The power company already knows who is without power. You don’t need to call them. Look outside. Do you see that it’s not just you in the dark? That’s because power doesn’t generally go out to individual houses. It goes down on sections of line. It does nobody any good — including you — for them to come reconnect a line to your house if the rest of the line is not energized. Believe it or not, they know what they’re doing and they’ll get you back on as soon as they can. They work out from the substations, getting the most people reconnected as possible at each stage. Again, they know what they’re doing.
