What do you gain by conveniently forgetting that there was an opt-out provision which would really not made it a mandate at all.

This issue has been beaten to death. Watch CNBC this am and see that first time applications for unemployment benefits rose again the past week, inflation pushed higher and a key manufacturing index weakened.

People are hurting and FR continues to beat the Gardisil issue to death. Gardisil is not going to be an issue in this election. We need jobs and we need someone to defeat Obama. We need to produce more energy.

Sorry.

It is good Gov. Palin and Ms. Bachmann spoke up, even
if the latter’s ‘facts’ might have been misspoken, or
deliberately given to her just before the debate.

The more important question is has Sarah said she is going to run? The Harold Camping wing of the Palin fan club predicted she would announce Sept. 16 or 17—that’s tomorrow or Sat.

There’s no such thing as 100% security. You give the best that modern medicine and science currently has to offer.

Encourages promiscuity? Bristol Palin didn’t get pregnant because of a vaccine mandate.

The word “mandate” was there so the state would pay for it if parents needed help paying for it. There was also “opt out” for those who didn’t want it. I am sure you have been told this before, you just choose to ignore it.

Sad. So because of a sad story we should give up our freedoms. No thanks. Freedom is not pretty. Big Government is a travesty. Perry at least admires big government. Free bennies for illegal aliens and mandatory vaccines. Not freedom friendly to me.

Frankly I don’t think she will run. To many issues in her closet she needs to explain. VP’s are really window dressing.

Pres is a whole other thing. Sarah, like Michelle do NOT have the executive experience to handle the job.

Look at the mess Zero has created. Even Bush exec experience wasn’t enough. He still made mistakes that he should have known better. Governors training ground lets them make mistakes and correct them that don’t throw the whole country into a tailspin.

No YOU get a grip Marty. I said NOTHING about Perry. My info is about Gardasil. It is NOT a cancer prevention drug.

That's OK Dio, I've known you for a long time and know that you couldn't mean what it looked like.

I've lost too many friends to cancer. I didn't like what Perry did with the mandate, but there is no way I would attribute that to money under the table and if you look at the video you would know why. It's heart breaking. We all want cures to cancer, and we all want there to be something that would keep these young women from withering away in pain, watching a young life ended too soon if there was something, anything we could do.

A lot of young women who took the vaccine are now terrified they will end up retarded and a lot of young women who might have decided to take the vaccine will not out of fear of the over the line hysteria at that debate the other night. I KNOW that Sarah will not want to be a part of that, and it's horrible that someone didn't give her the facts before she went on Greta.

I haven't chosen a candidate. I never do this early in the game. I'm tired of being attacked by all sides when I'm just trying to figure out who to vote for. SIGH.

I see several people on this thread are trying to do the impossible and actually reason with Diogenesis.

This person’s posts on the Perry threads are beginning to read like the unibomber manifesto - except his grammar and capitalization is far worse than Kazinski’s.

How can you reason with THAT?

I am not a Perry hater... but I'm also not his biggest fan. I reserve judgement over the field of candidates... and look forward to later entries. That being said, my concern over the Gardisil issue has little to do with the drug itself and more to do with the attitude of the executive who governs "for our own good."

"I cannot undertake to lay my finger on that article of the Constitution which granted a right to Congress of expending, on objects of benevolence, the money of their constituents."

-- James Madison

"Of all tyrannies a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron’s cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience. They may be more likely to go to Heaven yet at the same time likelier to make a Hell of earth. This very kindness stings with intolerable insult. To be “cured” against one’s will and cured of states which we may not regard as disease is to be put on a level of those who have not yet reached the age of reason or those who never will; to be classed with infants, imbeciles, and domestic animals."

-- C. S. Lewis, The Humanitarian Theory of Punishment, 1930

“We must confine ourselves to the powers described in the Constitution, and the moment we pass it, we take an arbitrary stride towards a despotic Government.”

— James Jackson, First Congress, 1st Annals of Congress, 489

You should be proud that this little campaign against Perry put many womens lives in danger.

No, the debasing of the culture to the point that young girls have been inundated from every direction that it is cool to hop in and out of the sack with every walking penis that comes along has led to the situation that HPV is so prevalent. Gardasil's advertising campaign that implies the vaccine is a protection against Cervical Cancer -- It is NOT; it is a vaccine against SOME of the forms of HPV that cause about 70% of the cases of cervical cancer -- is a dishonest campaign that might help some women and might also encourage further risky behavior and a lack of proper health screening regimens for other women who THINK they are protected by the vaccine.

A decision of whether or not to take this vaccination, and whether or not to engage in the behaviors that increase one's risk of contracting HPV, should be made by an individual woman (or girl) based on her consultation with a trusted physician (and parents); the decision should NOT be mandated by government.

Palin supports Gardasil vaccinations and made them free to every girl in Alaska when she was the gov.

That's why what she did to Perry was such a cheap shot.

So in his zeal to save lives he made a mistake in PROCEEDURE. That’s what Legis. are suppose to do. If the Leg made it “mandatory”. Would you STILL be blaming Perry.

No. The issue can't be reversed that way. Since he was overruled by the legislature for his dictatorial tactic, the proper reversal would have him vetoing the legislation. As it is, he took it upon himself as Chief Executive of the state to issue a decree from on high for all citizens to follow at his command. That speaks volumes on his character and fitness for leadership.

We’re not going to abolish the CDC. We’re not going to allow in Chinese toothpaste with anti-freeze and hope the free market will figure out how to deal with it. When it comes to health and safety, we do need the government to step in sometimes. When it comes to other matters, the government should step aside and leave everyone alone.
