If the Republican Presidential race were a poker game, you could say that Palin, the underdog has remained in late position long enough to see the full ring, to expose the live ones. She’s learned their tells, and she’s seen some bust, but now it’s time for her to go all in with what looks to be a royal flush.
If you’re not a poker player, you may need a poker dictionary to decipher my analogy. And “they” think she doesn’t know how the game of politics is played. The good old boys just never realized that she wasn’t playing by their rules.
If, or rather when, Sarah Palin announces her candidacy for President; Republican polls will likely shift in her favor.

But I also think she waited too long. It's not like this is a sudden thought "Sarah Palin? Candidate for 2012?".
Since 2008 when many Americans thought of 2012, the name Sarah Palin was the next thought.
What Americans do not want to see in these terrible times is political strategies on when to announce.
As Rush Limbaugh said: "any candidate that has not yet announced either has no idea how bad off we are in the United States these days or they're playing politics with our dilemma."
I was hoping that Sarah Palin would have been the first to announce.
“She has much to lose, and not a lot to gain.”
I think she has more to lose by not running than suffering a primary loss. People follow leaders, not kingmakers.

Coming in as a Sarah Palin supporter is a smart way to start.
Watch out for the PDS crowd though—many are just plain nasty and will try to hurt your feelings;)

How is she a quitter?
The State Run media did everything to destroy her and she is still standing. All those wild goose chases and false charges she had to withstand and defend make her my choice, but I don't think she can be elected with the unfair treatment my the media. They hate her like no other candidate. BTW, welcome to FR.
It isn't that hard to understand the brilliance of Palin's move in resigning her governorship. It wasn't an issue of quitting. Palin's move outflanked her enemies. It gave her the edge she needed to arrive to the point she is at right now. Alaska and Gov. Parnell have benefited by her bold move and so has Sarah Palin herself. The only ones harmed by her resignation are Obama, the Dems in congress and the political machine hellbent on destroying her. And to a lesser extent, the Republican establishment(many of whom post here on FreeRepublic denigrating her)
That's utter horse manure.
Here's the spin had she stayed in and campaigned:
“She is neglecting her governor duties to sell books and make a name for herself”
“Why is she never in Alaska doing her job?”
Some people just have an agenda against her. She scares a lot of people because she doesn't follow their “script”.
Well the following the script has nearly ruined this nation.
Some are just scared of a woman being President; on the left and the right.
We need someone who do things very differently. We have very little time to save this nation; I hope it's not too late already.
All I have to say to your opinion is:

It is truly amazing how many purportedly intelligent people (including FReepers) don't understand that Palin' quitting the governorship was an unconventional (and, thus, unexpected) step that completely befuddled her detractors and demonizers.
You might say, she stole a march on them -- diminishing her legal liability and, at the same time, enhancing her freedom of action for the future.
For anybody who wished to maintain their political viability, it was a brilliant action.
Indeed, Palin has proven that she is one of the most unconventional politicians ever. And one of the most successful -- given how effectively she's dealt with the media over the past three years.

Staying on as governor would've been the easy thing to do. And it would've been a political loser, long-term. Quitting was risky, thus harder, but it was her one way to win the game.

This nation is in serious trouble. While I give Sarah Palin much of the credit for our wins in 2010. If it weren't for Sarah Palin we would have a lot less power these days in DC. The GOP needs Sarah Palin.

It might be that she didn’t PLAN to announce on the third, but the people are coming from everyhere across the country to this event because they BELIEVE she will. The pundits and the msm have possibly trapped her into having to announce by hyping this. A lot of the people who are going to this literally NEED for her to announce and I think she knows it. If she doesn’t, it might screw her for good. A lot of her supporters will be just apoplectic if they feel she let them down. Either way. I think she will.

They are stuck with the same "lesser of two evils" choice that is used to urge people to vote party instead of conscience.
