I have friends, Kenny and Mary Ellen, that live in Union Beach where their road floods on every high tide. I can't even imagine how bad that is going to be...Good Luck

Thanks! We’re packing up now, hubby took some pix of the house (wouldn’t let me make the bed before he shot the bedroom,so I’m really hoping I never have to produce that picture), my entire focus (aside from here - lol) is to not let my cat abscond before (or after) departure.

The trucks came around saying “get out”, but honestly they were bad, if you didn’t know what they were saying you’d never have understood them.

Good luck to you too!

New media axiom: the actual threat posed by the storm is in inverse proportion to the number of times Weather Channel staff describe it as ‘dangerous.’

Everything's fine here. I'm around 200 miles from the coast so we're only getting the outer edge of Irene. Some gusty winds, but that's about it. Just a few drops of rain.

Hope all is well with you.

Lt Gov of CT, next to the governor, Dannel Malloy. Since the person I was responding to is also from CT, I figured it would be obvious. Sorry ‘bout that.

I’m too young to think of someone with initials DM as Dean Martin.

Right now it is a typical muggy Saturday NJ morning.

Slight breeze. The storm is supposed to hit Early Sunday morning. I don’t expect it to be much worse in my area then a typically Nor’easter.

I'm also in South Jersey.
I don't know what to expect....hoping for the best but prepared for the worst.
I will say the most significant difference between this scenario and our typical Noreasters is that there is way more water associated with this along with the very real threat of tornadoes. Here's to hoping the hype stays hype and won't come to fruition!
Good Luck and stay dry my friend!

We're in NW / north-central Connecticut. Gray and gloomy here as of 12:55pm ET, and raining steadily. Per radar, this rain is from the outer-outer bands of Irene.

We're busy securing lawn furniture, getting laundry done, etc. We're well stocked up with food, batteries and we have full tanks of gas. No generator though (except for this small thing that can keep one lamp going). We'll see how it goes.

Watching game 1 of today's double header at Fenway - Oakland A's @ Boston Red Sox. Game 2 (which should have been Sunday's game) starts at 5pm.

I'm very worried about my sister and brother-in-law on the coast near Providence, Rhode Island. When Irene hits up here unfortunately it will be high tide...

Hey, girlFRiend... how are you doing? It's been awhile!

How's everything in Maryland? Hope all is OK... I pray that Irene weakens...

Good! Didn’t know you were that far inland.

We are, too. Just expecting a little extra rain.

Those Weather Channel divas are getting on my last nerve!

Would love to see Roker take off like a helium balloon!

Did you see any of the gov’s news conferences? Our Lt Gov looks like a scared puppy dog. She doesn’t inspire a lot of confidence standing next to DM.

Ugh, I was thinking the exact same thing, Betis70, when I saw the recent Hurricane Irene news conferences with "Dannel 88" and the sour-faced scared puppy dog Nancy Wyman.

We're stuck with a weird and rotten bunch of 'RATs here in Connecticut, huh? >:-(

And sadly our GOP is pretty weak as well.

Thanks again Bridgeport!

Malloy looks like a greasy used car salesman.

Wyman butt ugly.

I know, it's all so disgusting here, politically. Was the "bag o'votes" found in Bridgeport, or was it New Haven? I forget...

Ugh, why didn't that weakling Foley fight harder? Look at the mess CT is in now... :-(

"Dannel 88" looks and SOUNDS like a greasy used car salesman. I know she's a RINO, but I would take "Grandma Rell" any day over this slimy union thug POS.

Wyman butt ugly.

Hubby and I attended one of Malloy's and Wyman's town halls (this one was in Middletown) a few months ago. She had that same sourpuss, scared puppy dog face on her then. Her expression apparently never changes.
