Cain: My business experience ‘is much broader and much more extensive’ than Romney’s
The Daily Caller ^ | 8/19/11 | Jeff Poor

One of the knocks on President Barack Obama’s administration is that there is a deficit of business experience within his cabinet and among high-ranking advisers. So, it would stand to reason that his opposition would want to exploit that as a weakness.

And that’s a point former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney made in Ames, Iowa, last week, explaining that he and former Godfathers Pizza CEO Herman Cain were the only two in the GOP field with “business experience.” However, Cain was less complimentary toward his competitor as Romney was of him.

Cain, in an appearance on “Your World with Neil Cavuto” on the Fox News Channel, explained why he is stronger than Romney on business issues.

“I agree with Mitt Romney that he and I are the only two that have real hard business experience,” Cain said. “But my business experience quite frankly with all due respect is that mine is much broader and much more extensive. He was in the capital investment business.”

“He had an opportunity to pick a business that he thought he could turn into a winner and he could ignore those that were failing,” he explained. “My experience — I had to be assigned to businesses that were failing, businesses that needed to be turned around. I have dealt with small businesses as well as mega-corporations so mine is much more extensive, as well as broader — much more than Mitt’s.”

And Cain added his hands-on experience is evidence that he is a superior businessman.

“I have actually made a pizza. I have actually made a Whopper, so I know how to get closest to the problem when we want to solve something,” Cain said.

I would agree. Romney’s business background involves buying up companies, stripping them bare and placing the carcasses into bankruptcy.

It’s a moot point.
The people who would support Romney would never vote for Cain. The people who would support Cain would never vote for Romney.

Don’t know if you’re hinting at the mormon history of racism, but I will just come straight out and say it:

Obama will chew Romney up and spit him out, use that for all it’s worth, if the GOP is stupid enough to nominate him.

I know it’s not PC to say that, but it’s true. Next summer is going to be race baiting on steroids, and Romney is vulnerable. It needs to be considered.

That’s all well and good - but I want to know what has he done for our country, not himself.

Mr. Cain’s career was in business, not politics.

Mr. Cain’s campaign for the Presidency is not the anticipated culmination of his career, but a response to a call to serve which required him to alter his plans.

Actually, I know at least 5 people who have switched from Romney to Cain. They were going with whoever FOX was pushing a while back, until they did their homework.

Romney has nothing to stand on - only that he thinks for whatever reason - it’s his turn. Those days are over!

When I found out that Herman Cain used to be with the Fed, that tore it for me. If you’ve been in bed with those folks, you can’t get the stink off.

Romney will be gazing at his naval wondering WTF happened next summer, while either Palin or Perry sail to the nomination.

While I like Cain, this is faint praise indeed. Piper Palin's business experience is much broader and more extensive than Romney's and Obama's combined.

“I have actually made a pizza. I have actually made a Whopper, so I know how to get closest to the problem when we want to solve something,”

This is why people say that Cain is a guy that ran a pizza joint. When you say things like this what does he expect. Less words sometime is best.

Ridiculously stupid statement. How can you live with yourself saying something so absolutely insane. I love Palin and will write her name on the ballot especially if Romney or that fraud conservative Perry is nominated. HOWEVER, I just can’t be a liberal and lie. It is not becoming of a good person such as yourself. Romney has more executive experience than the Palin girl. Sheesh. Get to confession QUICK. That is one of the commandments.

I don't know that Cain minds too much being known as a guy that “ran a pizza joint” or a guy that has actually made a pizza or Whopper in his lifetime. Actually, when taken in context, I think the statement is useful in contrasting his business experience as opposed to Romney's.

I understand that many folks think you need to be an Ivy League Lawyer type of politician to win the Presidency but look where that template has gotten us. Cain's campaign is predicated on distinguishing himself from that template. Cain is what he is; a good man, who says what he thinks, and that's why he such a high intensity rating among his supporters.
