useless until we know who’s im and who’s out. If Palin or Giuliani jump in, it could change the equation.

The Paul supporters are like the Westboro Baptist people. They show up in droves except on election day so I just lump those votes in “other”. Bachmann and Pawlenty get a home field advantage being from a neighboring state.

It will be interesting to see how quickly it takes for Cain, Huntsman and Gingrich to pull out and where their supporters and staff will go. McCotter probably can’t even be a future Jeopardy question.

Believe the top 5 will “live to fight another day” as Brett Baier discussed with Huckabee at length. The money will slowly dry up for the rest.

That means Santorum and Cain are still viable. Also heard that Perry will out class some in this group because in debates, he will go solely after the current incumbent and not the others in the group. That will outshine Pawlenty.

This is going to get interesting. Don’t count out Cain as a VP shot. Bachmann suffers from the “Congress syndrome.” Not many Prez’s went from Congress directly to the WH. People want to see executive experience especially with the economy in such a mess.
