ORANJESTAD, Aruba Police in Aruba searched a brushy coastal area for seven hours Monday but found no new leads into the case of a Maryland woman who disappeared on the Dutch Caribbean island, a prosecution official said.
The officers combed through the vegetation around Sereoe Colorado for the remains of the missing woman, Robyn Gardner, or anything that might link her travel companion, Gary Giordano, to her disappearance.
The area that was searched is near the southern tip of Aruba, not far from where Giordano, a businessman from Gaithersburg, Maryland, reported that Gardner disappeared while they were snorkeling on Aug. 2.
Solicitor General Taco Stein said the search, the latest of several in the area, yielded no new information and there are no plans to resume it. He said investigators are focusing on other matters, including the account of a new witness who may have seen the couple on the island and came forward in recent days. Stein said he could not provide further details.

boycott! not a safe place
Aruba law is weird. If her body isn’t found within the next 10 or so days this schmuck will probably walk.
Go to the Aruba national dead American woman dump,Killing ladies must be a pastime down there.
Yet, what in the world is it going to take to get these girls to stop going off to places like that, and especially with someone they just met on the INTERNET.
Same with those boys in the Iran prison now, what were they thinking, Oh!, lets go for a trek along the border to see what we can see, sounds like fun to me. NOT
The Prime suspect was all over the Holloway investigation.
He had to have heard a million theories about how the poor girl’s body could have been disposed of without risk of it being found.
Given the snorkeling location it’s a safe bet the current victim is wedged under a reef, facing the open ocean.
I think I’ve seen this movie before.
I agree with you. I even remember people showing fairly detailed maps of currents on TV and explaining if a body were in certain locations it would not wash back up to shore but would go out into the ocean. I wonder if the suspect took her there to begin with because he already had a plan for disposing of a body there.
Come to Aruba.
The vacation to end all vacations!
I know there’s a 99% chance I’m wrong but here goes: she’s still alive and hiding.
Well it appears she was no Angel....XXX pictures on the Perps camera. I was telling the Wife last night that it was possible she was in on the insurance scan and that she was alive and well.
“boycott! not a safe place”
I bet more than two people have gone missing in California over the last five years.
Does that make California and every other state where more than two people have gone missing in five years unsafe places and worthy of boycott?
You will, perhaps, forgive me if I avoid testing that theory. If you see her, share it with Natalie. No doubt she'll get a laugh out of it.
Well they’re batting .1000 on American blonds.
And Nancy Grace will remain gainfully employed.
The guy she went with she had met on a dating site. Her longtime boyfriend said she didn’t like the water and would not get her hair wet or wade in further than her waist. More telling, the guy she went with took out a huge insurance policy right before the trip. Pretty obvious.
Aruban law enforcement couldn’t find their butts with both hands and a flashlight, and their legal system is so convoluted it must have been drawn up by Alfred E. Newman. I wouldn’t even want to fly over their corrupt little island let alone go there for a vacation.
>>> boycott! not a safe place
The Vatican wouldn’t necessarily be any safer if she had instead gone there with a stranger she had just met online.
The Holloway case had the local authorities undeniably covering up for influential parties. By contrast here I can’t see that they aren’t doing their jobs.
White slavers may have got her. The coast of Venezuela is just a half day sail from Aruba.
“White slavers may have got her. The coast of Venezuela is just a half day sail from Aruba.”
Good Point and they keep going down to that trash pile!
She had been dating Gary for over a year behind her boyfriends back. And she knew he was abusive. She lied to her boyfriend about going to Aruba with Gary. She told him she was going on a family vacation.
He was texting her while we were at breakfast, very angry at her because she decided she wasn’t going to go on the cruise. And his responses by text, which I don’t feel comfortable repeating, were aggressive, harmful, something that doesn’t sit right within myself’
Robyn Gardner’s best friend Christina Jones on Gary Giordano (ABC News)
News emerged on Friday Ms Gardner was in the middle of an alimony battle with her ex-husband, Kenneth Gardner, when she disappeared in Aruba.
The pair were divorced on May 6, 2009 after eleven years of marriage.
According to RadarOnline.com, Mr Gardner was ordered to pay his ex-wife $2,000 per month for 36 months and two lump sum payments of $15,000 in October of 2009 and 2010.
According to filings in the Circuit Court for Frederick County in Maryland, Mr Gardner petitioned to modify the alimony earlier this year, which Ms gardner opposed.
A settlement conference with a mediator is scheduled for October 7, 2011.
Prior to their separation, the couple lived in luxury suburban Washington, D.C. According to Radar, their their home had two mortgages, however, and Mr Gardner lost his job with a construction company.
Ms Jones said Ms Gardner had met Giordano on a dating website more than a year ago and her best friend was aware that he had a history of domestic abuse allegations.
She was surprised to hear Ms Gardner tell her that she was going to Aruba with Giordano - but her friend had recently lost her job as a dental assistant and was having relationship trouble.
Ms Jones said Ms Gardner, whom she described as a trusting and sweet friend, had been with her boyfriend Richard Forester for more than two years and just wanted to get away.
She made me feel better, that it was going to be OK and she was just going to clear her head, Ms Jones told ABC News. She was just so light-hearted about it and kind of needed to get away.
