White House unveils plans to trim regs, save at least $10 billion
The Hill ^ | August 23, 2011 | Erik Wasson

Posted on 08/23/2011 11:39:35 AM PDT by yoe

The Obama administration on Tuesday announced plans to streamline hundreds of regulations across all government departments and said that the review will “likely” save at least $10 billion over five years.

House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va.), however, called the effort "underwhelming." The regulatory review does not address the kinds of major items the GOP would like to eliminate, such as those associated with the Dodd-Frank financial reform, the Obama healthcare reform or a raft of new environmental regulations, including the possible regulation of greenhouse gases.

[snip] Cass Sunstein, the chief of regulations at the Office of Management and Budget noted the most significant changes, saving some $4 billion over five years, come from the Department of Labor, the Environmental Protection Agency and the Department of Transportation.

[snip]The DOL change will simplify hazard warnings, saving $2.5 billion, while the Transportation Department is relaxing rules on railroads.

[snip]Sen. John Barrasso (R-Wyo.), who is leading the Senate GOP's fight against regulations, said that the Obama initiative is insufficient given the tide of new rules. "Since the start of the year, the administration has proposed more than 340 regulations at a cost of more than $65 billion to job creators. It is important to note that these are only the regulations for which the administration actually conducted an economic analysis. For hundreds more, it has regulated blindly, with no cost or job numbers associated with its rules," he said.

[snip] Responding to the criticism, Sunstein told reporters that $10 billion in savings is very significant. [snip] He said that the administration is implementing Dodd-Frank and healthcare reform in a way that is sensitive to costs

They are counting on the stupid people not to see this for what this is...A TOTAL BS MOVE...

Private Sector jobs will not be added due to obamacare....the economy can't rebound because of obamacare....

Appears when Rick Perry told the stupid gangster administration to put a hold on all new regulations this is what they've done...window dressing...what a joke.

“the EPA and the Department of Education should be removed leaving untold billions of misspent dollars in the Treasury.”

Add the Department of Energy to the list.

If the truth were known I think that we would find out that The Messiah spends $10 Billion a year on his vacations. You start adding up all the security, air planes, all the costs for relatives and friends and stuff that is not on any public record and I’d wager it’s close.

It took us 230 years to accumulate 10.6 trillion of debt by 2009. In 31 short months Obama has increased the debt 4 trillion to 14.6 trillion. He is on course, if he has 8 years, to borrow as much as we have in the first 230 years.

Geez, these libs lie with every breath.

This is, of course, after dumping MORE regulations on us.

It’s like listening to president Bozo talk about reducing the deficit after he INCREASED it to historic levels.

If I was a lying liberal I’d go out and buy a new Mercedes Benz and once my wife stops screaming I’d say, “okay, I’m for reducing our car budget, I’ll trade it in for a Lexus”.

Of course, I’d then be sleeping on the street.

I’ve got an idea where they can save 400K annually.

We could have saved that on the vacation he is currently on.

In fairness, they’ve gotten rid of the Fairness Doctrine. As for all those regs that Al Gore got rid of, Man-Bear-Pig put ‘em all back in because real live PO’d Cubans slightly outnumbered dead voters in Florida in 2000, and stopped Al from becoming President. Curse you, Man-Bear-Pig!

$10B / 5 Years = $2B / Year

Cost of Federal Government Regulation:

The ‘hidden tax’: Report estimates regulation costs economy $1.75 trillion

Read more: http://dailycaller.com/2011/04/19/the-hidden-tax-report-estimates-regulation-costs-economy-1-75-trillion/#ixzz1VtYWH6S5

$2,000,000,000 / $1,750,000,000,000 = 0.114%

Less than one tenth of one percent of the annual cost of Regulation.

Way to go 0bambi! You’ve achieved sub-rounding error!

These people are not living in the real world. The government spends that in a couple of days.
