In-N-Out is the best chain burger joint I have seen. Order (not on the menu) the 3x3, or 4x4 with xtra spread. Nothing better. Also ask for your next burger “animal style”. Fries too!

Finally got to take the family to our local I/O in Allen. In a word ... meh. Tasted like Steak n Shake to me. And just as small. And don't even get me started on the fries. Y'all can have it ... I'll stick to other joints like J.C.'s or the like.

Yes, I had read that story. It was a horrible story. I can only imagine what those two went through. Chances are they were used to temps in the 80s at most. :(

My biggest gripe about our weather is the lack of rain. We never get a lot, but I sure do miss it.

Oh, and I also miss mowing my lawn. It’s relaxing for me. So far I’ve had to mow twice since April, and once was to test out a new mower I bought. What a waste of money that was.... lol

I heard a weather guy say last week that this is the hottest year since 1911. Don’t know if he was talking just about Texas.

JNR: Yes Texas has some fabulous weather in fall winter and spring but summer is always hot, too hot!

I agree. I spent almost a month in Texas a few years back...I was absolutely miserable.

I wouldn't move to Texas if ya took me in a complimentary fully stocked Lear Jet, and paid my first years mortgage...

But that's just me. I prefer year round, near perfect weather and the variety of things to do in Southern Cal.

That said, anyone moving there, I wish um the best of luck!

I just wish more people felt the way you feel about IN N OUT burger. The lines are still long, I can’t even stop in for a quick shake without having to wait at least 20 minutes.....meanwhile every JC burger, whattaburger, etc. look like ghost towns....I feel kind of sorry for em....

Exactly! Makes a person want to dance, doesn’t it? We can all be proud of our stiff upper lip. Can you believe we think 95 is a desirable temperature?

We haven’t broken many all-time highs for any particular day, but after a few months of 105-111 temps, it doesn’t matter.

Once it gets over 100, I can’t feel any difference, it’s just hot.

And what I admire about Texans is they could care less how you feel about Texas and could care less if you ever moved here, probably preferred you don’t, and could care less what anyone thinks of them, their state, their weather, their anything.

It took me about a month here after being born and raised in So California to figure that out. They could care less......and it’s something to admire in them. And now that it seems the entire country is moving here, especially doctors due to the malpractice and now “Loser Pays” lawsuit law....and they don’t “mind”....they just say don’t bring your socialist crap and if you do come....”Bring a gun and get a job”......I’ve grown to admire these Texans. I might even become a Cowboy fan someday......

‘hopes I never have to go back to Dallas during the summer’

Wooooboy. One year I went on a business trip to Albuquerque in November. When I left AZ it was short sleeve days with sweater nights. Alb had snow blowing sideways, I about froze to death.

A month later I had to go to San Antonio. It had cooled off in AZ, and after the Alb experience, I packed long-sleeved shirts, sweaters, heavy slacks, etc. They were having a high-80s heat wave and I about melted. Hit Wal-mart for short-sleeved shirts.

Can’t win!

“Can you believe we think 95 is a desirable temperature?”

So true! I spent 3 weeks in Ms. recently and my friends kept complaining about the heat (95) and afternoon thunderstorms. It felt like heaven to me. I actually did do a little rain dance while there...lol! It felt so wonderful to feel and smell the rain again.

I never suggested they should. It's just not for me!

Been there done that.

I am in Houston and we break a day record ever so often but I think it is the number of days at extremely high temperatures that they are counting. Our extreme weather started in June and usually June is pretty nice, warm but bearable. Where are you?

I’ve tried to dissuade European visitors from going to Death Valley at the height of summer before. They just have no idea how remote some of those places are, and just how quickly things can go bad. Oh, and that a dotted line on a map does not necessarily mean that there’s a road there that can be negotiated with a rental sedan.

I live in Dallas and as someone who watches the Weather Forecasts regularly (Gotta plan for Golf!), they have NO IDEA what’s going to happen 7 days from now. They MIGHT know the day before. MAYBE.

I was in Del Rio, TX from 1971 to 1980, and I thought 1980 was the hottest summer I had seen there, in the 9 years I was there. It gets hot every summer. It is caused by the sun. These man made global warming freaks are just that, freaks.

Next week the following may bring some cooler and rainy weather to the Texas area. Who knows at this point.
