AND NOW . . . amidst billowing clouds of fragrant, aromatic first- and second-hand premium cigar smoke. . . it is time for . . . that harmless, lovable little fuzz ball, the highly-trained broadcast specialist, having more fun than a human being should be allowed to have, from behind the golden EIB microphone, firmly ensconced in the prestigious Attila-the-Hun chair at the Limbaugh Institute of Advanced Conservative Studies, serving humanity simply by showing up, and he’s not retiring until every American agrees with him, do NOT doubt him, with shrieks of joy at the mere mention of his name (that’s Rush, for those in Rio Linda),the Mandarin of Talk Radio, with talent on loan from G-d, at the cutting-edge of societal evolution, with half his brain tied behind his back — just to make it fair, the all-knowing, all-caring, all-sensing, all-feeling, all-concerned Maha-Rushie! America’s anchorman, truth detector, and doctor of democracy. A Real Man, a living legend, a way of life. Commander in Chief of U.S. Operation Chaos. Chief Waga-Waga El Rushbo of the El Conservo Tribe. Chief of the Patriotism Police. Leader of the Conservative Movement. A Weapon of Mass Instruction. El Rushbo (a little Spanish lingo, there). He is the man who is running America (you know it and I know it). He knows the Democrats like every square inch of his glorious naked body. He is ready to do what he was born to do—that’s host. Get ready to what you were born to do—that’s listen (and post your comments on the Rush Limbaugh LIVE Radio Thread).

Wow, is this what they are talking about when they put down the Tea Party? Rush proves he doesn’t understand labor statistics and I point it out and you go all liberal on me.

Recomendation is for Conservatives to actually understand what we are talking about first, and then find constructive solutions second. In this case, my recommendation is to put much more emphasis on the ‘employment’ statistic rather than the ‘unemployment.’ I find the ‘employment-population ratio’ to be a pretty interesting stat.

Her 8% beats all the declared candidates except the two front runners!

Polls are not immovable objects. Palin, along with her supporters, can move those polls significantly when the time is right.

The dynamic where the official Bureau of Labor Statistics measured labor force shrinks during bad times is well-known, nothing new, etc. The article I sent was just a sample to show you how common it is.

This is a pretty good summary that Rush ought to read.

Rush;

No, no, no !

Please don't offer help to Ubama by suggesting specific viable jobs plan ! Recall the rule, 'When political opponents want to injure themselves, get the heck out of the way and let them do it to themselves !'

Just keep it general and repeat that its private industry that creates jobs and government (Mommyment) has to get out of the way of private industry by not imposing impediments to creating jobs (deregulation).

What time is her speech? Is C-Span broadcasting? Please put me on your Palin ping list. I also read that she was going to participate in the Tea Party debate on the 12th?

I have always thought if she ever decided not to run, it would be for one reason only-—her family (not Todd), but her kids.

There is an enormous media/GOP tsunami trying to push her around and create confusion, particularly now to declare or bow out before she is ready to make a statement on candidacy.

I cannot abide the f**king idiots that claim that Exxon didn’t pay taxes last year. That is flat out false. A five second Google search led me to their 10K (Annual Report). that shows that Exxon paid $21.561 BILLION in income taxes and $89.2 BILLION in total taxes (income, sales, and other taxes). That jackass was flat out lying.

I have to disagree with Rush on one point. The middle class most certainly pay taxes. Unless I’m considered one of the “rich”, which would be laughable.

And any new taxes are passed on to the consumer...I wish Rush would also say that.

Right. I think he’s defining middle class lower than it is. But his point that 47% of the people don’t pay any federal income taxes is true. Now, where do we draw the middle? I am part of the 53% who pays, I aboslutely know this, and I don’t think I’m upper class or rich, that’s for sure.

But probably that caller would call me rich. He’d be wrong, but that’s what democrats think.

Rush mis-stated the definition of the workforce on his show today. It is all public record with what he does, the burden of being 99.6% right. Today he was wrong. So what, I still love the guy.

FR used to blow away little squeeky ideologues who gave conservatism a bad name. We put up with way too much small mindedness these days.

True.

Corporations collect taxes from their customers, which they pass along to the government, which then bashes them for being greedy.

IMO, people in this country are poor by choice. We have every opportunity to make of our lives what we want. I know I could have been a lot richer if I had the ambition to do so. The fact that I’m not is no one’s fault but my own. (except for what the government has stolen from me):p

Had a conversation similar to that with a screwball last week. I was slack-jawed astounded at how ignorant this guy was, didn't understand the difference between income and accumulated wealth, along with a whole host of other tax related facts. It was mind boggling. And this is someone that has no qualms about expressing his “opinion” on all these matters. I told him that he needs to spend some time doing some research about the US tax code before he opens his mouth.

As I drove away, it dawned on me that the real travesty is that this guy probably votes in every election!

They have to show up and keep ‘looking’ to get the unemployment insurance.

Not true anymore.......You show up once to file a claim and use their computers if you wish to do a job search or post your resume on line. Of course you can do that at home too.........All checks during that 26 week period are mailed to your home.

Following the initial 26 weeks of U.I., you apply for the TRA continuation which then requires you to fill out a bi-monthly form listing all employers you applied with....and that includes employers you may have only sent a resume to, during the period you receive the TRA extension benefits. All job searchs can be done at home on the internet, and were in my case.

During my first year of unemployment, I only reported to the U.I. office twice. The first time to file a claim then the second time to file for the TRA extention and to be given the forms that were required to be filled out twice a month........

Following the year of unemployment, I was then given the opportunity to be provided job re-training or college education. Based on the test they gave me, which I scored quite high on, they were willing to waive the job re-training and provide me with college classes.

The only problem I had with that was that you were required to attend college full time, meaning a minimum of 12 college credits. I already have two years of college, 35 years of human resource experience and the additional two years paid by the state would have provided me with a bachelors degree.

Well, the reality of it all is that at the age of 57 (at that time) with the experience I have in the automotive industry which afforded me nothing while I was searching for employment, the continuing education that would have given me a college degree at the age of 60 would have been a complete waste of my time.

Any company in S.E. Michigan still in operation has literally a plethora of over qualified applicants to choose from who will now work for whatever they can get.......And an old guy with merely a bachelors degree isn't even going to get a call.

Thanks for the update on the mechanics of that. I think your clarification confirms the point of the discussion which is that when people are no longer on unemployemnt or officially looking they are no longer counted as part of the labor force. A longstanding practice and not an Obama manipulation per se as Rush seemed to be saying.
