Over the next 18 months, the Environmental Protection Agency will finalize a flurry of new rules to curb pollution from coal-fired power plants. Mercury, smog, ozone, greenhouse gases, water intake, coal ash—it’s all getting regulated. And, not surprisingly, some lawmakers are grumbling.
Industry groups such the Edison Electric Institute, which represents investor-owned utilities, and the American Legislative Exchange Council have dubbed the coming rules “EPA’s Regulatory Train Wreck.” The regulations, they say, will cost utilities up to $129 billion and force them to retire one-fifth of coal capacity. Given that coal provides 45 percent of the country’s power, that means higher electric bills, more blackouts and fewer jobs. The doomsday scenario has alarmed Republicans in the House, who have been scrambling to block the measures. Environmental groups retort that the rules will bring sizeable public health benefits, and that industry groups have been exaggerating the costs of environmental regulations since they were first created.

Try the 10th or 11th century. The current occupants of the White House will be quite content to rule over a world lit only by fire as long they believe that they'll be the ones in the high castle. Millions of us dead. The rest of us in chains. That's the goal. Some of them have even said as much.

Seemed a weird headline when the article goes on to point out that he thinks it is much ado about nothing.
Great! I'll be healthy enough to work a second job to pay my new electric bill.

People aren’t going to die from the coal burning plants as much as they are going to die from heat stroke or hypothermia.
And yet, where are the Republican candidates who say right now that when they are elected, they will slash the EPA until it returns to its original, very limited mission?
And not just the EPA. The downsizing of the federal government should be a top priority for all Republican presidents. Right now they could, as a group, be collecting signatures from congressmen and senators who will back this deconstruction.
What is enough? 20%? 30% 40% or more?
Say to the EPA, “Your budget next year will be half of what it is right now. Downsize accordingly. Start from the most recent hires and policies, and work your way up and back.”

Maybe this is Obama's plan to fix social security, medicare and underfunded pensions?
I really believe this is what a radical Muslim plant playing President would do.
If there is any doubt in your mind that this is what is going on, use this as a litmus test. Next month the UN is going to try to force Israel to withdraw to pre-1967 borders. Anybody with a brain KNOWS this will make Israel indefensible and allow the Muslim hordes to finally destroy Israel.
The US normally blocks such silliness but Obama, if he really is a Muslim will throw Israel under the bus. You may not get it until the UN and the US attack Israel to enforce the change.

Obama said he would bankrupt the coal companies when he was running for election.

Why don’t the states have the balls to tell the EPA that they will not recognize regulation of enterprises within the state. Tell the to FOAD and then dare them to do something about it.
