SE Pennsylvania reporting in. The tornado warnings have been popping up all around us. Not our community yet, but south of us and north of us. Been raining now for over 8 hours, some quite heavy. We heard a big noise a about 30 minutes ago and thought it was a falling tree. My husband did a walk-around in the rain and didn't find a fallen tree. The limb on the roof didn't look large enough for the noise, but maybe so. While we were outside checking the roof, we heard big cracking noises which sounded like trees breaking in the wooded area across road. We haven't had much wind yet. It's going to be a long night.

We drove around about an hour and half ago when our son needed a ride home. The streets are very wet, but pooling isn't too bad, and some notorious low spots are still basically draining. Our creek is high, but not yet over its banks. Power flickers from time to time, but no disruptions so far.

“and everyone is just waiting.”

Yep, pretty much. We’re an hour north of Albany, NY. We did some prep, but not a lot. Have a son & his fiancee on Long Island (Westbury). She helped evacuate Good Samaritan hosital earlier today. They’re in a 3rd floor apartment. More worried about a killer tree behind one of twin daughters’ houses in Albany area.

Good job staying on top of the generator installation. Not a moment too soon!

Yup, as prep’ed as I can think of without having plywood over every window and all trees within sight cut down :) Do wish I had a high capacity sump pump and a generator for the basement, but oh well.

Stay safe as well.

Trying to catch up on the thread here before the power goes again. We had a short blip early in the evening then it came back on. Now we are having little hiccups. I will tell Barry hi before he goes to bed. I’m in the wrong house. I wanted to be in the one without trees all around for this. Guess that isn’t happening now.

Dang.. The power went out, came on again, and my response is still here! Technology, ain’t it grand?

Again this is a political forum. By the way, not an entertainment forum.

There is a concern with the politics of weather forecasting and storm disaster management directly related to this thread -- as as demonstrated the concerns of mojitojoe with the pressure reading numbers, and the concerns of others with wind speeds, and with the hyping of severity of this storm since it's inception. Who do you trust, and how and why do you trust them?

I haven't discussed Geraldo or Shep Smith or any of the other entertainment personalities often posted about, and joined by yourself on this thread. I do not consider such posts on-topic. Do you?

And while you are an esteemed fellow Freeper, no one "owns" a thread. Threads do meander around a topic and often veer into worthwhile off-topic discussions. This is the very nature of open discussion.

BTW- the rain and wind are heavier or seem to be more than has been forecasted. We weren’t expecting this kind of wind or rain until about 8:00 AM Sunday. I was going to put this in the other reply but I got distracted when the power left us. We are in Chester County, Pa.

Local weather folks are saying over 5 inches of rain already in Philadelphia (and Abington). That seems consistent with what we’ve been seeing. It started raining at 3, and hasn’t stopped.

Lots of engines trying to open closed roads. 235 and 245 were/are blocked (I can’t tell) and there was a rescue call that had guys trying desperately to open a roadway near the fairground area, but they had to send out the call to abort. The storm is intensifying and all units were ordered back to their stations. Sad :(
