Rick R. said that the Hudson AND East Rivers are flooding...so far on the Upper East Side I can report that it’s just raining hard with lots of branches on the ground. Nothing too traumatic.

All is well, Pen. The Con Ed guy told the Friends that only some parts of the city may lose power so I think I’m safe. I’m near the East River, which is flooded, but so far so good.

So glad to hear it. These folks walking around on the boardwalks in NJ are making me a nervous wreck..lol. Don’t they realize that if the piers go, so do they? The things people do during this kind of weather boogles the mind.

JFK SE 39 gusting to 53 0850.

According to NOAA 0800, Irene should be at or near JFK right now. Hopefully, the wx. instrumentation @ JFK is very, very good. This suggests further weakening if it is accurate.

I'm not concerned, because Obama has taken command personally at the National Hurricane Center.

Perhaps he can bestow on all of us the special gift he has - that of walking on water.

We were driving yesterday westbound on I-90 from Albany to Utica, and we passed at least 200 utility trucks with lifts, 50 flatbed trucks with backhoes on them, and about 100 plain white vans with logos that matched the utility trucks, going eastbound. This was just within one hour’s time. The electric cavalry, said Mr. RightField.

= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =
I have kind of had it with all this Government ‘hands on’ handling these weather fluctuations.

Great example of why we ‘need’ something of this sort.

Heard a Fire Chief/Spokesman warn people to NOT set up their gasoline generators in the house.
Then (without use the word if you are dumb enough) he cautioned if you should do something that foolish, definitely do NOT light off your grill in the same room.

Something tells me they had just returned from a fire or call with the above ‘problem’.

AND these idiots get the same vote as you and I - probably more if someone takes them to the different voting places...
