Don’t misquote me. I said only 122 died in Agnes and I also said that nobody wants even ONE death. The only was used because the numbers are ridiculously higher on thousands of other natural disasters, terrorist attacks, wars, but you seem stuck on Agnes just because it was in your neck of the woods it is somehow more important. Calm down.. if you are afraid, evacuate.

Andrew was monster, but people evacuated. I saw the aftermath of Andrew up close and personal, people left, that’s why they didn’t die and also because of the building codes, most homes withstood the winds AND it was in a very small area. Andrew was more like a very large tornado. Instead of doing damage in a wide area, it was intense damage in a small area, so less deaths but in the path of the eye, the devastation looked like a bomb went off.

Mobile homes were mandatory evacuations. People listened, people in Florida know what a Cat5 will do and they don’t hang around. They leave, therefore less deaths. Too bad they didn’t listen during Katrina. Many lives would have been saved.

And now you nitpick that I said 129 instead of 122. OK...

The point is, YOU raised the death toll as a standard for judging storms. Don't whine like a little bitch when your own standard gets thrown right back in your face. Maybe you could grow a bit of character and admit that was a stupid, senseless yardstick for judgeing impact of a storm.

And Andrew GAVE Floridans the chance to evacuate with ample warning of its approach. A TS hitting the NE, well, it is a wildcard. Who knew that a TS in 1972 would cause more damage than the likes of Hazel or Betsy or other major hurricanes?

And that was my entire point - TS flooding in the NE can cause record floods outside areas within known flood boundaries. Just ask the people in Vermont.

You may have the last word, you truly are a jerk who can't admit his own logical errors, even when presented with historical evidence to the contrary.

Stating the correct death toll number is nitpicking? First you said over 100, I gave you the correct total of 122, you chose to then instead of saying over 100, changed it to 129. Stating the facts is not nitpicking dude, sorry you can’t get the facts right. Don’t post false information, just stick to the facts.
