Posted on 08/14/2011 3:50:13 PM PDT by DRey
I will work every day to make Washington, DC as inconsquential in your life as I can, says Rick Perry as he announces for president. Well, there it is. The 2012 race in a nutshellAmerica is not broken. Washington D.C. is broken, as Perry said, in contrast to Barack Obamas continuing insistence that government must somehow lead the way out of the economic doldrums with infrastructure banks and payroll tax cuts and extending unemployment insurance. If the dividing line between Republicans and Democrats is that Democrats want, in some sense, to direct America from Washington, Republicans believe the United States should not be directed, and should instead be managed as close to the citizenry as possible.
Most people outside Texas know very little about Perry, but given his standing as a kind of amalgam of George W. Bush and Sarah Palin and Mike Huckabee, he may soon occupy an unprecedented position in the imagination of liberals and the Leftperhaps the most frightening specter of anti-liberalism since Ronald Reagan precisely because he is electable. The conservative boogeyman is back."

I love the theme— most real Americans would love for Washington to be inconsequential on an average day.
Yep. The liberals are terrified of Perry.
As evidenced by the lib trolls on FR
I will work every day to make Washington, DC as inconsquential in your life as I can,
So he’s going to reform Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid? No? Call me when he gets a clue about our entitlement problem.
Then there’s the adoring followers here who seem to think his ordure is scent-free.
Yep. The liberals are terrified of Perry.
Don’t know if they are all liberals but some are damn sure terrified of Perry. They must really think he’ll be the nominee and walk right on into the WH. FR is going to be an interesting place for a while.
He has said on record he believes Social Security is unconstitutional.
I am not yet sold on Perry.
But this is a good start.
And his solution is? Somehow I doubt he’s going to be calling for the program’s abolishment. Those older folks get mighty cranky when that monthly check is threatened.
And Ron Paultards.
They are so easy to spot yet so ashamed to admit who they are supporting.
I’m posting a new thread on his policies now. He’s been in the race less than 24 hours.
And when he says "I will work every day to make our borders as impenetrable as I can", he will be relevant.
My only objection is that I don’t believe him.
Yeah, well.. look here:
I'm in favor of Perry. I do NOT ascribe objections to him as being a result of FEAR.
That's stupid. Ate up with the dumb ass, it is.
Folks in the Palin camp say that about her, and it's just as ate up.
I dislike both Rye bread and Lima beans.
I don't fear either. In fact I don't think Rye bread or Lima beans could ever hurt me at all.
But yet I dislike them both. Fear of them is not a factor.
There may be folks who fear these things.
Rye bread and Lima beans and Sarah Palin and Rick Perry might be scary as hell to some folks.
But to normal folks.. not so much. Calm down, Charlene.
It’s already started from all quarters .. we’ll see if Perry can take the heat ... i suspect he can
Rye bread and lima beans can’t take away your welfare.
“Yep. The liberals are terrified of Perry.”
Close, Conservatives are TERRIFIED of Perry, because of the damage a left-leaning Republican president can do.
But call me names if you think that helps your man, I’ll let my 10,000 posts on this site speak for themselves.
The media is mostly made up of partisan shill organizations and individuals working for the Demwits; they felt the sting of the 2010 referendum at least as deeply as the Demwit officeholders did. In 2012 the voters will reject both even more.
I'm gonna have to think about that one.
Even NumbersUsa, who gave most of the candidates a really bad report card (Perry D-, Palin D), ranked Perry as GOOD on the subject of border security.
What do you mean? You personally have delivered 10% of Palin’s flack to Perry, but unlike Palin, he’s still standing and will never quit on us.
Well at least your objection is reasonable, and the first reasonable objection I’ve heard about Perry since he announced.
Bob, you and the other four guys that think Rick is not conservative are really quite boorish.
But,I don’t think we will hear that.
There are three issues which I cannot compromise on.
Gun control, abortion, and immigration.
I like Perry but if he is wrong on any of these issues I cannot support him.
I fully expect the markets to make short work of both Medicare and Social Security at this point. when Bernanke is thru...a typical SS check won’t buy mouse food...and the medicare “benefit” will pay for the Kervorkian Konsult.
Perry the NEW John McLaim..
America may not fall for the bait and switch this time..
But you’re OK with FUBO? He’s creating real damage and destruction.
BTW, your 10,000 posts are meaningless, doesn’t mean you opinions are god-like. Just shows you have a lot of time on your hands.
I want to see people leaving Washington DC by the 10’s of thousands looking elsewhere for productive work.
The housing bubble should collapse there as it has done in the rest of the country.
Perry = Obama on illegal immigration. Like Obama, when Perry says Enforcement he means deporting only those who commit serious felonies. Texas is a magnet for illegals because Perry gives them college tution and welfare.
Nonsense. You keep waiting for St. Sarah to run. Until she does, the attacks on others is stupid. obami is the enemy, not other candidates.
[Perry] “directly attacked and admonished Obama for not fulfilling his oath as president to protect our nations borders from the illegal alien invasion.”
Perry is hiding behind Obama. All the RINO and Democratic governors pretend that they want to enforce the immigation laws. That allows governors like Perry to leave their borders wide open and say “It’s not my problem — it’s the Federal government’s job”.
Well, statistically.. they make you seem to be a fag. Maybe
you should post less about Ricky Martin and Justin Bieber.
Just a thought.
Yep. The Paultards on my FB page are seriously freaking out about Perry.
Yes, still angry about Medina!
Pawlenty is gone and Newt isn’t going anywhere ,so that means NO ROMNEY
So far, Perraddicts on FR can only attack the opponents to promote their boy. Pathetic!
Conservative Rick Perry is not. Shall we recount the TTC fiasco? Also, under the guise of closing a loophole in the Texas tax law to get MD’s to pay franchise taxes, everyone else’s, including mine trippled. How about the yearly escalating state fees tacked on to professional licenses? You wanna ask me about my property taxes?
If Rick Perry is the nominee I’ll vote for him for the same reason I voted for him 3 times in the Governor’s race: I will not vote for a dumbocrap, but don’t tell me he is a conservative.
One thing I took away from the debate was how intelligent those folks were. I enjoyed how each candidate seemed to try to shift the debate away from 'gotchas' and back towards issues. Certainly there were exceptions, and I am sure I can find things about each candidate I disagree with or don't like, but overall, again except for the Loon, I would absolutely be happier with pretty much any of them in place of the fool currently in the White House.
I look forward to hearing more from Perry - I like what I have heard so far.
If your property taxes went up, it wasn’t Perry’s doing but your school board. It is amazing to me how simple-minded some people are. You live in a black and white world. Perry gets results. Conservative results. And Texas has a balanced budget and NO income tax...still.
Perraddicts? Wow. Lame.
