CHELSEA Charles Dicino, 82, grabbed a bolt-action rifle and shot two people early this morning who he claims were trying to break into his home in Revere, according to the man's attorney.
Police arrested Dicino, a Korean War veteran, following the early-morning incident and charged him with two counts of armed assault with intent to murder, two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and a single count of discharging a firearm, according to police.
But his attorney, John Haggerty, said Dicino did nothing wrong and was simply defending himself after the two people, a woman and a man, threw a brick through Dicino's window after first trying unsuccessfully to break into his home.
This is the victim here an 82-year-old man with no criminal record. He defended life and property, Haggerty said during Dicino's arraignment in Chelsea District Court.

Bud, stay real quiet and wait until they are through the window are door, then shoot and then call the cops.
Sorry Charlie. In Mass you're not the victim if you have a gun. That state is a mess on gun rights. I wouldn't even have one in the car if I was traveling through to hunt in Maine. Mass sucks. That's why Mittens ran the place. He was a perfect fit.
Good shooting, Citizen. Civilization thanks you.
Old gent not doing too bad to get both of them with one shot!
If he really wanted to protect himself in Massachusetts he should of shot the politicians.
I wonder if empty O thinks the police “acted stupidly” for arresting an 82 year old veteran who acted in self defense.
This looks like yet another case of 'don't mess with a senior'. I.e. guys like this are too weak to defend themselves with non-lethal force, but still know how to aim a rifle and hit their intended target. They should give him a medal and let him be.
God bless him.
“...you’re not the victim if you have a gun...”
Well, that is the point of having a gun after all.
We need to get some Freepers on that jury . . .
That should be the next question at the debate tonight. "Mr. Romney, what do you think the Commonwealth of Mass. should do to Mr. Dicino?"
Romney is not a true believer in the rights of the people.
It’s why the criminals flock to Mass., Conn., NY, and the other nanny states. Not only can you rob, beat and kill them, but if they fight back you can have them charged and can sue them. Little wusses generally try it here in Texas ... but once!
sez you. Romney never required all sixth graders to get Guardasil shots!
This is COMPLETELY a real life “Gran Torino” situation.
Chelsea is just that, once a decent place but completely overtaken with poor third worlders, crime and thugs. You wouldn’t walk around that place at night.
Everybody in Massholechusetts should keep a couple of cheap throwdowns handy for exactly this reason.
Here is a fuller version of the story:
Or shot them outside and drag them inside.
(1) Did I ever say anything about Gov. Perry?
(2) You are right. Instead he just required every person in the entire state of Massachusetts to buy health insurance. And he ensured that the voters couldn't have their say on same sex marriage. Face it, Romney is a Massachusetts liberal. He may be a Republican, but he's still a liberal.
