Groups Plan To ‘Occupy Wall Street,’ But Their Goal Is Not Yet Set

September 6, 2011 11:19 AM

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – A coalition of groups who say they’ve been inspired by the Arab Spring protests against despots abroad is calling for a large, Tahrir Square-like protest right here in New York City. But what their demand will be is not yet clear.

An online group dubbed “Occupy Wall Street” is calling for 20,000 people to “flood into lower Manhattan, set up tents, kitchens, peaceful barricades and occupy Wall Street for a few months,” according to the website occupywallst.org.

“Something is going to happen Sept. 17 on Wall Street. What it’s going to be is up to all of us,” said Bill Csapo, who described himself as a volunteer citizen organizer of the event.

Csapo said he is not an official spokesman for the conglomeration of groups.

“Not any more than any of us are,” he said, laughing.

Csapo said he’s focused on making sure there will be enough food, tents and Port-A-Potties at the gathering, if it comes together as organizers hope.

“Once there, we shall incessantly repeat our one simple demand until Barack Obama capitulates,” according to the site.

This better not happen. Yesterday my husband just brought our daughter (sophomore) back to college in lower Manhattan - She attends Pace (downtown campus), where she studies theater.

She loves lower Manhattan, Pace, and the Financial District locality in general. If this kind of hippie show disrupts her life, I will not be pleased!!

We actually live about two hours upstate from there, in a rural area of the Hudson River valley.

Anyway thanks for the info - I will now know to keep up with developments.

It sounds like something that happened on a farm in upstate New York, near a town called Woodstock.

They wish! The "New and improved" long haired, maggot infested leftists of today aren't anywhere near a tough. If it rains, they'll all be hiding out in the dumpsters (and picking out a few morsels for lunch - they're free!).

Sounds like the episode of South Park when the hippies moved in for a Woodstock event.

Damn hippies.

Years ago a bunch of us in training at Fort Dix got the weekend off so we went up to New York ~ I think it was 17 GIs in a hotel room in the New Yorker.

About 5 AM Sunday we all trooped down to Wall Street to see what it was like ~ and it was EMPTY!!!!!!

Saturday is probably pretty much the same.

If these pukes follow through on what they have planned ~ emulating the Arab Spring ~ they'll probably end up finding some Arabs and murdering them or something bad like that.

The group claims they are:

“are an independent group of organizers committed to doing technical support work for resistance movements”.

“Independent”??? Yea right!!!

The one thing their own language shows is that they are not “independent” of Marxists.

They obviously don’t work for a living!
They’re nothing but a bunch of welfare recipients from Hillary’s Village looking for a free place to sleep

Outside the unions, isn’t that the democrat oops socialist base - freeloading socialists?

Maybe they want Wall Street to return the billions of taxpayer dollars they ripped us off for during the bailout? Or maybe they got their geography mixed up and should really be looking up that house on Pa. Ave in DC asking what became of all those jobs that the taxpayer’s stimulus money and TARP were supposed to create? one can hope, can’t one?

As a musical festival, Woodstock was literally a disaster. As John Ratzenberger, who helped to setup the stage, pointed out,"...And when everything fell apart, and people were fighting for peanut-butter sandwiches, it was the National Guard who came in and saved the same people who were protesting them. So when Hillary Clinton a few years ago wanted to build a Woodstock memorial, I said it should be a statue of a National Guardsman feeding a crying hippie."
More on that here
