Has Sarah Palin exhausted the patience of her supporters?
The Christian Science Monitor ^ | 08/24/2011 | Peter Grier

There is some evidence that while waiting for a potential Sarah Palin presidential run, her potential voters have moved on and now support other tea party-backed candidates, such as Rick Perry or Michele Bachmann.

Has Sarah Palin waited too long to announce she’s running for president?

(...) So if she does throw her snow machine helmet into the ring, she might start a White House race closer to the back of the pack than the front.

First, let’s address the waiting part. The former Alaska governor on Tuesday denied that she intends to announce a White House bid on September 3, (...)

(snip)

Palin might use the September 3 address to endorse another candidate. She might use it to make it clear she will announce at some point – Governor Perry used that same sort of slow-unveiling strategy as he edged into the race.

But the problem is at this point she may be exhausting the patience of potential Palinites.

(snip)

“I think Palin could get back a number of voters should she get into the race – people who gave up on her running and moved on to someone else. But, I do not think it would put her in a strong enough position to get into first or second place,” writes Erickson.

Some other analysts are less negative. In an opinion piece for CNN, political scientist Paul Sracic of Youngstown State University in Ohio writes that Palin’s on-camera optimism about America seems natural and akin to that of GOP icon Ronald Reagan.

“This offers at least the possibility that, despite her current low standing in the polls, she will be able to leap-frog over the more negative sounding Bachmann and Perry, and compete head-to-head with Romney,” writes Sracic.

As much as I can’t wait for her to get in, I have to say I’m getting such a kick out of watching her tweak all the experts, pundits, and “concern trolls” by doing...absolutely nothing. Well, except exactly what she said she would do. Maybe it’s the honesty that confuses them.

I like and support Palin, but will not wait much longer. She’s indicated that the end of Sept/Oct is fair to her supporters. I’m willing to give her that time.

I guess you wouldn't have supported this candidate either.

Good evening. I am here tonight to announce my intention to seek the Republican nomination for President of the United States. - Ronald Reagan (November 13, 1979)

Sarah who? Oh, the reality TV star that went fishing with Kate plus 8! She’s just intent on milking her celebrity for all its worth and translating that into dollars. She is the very opposite of a serious candidate.

Of course opinions can and will vary, but the last time I checked, FR is Palin Country.

I seem to recall a candidate for president who didn’t announce until November...

One relatively important hard deadline Palin is facing is October 31, in order to be on the ballot for the Florida primary

“The former Alaska governor on Tuesday denied that she intends to announce a White House bid on September 3”

Maybe October then?

Last time I checked, there were 27 days in September after the 3rd.

My primary isn’t until next year...if she’s running; I vote for her. If she doesn’t, I may vote for someone else. Not complicated.

I may have this wrong, but I think she’s said she would not run a third party candidacy as it would split the conservative vote. I’d not support that kind of a third party run and I generally like her as a candidate.

Has Sarah Palin exhausted the patience of her supporters?

An interesting question, but not the relevant one. Any previous Palin supporter that strays can no doubt be theoretically won back over. Maybe not automatically upon her entering the race, but they are at least up for grabs.

The real question is has she exhausted the patience (or interest) of the independents?

...Lost patience with Palin? No.

If she gets in she gets my vote, support, money and work.

Ideally, she is the conservative I want running against Obama.

However, I’m also a realist and preparing in case she does not run...Perry is the clear winner in that regard.

She has been very straight-forward in telling us she would make her decision in September. We’ll wait.

I thought she was going to tell us this summer?

Nope, I have loads of patience and am extremely confident that Sarah Palin will be the next president of the United States.

unless Perry implodes some how.

There's plenty on this forum working overtime to undermine his campaign.
