Organizations who rate politicians on their stance on immigration rank Slick Rick Perry closer to 0bama than to Michele Bachman. 0bama gets an F and Perry a D. Bachman gets a B. Immigration trumps all other issues because the millions of Third World immigrants are overwhelmingly socialist Demonrat voters. Do you want to win a hollow victory and lose the war for America?

Perry is a slick, cunning career politician. He is a crony capitalist. He hasn't had a real job in 27 years. He is what he was when he supported Al Gore and Rudy Giuliani: a moderate Democrat. He has spent his career climbing the ladder in politics, and now he is talking "conservative" to win the GOP nomination. But he is a fake. Do not be fooled, FReepers.

No victory that defeats Obama will be a hollow victory. THAT is the issue that trumps all other issues in this election. As I said, there are other candidates views I like better BUT I don’t see them withstanding the coming storm from the Rats.

I just looked at your Perry-obsessive posting history and realized that you're the same loon who told us you're going to single handedly bring down Perry:

.....your boy is going down from the moment i saw that...I will not rest till he does....

Delusions of grandeur much? I thought your screen name looked familiar.

I realize it's part of your jihad not to rest, but you really should get some. It's encouraged for people in your condition.

In 2000, I assumed GWB was underplaying his debate ablities so he could deliver a knock out to algore in the final debate. That never came to fruition. Any chance Perry, knowing he’s got a good shot, is playing this game?

Bush did one little thing that helped him wipe out any gains Gore had made on him in a debate. It happened when Gore walked up behind him and got way too much into his personal space. Bush turned around, eyeballed him up and down, and kept on. The audience laughed, and it was over for Gore for the night.

Perry will have a hard time, as it has been mentioned here, to come out swinging when almost every questions puts him on the defensive, or he's replying to constant attacks. That's obviously part of the game, but he won't shine too much in that situation.

The best thing he can do is keep his cool in that situation. People will compare him being cool-headed to Bachmann yelling insinuations that he's causing kids to be retarded.

[Which brings us to Mitt Romney, whose basic political problem is that he comes from the Northeastern wing of the party…]

No, it comes from the fact that his is a flip-flopper who can’t be trusted and a big government statist.

ABR=======>Anybody But Romney

George H. W. Bush was the likely general-election winner for 1992...in 1991.

Remind me. How’d that end up working out?

Perot ran 3rd party, pulling nearly 20% of the vote.

I actually think they intended for the pic to be unflattering but it doesn't look so bad. He looks masculine not metrosexual. He looks like someone who spends a lot of time in the sun doing things real men do. He doesn't look like he has regular facials and uses botox like Mitt Romney does. God forbid he may have some callouses on his hands too unlike Mitt's who's are no doubt nicely manicured.

[1. He didn’t do to well in his first two debates. Will he/can he improve?]

No doubt he will improve.

[2. There’s no doubt that his views on SS, while accurate, will be used against him by the Rats. They’re going to pound him relentlessly with this. If he loses the senior vote over this, he’s in trouble.]

The Democrats have admitted that Social Security needs to be reformed. This is no longer a big secret. The debate will be on how to fix it, not whether it needs to be fixed or not.

[3. I have concerns that many independents view him as extreme (not only on the SS issue but also on his religious views) and the Dems are going to take advantage of this, should Perry be our nominee.]

If the Democrats bring religion in as an election issue, Perry throws Reverend Wright up on screeen. Who would you rather have running the country Mr. “God Damn America” or a traditional Christian? Then he can teach Americans about black liberation theology. Obama’s actions over the last 3 years will be so much more clear after that lesson.

My mother who is a Republican, but definitely moderate if not slightly left-wing, likes Perry.

[0bama gets an F and Perry a D. Bachman gets a B.]

As futher reference for other posters, Palin also gets a D.

Bachmann is about the only candidate running besides Paul who has absolutely zero chance at beating Obama. She is not likeable.

Simply brilliant! That is precisely the way it will work.

Nobody outside of Texas knows anything about him. He’s got a tall order to get at least the same level of name recognition as Obama. Many voters in the general election vote only on that. I had never really heard of Rick Perry until relatively recently and follow politics somewhat. Those who don’t follow at all aren’t paying attention right now.
