Obama dangerously close to a 'Killer Rabbit' moment
Chicago Tribune ^ | August 19, 2011 | John Kass

Is President Barack Obama on the verge of being attacked by a bunny wabbit?

Absolutely.

All the signs suggest that Obama is in immediate danger of a rabbit attack. It would ruin what's left of his presidency. And it would horrify Democrats by ushering in, say, a President Bachmann.

It might happen while he's on that ridiculous vacation of his. Obama is chilling at some exclusive multimillion-dollar estate on Martha's Vineyard, even as thousands more Americans hit the unemployment lines, and as Republicans like Michele Bachmann make wild-eyed, crazed claims about bringing back $2 per gallon gas.

"I think it's a little too early yet for the president to be attacked by a rabbit," cautioned a veteran Chicago Democrat wise in the ways of Obama. "But it's close. Real close."

Anyone who thinks Obama is safe from a rabbit attack has forgotten what happened to President Jimmy Carter In 1979. Carter was attacked by a swimming rabbit, and the subsequent "Killer Rabbit" stories helped destroy his presidency. It led to the election of Republican Ronald Reagan in a landslide and an unprecedented economic revival.

There are eerie similarities.

Somehow, I think the demise of the Carter administration and the election of Reagan had more to do with other issues than the rabbit thing.
This columnist wants to make it look like Carter was just a victim of circumstance. Typical liberal - it had nothing to do with his obvious failures.

Gas was around .75 cents per gallon back then! Gas now is at 3.59 a gallon. We didn’t have any respect in the world.
Who cares if interest rates are low you can’t get a loan.

I’d like to see a montage of clips including Geithner saying we wouldn’t be downgraded and Obama saying there is no chance of us slipping back into recession.

That’d be effective.

I was alive. Obama is worse.

People have no idea how bad this health care law is because it hasn’t been implemented yet.
It’s about to be though.

His deficiencies are different than Carters - their failures are not identical. They are failures nonetheless.

“...but is he really as bad as President Carter.”

He is far worse. President Carter might have felt he was leading a declining American, President Obama wants America to decline.

The 70s was bad, really bad, but at least there was activity.

Now everything is moribund.

And I don’t think Carter hated America and Americans, I think Obama really does. Maybe hate is too strong a word, but his disdain is unmistakeable.

Oars or a boat motor. It doesn't paddle well due to it's boxy design. It's flat bottomed, and doesn't ride as well as a 'V' shaped boat, so it's best for shallow water. Used mainly by hunters and fisherman since it's more stable than a 'V' shaped boat.

I’m old enough to compare the two presidents. As inept as Carter was, I never had any doubt that he was firmly committed to interests of the United States. I have grave doubts that Obama shares that commitment.

Right, Reagan won because of the rabbit and not the Misery Index. Whatever.

No comparison. Not at all. Carter was a bumbling fool with an ego. Obama is a pathological liar. Obama is an extreme anti American dressed as some kind of "historic", "Lightbringing", transcendental figure. The worst part is that Obama actually believes what his state run media say about him, and to him, this gives him authority which is not granted by the Constitution.

If Obama could, he would dissolve the Congress and rule in perpetuity.

With Biden providing a Greek Chorus of "Summer of Recovery".

Rabbit attack?

Nah, but Obama might choke on a $198.00 lobster dinner from some upscale restaurant...

Or drop a twenty dollar ice cream cone on a perfect beach.

Dropped on a beach America's kids will never see... not even in their dreams in this economy.

Obama's having fun with his people - the liberal elite's of the Vineyard... how nice.

Are you kidding? The 6 year old would tear up lil’ barry and send him crying to Moochelle! Maybe an evil scary Tea-Partier that gets too close to barry(within 6ft) and waves an (gasp) American Flag in his face! LOL...

“I think a little girl will try to attack him when he takes her bike by accident. Headline: “Obama fends off attack by 6 year old girl after taking her bike”

That’s racist.

>What’s starting to scare me is that, at some point, Obozo is going to wake up to the reality that people don’t like him and his socialist ideas. At that point, he may start using the powers of Executive Order to institute things that couldn’t pass Congress. He’s already started this by using regulatory agencies to institute laws that impact the economy (e.g., use the EPA since cap-and-trade looks DOA).<

A good point you made there.

As you said he is already doing this. By fiat he gave amnesty to illegals on a “case by case” basis - and messed with more regulations while on vacation.
But being the total narcissist that he is when he gets more public scrutiny, heckling and is called out on the campaign trail with his failed policies and socialist nonsense he will get more angry.

All he will be able to do is what all dictators do, lash out and make us pay through his mighty pen and trashing of our constitution. It will become a self perpetuating downward spiral.

The more he is jeered and less adored the more he lashes out. The more he lashes out the more he sets himself up for negative confrontations. He will unravel during this election cycle because now he is meeting people again up close and personal. (not that he ever really stopped campaigning) but he was more removed from people.

It will be the first time in his life that he takes a public stage and is not viewed as some kind of god. Even the media will no longer be able to shield him. All they will do is question why people are being so “disrespectful” “mean” and that they don’t appreciate him ..

I agree. Carter was inept, but wasn’t out to destroy the country he loved by purposeful mismanagement. I believe he was his own man. O is evil, and is in office to bring us down. He is on the side of those who lead him.

And I wouldn't want to see the Chicago City Hall guys running away from Obama, shrieking, their hands up as they skedaddle to leave the president to confront the Killer Rabbit alone.

>I don’t want to completely defend Obama, but is he really as bad as President Carter. Thankfully I was not alive during that era. However, there was gas lines, high interest rates, Iran hostage crisis, high unemployment, among other embarassments. President Obama doesn’t lack deficiencies, but it seems like it was unnecessarily painful to live during the Carter years.<

I remember it. The difference between Carter and Obama is simply this. Almost all of Carters agenda was felt directly at the time - his policy was instant failure and Americans had the displeasure of it in real time.

Obama has set much of his agenda in the future. It will be more painful to be sure, but Americans will be blaming someone else for it because it was set on a timer. Like Obamacare (just one example) will not be fully implemented for many years.

he is much worse than carter when you think of the overall effects of his failed policy and degeneration of the American way of life. It is just on hold for a while.
