Right after their big splashes into the fray as candidates, the numerous Republican hopefuls enjoyed somewhat of a bump in their polling data, but ultimately their numbers did settle. And that phenomenon seems to apply to Texas Gov. Rick Perry – at least thus far, who after his announcement earlier this month has seen his stock rise. However, could Perry’s prominence be here to stay?
On this weekend’s broadcast of the syndicated program “Inside Washington,” Washington Post columnist Charles Krauthammer argued that in the case of Perry, he is here to stay and has the right message for electoral success.
“Look, it could be a fluke – a Trump phenomenon, but I think it is deeper than that here,” Krauthammer said. “I think [New York Times columnist David] Brooks is right in his column. He says he has a simple message which is, ‘Smaller government, I made it work. I created jobs,’ which is a powerful force in the country today.”
And unlike Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan who said he would not be a candidate in 2012, Perry has a message that is simple, which makes him formidable in not only the GOP primary, but also the general election.
“It is what powered the Republicans to their astonishing success in 2010,” he continued. “It is sort of Paul Ryan without the numbers and the nuance. And it’s a message that if he keeps it simple, I think that could be a winning message, in the primary and even in the general election.”
He used to come over to our house when I was a teenager, good friend of my dad. My sisters and I always suddenly became very sociable when he did. We would just stare at him, and my mother had the biggest crush.
“Rick Perry as governor, used all resources at his disposal in an attempt to make a cancer vaccine available to Texas children.”
If that were true, no one would object. The objection was that it was mandatory, and the opt-out required parents to file with the state objecting to ALL vaccinations.
My long-time friend who lives just outside Dallas who had been out of work for a year called me up one day a few months ago saying he would be in town for a job interview (So Cal) and wanted to do dinner. When we met I asked him the obvious. "We've all heard that all the jobs are in Texas so why are you looking here?" He said what they don't tell you is they are all minimum wage jobs...just sayin'....

Not a Texan will vote for Perry over Palin in the primary? See, I’m a Texan, and I don’t know a soul who WOULD vote for Palin over Perry.
Well you may own a Texas business as do I, but I actually live in Texas. You page says you are from or living in Penn. Nice state in fact my brother is there working and at this very moment fishing. You are a little hostile there to someone who may not vote your way. I am 58 and don’t think I need Perry’s drug to set me straight. But thanks for trying to help me out. Sarah 2012.

July 27, 2011 - CALIFORNIA: …..“Texas Gov. Rick Perry has become a folk hero for people like Stewart as he's marketed his state as a low-cost and business-friendly alternative to California, which is fertile job-hunting ground for Perry.
Texas has added 929,000 jobs since 2001, while California has lost approximately 635,000 manufacturing jobs in that same time, Stewart said.
Answering questions after his speech, Stewart told the story of Perry sending programmed cellphones to CEOs in California with a simple message: "If you're interested in growing your business, please call me. I'm here to help."
"They're doing something right down there," Stewart said of what he dubs the "Texas miracle." "Gov. Perry will go anywhere, any time, to try to recruit companies into Texas."
Perry has taken the state's regulatory process and managed it himself, Stewart said………
[CA Economic Development Corporation President Mark] Lascelles emphasized that it does no good to belabor California's regulatory environment.
"Unfortunately, we can't avoid it. We have to deal with it," he said. Speaker focuses on job creation

Guess all those states loosing those jobs won’t mind now will they? High dollar to mimimun wage all that money spends.

Oh don't get me wrong the job market in CA is terrible...and he did ultimately find a job in Texas working for Bell Helicopter...but I thought given all the hype that it was odd for him to drive all the way to Ontario CA looking for a job...

Unfortunately, many run as Tea Party conservatives and get co-opted as soon as they get to Washington. Renee Ellmers is a great example. The GOP didn't even offer financial support so conservatives backed her. She has been John Boehner’s lap dog since she got to DC.
I’m glad he found work in Texas.

As to voting, I don’t know who will get my vote yet. I say throw them all out there, severely vet the heck out of them all, let primary voters have their say and then move forward with a candidate who is stronger for all the abuse.
All this derangement on FR is silly. Every potential candidate has flaws. Even Palin.
So I welcome the criticism and hard looks at all of them during this period.

I had no intention of doing otherwise..of course he wanted to stay in Dallas...he couldn't give away his house...and has resorted to renting out rooms....just shows there is desperation in TX too....it's not all Skittles rainbows and free-range Unicorns This guy by the way is no schlum...he is an intelligent middle manager type and a real self starter and go-getter. It's a tough market if a guy like that can't find a job...
