Liberals want to stop Rick Perry because they know that future illegal immigrants and anchor babies will become democrats and Rick Perry has worked to stop illegal immigration in Texas and stopped amnesty.

>>>Then quit backstabbing for ron-larryflint-paul.

You are an ignorant wazoo aperture. The only nice thing I’ve ever said about Ron Paul is he’s nuttier than squirrel poop at a Planter’s factory. Now, go stick your head back up your arse...

“...Tea Party extremism...”, eh?

I kinda liked "militantly low-tax" myself! ;-)

So the "unelectable appeal" the author feels Rick Perry has is that Rick Perry is a head-strong, strong-willed, God-living conservative.

I think you summed it up well. Rick Perry is very much a mainstream conservative.

Some on here want to pretend he is the second coming of Lenin. The MSM wants to pretend he is a raving lunatic.

The truth of the matter is that he is a strong, conservative candidate on almost all the issues. If that is "unelectable", then it truly is over for the country, and as a nation we deserve the continued misery that lies ahead.

I predict that if he is nominated, he will prove to all but the most rabid partisans that his approach is a common sense one, and that he will be our next President. In some ways, the MSM is doing him a favor by creating a caricature of him that will completely fall apart when voters really get to know him.

I must look up the name of the politician who said that "running against Perry was like running against God". It's irreverent but gets the point across.

Perry will constantly poke at Obama's thin skin and cause much angst, lol.

“...scared Sh$#@less even.”

Great, that’s where we need democrats to be!

I don’t see a downside to that at all, no matter what this rag says about US. Especially what this rag says about US

Go drink your tea and have your biscuits, FT.

I’ll have a Shiner Bock, St. Arnold’s or Lone Star with some nachos!

I’m not too thrilled with the Crescent & Star. Isn’t that the flag of some of the bad guys?

Throw me a line, someone. I don’t know exactly what I’m thinking.

If you think a promise to reduce the size and importance of Washington is unobtainable, maybe you'd be more comfortable on another web site.

If you honestly think that the congressional leadership of either party has the political courage necessary to take the hard steps that would reduce the size and importance of government then I believe you will be sadly disappointed. Regardless of which Republican wins in 2012.

Contrast that with Sarah Palin’s record who made a living in fighting the entrenched interests from BOTH parties!

Rick Perry started as a Democrat in West Texas (that was THE only party). He served in the Texas legislature - was known as one of the "pit bulls," conservative members who sat in the lower pit of the House Appropriations Committee and bitterly fought spending increases.

Perry changed parties in 1989, joining Phil Gramm and other conservative Texas Democrats, who now had a true ideological party with a burgeoning Texas GOP.

When Perry campaigned for Lt. Gov. [1998], he and his campagin staff were in it to win and his hard-nosed style was against the "friendly" advice and request of GWB and Rove to run easy against Sharp, a popular democrat (and Aggie friend of Perry's from their A&M years together). Rove wanted to broaden Bush's base for his upcoming White House run. Perry told them where to stick their advice, because he knew the voters would vote for Bush and then cross back over and vote for Sharp (D) if he just walked through the motions like the Bush-Rove team asked him to do.

Perry won the seat for Lt. Gov. -- the first GOP elected to that office since reconstruction. Now 13 years later and into his 3rd term as Texas governor, the GOP holds a super majority. So Perry has earned his conservative spurs -- fighting both parties! [The Bushes and Rove supported Kay Bailey Hutchison's primary challenge against Gov. Perry this last election too]

That’s great....this is what Perry says: whose electoral strategy is “to keep your boot on your opponent’s neck until after the election and all the votes are counted.”

“Don't let the MSM choose our candidate.”

Agree!

Fight the MSM at any point trying to choose our candidate. They aren't so smart as they are wily. Watch them and constantly bust them.

OK...Rubio can not run for VP if he is a Native Born Citizen. Both his parents were born in Cuba...now they were born when Cuba was a self governing US Colony. Which made them US Citizens. The question is did his parents renounce their US Citizenship to become Cuban Citizens? IF they did then Rubio is not a NATURAL BORN CITIZEN...which you must be to run for VP or President. The fact that his father became a naturalized citizen long after Marco was born tells me they did in fact renounce their US Citizenship. However, if they never renounced it then he was born to parents who were US Citizens and he is then eligible to run for VP because his status is a NBC.

Thanks Shield. I thought of that comment and pulled out and redid that old gif, which used to be Kerry being kicked by the Texas boot!

Nice photos...really nice photos.

Perry photographs well. He's got some real Texas earned facial wrinkling but I don't vote on wrinkling.

Obama supporters, some anyway, did vote on his handsome (?!)appearance.
Puh....leeze!
