“Skynews says Obama is to make a statement later this
evening.”

The Zero has to wait til Axelrod’s speech is ready, y’know, the speech in which Zero reveals that he, personally, orchestrated this overthrow.

OTOH, an editorial like that will be in the NY Slimes Monday.

Oh man...so that's how its gonna go. Bam is going to take credit on exactly how to topple a country, overthrow a dictator (unlike Bush of course; he did it wrong and is still to blame for O's problems) and in one fell swoop finished what Reagan started!! Meanwhile, the aftermath will be but a 10 second sound bite at 3am on CNN just so it is shown to be a "covered" operation.

Who lied and who died, Libs?? I fear what the replacement will be.

Heh.

Well, can’t say I’m sad to see Gaddafy go. Best wishes for the people of Libya. Winning war is one matter....winning peace is another.

Wonder if the US government would be so eagerly supporting these various overthrows if the target was Saudi Arabia or Kuwait or UAE?

Wonder what Obama would do? Would we stay loyal to them, or throw them under the bus? Arguably, the King of SA and the Emir of Kuwait are indeed dictators.......

It is going to be a temporary bump.. Like when he had OBL killed. I'm glad Gadaffi is gone, but the main issue is going to be the economy..

What I fear is that there will be more "UN" approved operations without the approval of Congress.

At least Qaddafi surrendered the yellow cake.

This is all about Qaddafi’s billions in $$ and its oil.

And, Khalifa.

And the Alawite, Ba’athists may well turn out to ACTUALLY HAVE all those WMDs their fellow Ba’athist, Saddam had after all. The Turks are already attacking the Kurds in N.Iraq (like always, really).

Replacing a demon with the devil. Watch and see.

Agreed. As much as it pains me to say this, between the two sides, Kadaffy is the better one. He did keep his Wahabist Islamist in check/ Also, despite my opposition to socialism and planned economies, at least he managed to raise the standard of living for many Libyans by building them houses with electricity, running water and A/C. If this was 1986, yeah, I'd say, "go get him," but with the exception of a few peeps, he was behaving and as long as he did, we should have left him alone. I learned long ago, not to toss rocks at hornet's nests and that is what NATO and Obama is doing.

Someone made the point that Kadaffy could have a nuke planted in Tripoli to defeat the rebels when they get inside the city. I don't know, but if I was Kadaffy, I'd either have a nuke, dirty nuke or some chemical gas trap ready to go while I'd cover my escape and resort to assymetrical warfare. Don't forget, Kadaffy used assymetrical warfare in the 1960's, he will do so again.

مُعَمَّر القَذَّافِي ‎ Muʿammar al-Qaḏḏāfī

The 'a in Mu'ammar is a weird letter, a consonant, not in the English language. It's a sort of 'a' pronounced in the back of the throat.

The Q is a 'q' in Arabic, but has local pronunciations, like a soft 'q' or 'gh' The 'q' can be pronounced in the back of the throat, making it a muffled sound.

The 'd' is doubled, so it's a long 'd' of all things.

The last 'a' is a long 'ah' sound.

So, Qaddafi can be pronounced q(qh) ah dd ahhh (emphasize the dd ahh syllable) f ee.

Unless you know ayn, the weird 'a' of his 1st name, you're on your own here.

Yes, and the price of oil is supposed to fall even further now that the “uncertainty” is over. Yeah, sure!

Oil has already fallen more than 20%, and gas prices here in Los Angeles are down a nickel or so. The local Unocal station’s price has been stuck at $3.75/gallon for a couple of weeks now.
The real price should be more like $3.05.
