Voter Discontent Deepens Ahead of Obama Jobs Plan (Brak at 44% among Adults in WSJ/NBC poll)
The Wall Street Journal | 09/06/11 | Jonathan Weisman

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio—President Barack Obama this week will try to launch a political comeback amid the lowest approval ratings of his presidency and a growing sense of economic foreboding here and across the country among voters who are increasingly questioning their president's skills and priorities.

A new Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll of 1,000 adults, taken Aug. 27-31, found that 44% of Americans approve of the job Mr. Obama is doing as president, with more than half, or 51%, disapproving for the first time since his inauguration. Some 73% say the country is headed in the wrong direction, a level of pessimism not seen since late 2008, as the financial crisis struck.

More than 70% of people surveyed said the economy hasn't yet hit bottom. Most Americans still say the president inherited the nation's economic maladies from President George W. Bush rather than caused them, although that number is slipping.

Voters appear to be looking for a new direction. By 44% to 40%, Americans now say they are more likely to vote Republican next year than for Mr. Obama's re-election. In June, the president held the edge, 45% to 40%. The president is losing support from key groups including political independents, women and Hispanics.

He will probably win Kalipornia even if he announces it was going to be used as collateral for the national debt with China.

I just looked at the Rasmussen daily tracking history.

Bammers was at his historic low of 19% strong approve for 5 straight days. He’d never stayed at that level before last week, but had bounced there for one day a couple of times previously.

W.T.F?!?!?!”

That means it’s the republican’s fault it’s going in the wrong direction.

wth is it that 44% find to approve of???

The majority of that 44 % like their government handouts too much to risk voting else wise ..

Most Blacks, for example, either work for the government or receive welfare, SSI disability, food stamps, etc. They and single women with children predominantly view government as their daddy, and don't want to risk losing any payments , regardless of shrinking job opportunities. Maybe 10-15 of the 44 % or so are primarily cultural liberals/libertines who have other than economic reasons to support the current inept regime.

I think you're absolutely correct. Assuming that the 51% who disapprove of his performance also think we're on the wrong track, that still leaves 22% who think we're on the wrong track but don't disapprove of his performance?

Not only does this poll sample people that don’t vote, it over-samples democrats. The rat internal polling must be horrific.

Always fear the GOP’s ability to screw up a golden opportunity.

Question QF1 b/c in the poll asks if they voted for Obama or Bush in "last November's" election.

QF1b/c A lot of people are unable to get out and vote for many reasons. Did you happen to vote in last November's election for president? (IF “YES,” ASK:) For whom did you vote––Barack Obama, John McCain, or someone else?

It also shows that of the ADULTS surveyed that only 84% were even registered voters.

He could eat his children on the Front Lawn of the White House and he'd still have 30%?

He'd jump to 46% because of his contribution to population control.

Do you think people like your niece feel important babbling about the word “infrastructure”?

I mean, does she think most women aspire to be a flag-woman at a construction site? Or would she rather run a bulldozer?
Of all the 3 guys standing around watching the rest toil, I never see a woman.

Maybe she would like to discuss “infrastructure” further at the next family gathering.

She is my cousin. I don’t think she thinks about it. She jsut listens to his speeches.

One family member did ask her to explain all the infrastructure that was fixed with the last trillion dollars.

She couldn’t name one thing.

You know, I wish I could figure out why anyone would vote for Obama. But I can’t.

I figure she is one of those “feel good” whites that feel good because they voted for a black man.

>>If the GOP nominates a liberal, who cares who wins?<<

That’s the way I look at it also. The time has passed that we can rely on small steps hoping to work toward smaller government. We should have learned the lesson that half measures don’t work and especially so at this point in our history. We need to drastically reverse the course this government has taken. This time it has to be all or nothing. Slowly going down the wrong path rather then plunging head long is no longer an option.

If we don’t have a drastic change this time it’s going to lead to a drastic change that won’t be pretty. If the voters choose the drastic change later option so be it but I’m working for the drastic change now through elections.

The scary number is 44% approve. That’s a substainial base, of commie, socialists & lazy slobs who will keep these thugs in power. Our work is cut out for us.
