I don’t believe the average consumer wants to mess with solar when electricity works just fine.

That is certainly true and its working fine now, but wait for the bright new future. The utilities are pushing for "Smart Grids" which means that they can turn off your air conditioner when the demand on their system gets large. Among the reasons they want (need) to do this is the fact that no new electrical plants are being built and the EPA will shut down a significant number of existing plants in the near future. A lot of wind generation is going in, but it is not likely to be running when you want your air conditioner to provide cooling. All the wind power needs an equivalent natural gas backup generator. Opposition to fracking may make option difficult.

I just got an email from a CA lefty. He will be coming to Dallas Oct 12 for a seminar on solar. He is a roofer who went into the solar panel business. Wonder why there is a seminar?

There are other places where solar is economic.

When you drive through the Navaho Nation in Arizona, you see very isolated homes with solar panels. They are provided by the Navaho Electric Co op because they are less expensive than running wires on poles

I had the privilege of hiking in the far back country of the Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico. The windmills pumping water for the back country camps were replaced with solar panel/battery powered pumps.

Isolation is the key.

Wonder why there is a seminar?

Anticipating more subsidies, perhaps expecting electricity costs to "necessarily skyrocket"?

It has certainly been a kickback scheme since I can remember (1960s).

Money laundering means to me making illegally obtained cash into legal assets.

What Obama, his predecessors, & Congress are doing is completely legal if the participants keep silent about their motivations. But it is obvious what their game is to anyone above moron intelligence.

“I think the things are great for supplemental power on a house or office building — but only if they’re installed without my money. Using them as central powerplants is just daffy.”

But didn’t that world renowned physicist, Darryl Hannah just tell us (as she was taken to jail) that solar panels are our future and that we just have to immediately abandon fossil fuels?
