The vast amount of money freed up by dismantling the public school system would be startup money for plenty of good private schools, allow working mothers to stay home and home school, and so on.

*****************************

Excellent point. The average salary of a public school teacher in Boston is $80,000. IIRC, when they retire, they continue to receive 80% of their salaries and health care for the rest of their lives. They pay in to the salary fund 65% while employed, and the taxpayer is responsible for the balance.

$80 grand, wow!!

And think of the lower property taxes!!!

Of course, all those school administration and teachers would have to find other work (sniffle...SOB...) but with lower taxes, businesses would boom!

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

In my county nearly 70% of our property taxes go to support the godless and socialist-funded government schools. In other words, government schools have turned our nation into a nation of **renters** with the government as the landlord.

No one owns their home or business in the U.S. The godless government schools do! We are merely serfs paying property tax **RENT***!!!

Then add to the property taxes that all citizens pay ( renters, too, through their rents) the sales, and income taxes, licensing fees, user fees, and many other hidden taxes. Dig a little bit and then see how much money goes to government schooling and their employees ( current and retired).

We are a nation of serfs! The government school is our overseer.

Personally, lets call it what it is: ABUSE. It is a human rights abuse. It is family abuse. It is child abuse when a mother is ripped out of their home, away from her children, and into the workplace, just to earn the money to pay **rent** to the government schools.

It is also worker abuse when companies move overseas, leaving millions unemployed, just so the owners of the businesses can escape paying **rent** to the government schools in the form of property and equipment taxes.

It is worker abuse when they lose their jobs because the product they make can no longer be sold abroad. The cost of the product plus the **rent** to the government schools ( in the form of property taxes) make the produce unsellable in foreign countries.

Godless and socialist government schools are evil. And the people who run these godless schools are either clueless Useful Idiots or they are EVIL!

Do we want to balance or state, federal, and county budgets? EASY! Give everyone a tax credit or voucher tomorrow, and start charging the **full** cost to parents of the cost of the government school. And get rid of regulations! There is no reason why a teacher shouldn't be able to open a one room school in her home. The regulation should be no more onerous than those used for day care providers.

Once a private infrastructure is build start reducing the amount of the vouchers until parent pay the full cost of educating their **own** children with charity paying for the poorest. What is needed is complete separation of school and state.

( Yeah! I am shouting. I am exasperated at how few conservatives understand this very basic principle.)

Absolutely. Equally as important, the socialists wouldn’t have a death grip on the minds of the children of this country. Imho, their influence has been profound.

Do you need more examples of godless and socialist-funded government school abuse?

Please read post #243.

I agree with everything you say, wintertime.

SEPARATION OF SCHOOL AND STATE!

For every reason you just stated, and more.

I also think that if very small local communities or groups want to start schools, fine - they wouldn’t be exactly “public” as understood now, but local community schools and they could organize them how they wish.

Every bit of federal oversight or control must be eliminated in toto. States could make what laws they want but with more accountability locally, and LESS FEDGOV MONEY TO SPEND (hey - let’s bring it down to ZERO), state gov’s would be much more accountable to the state citizens.

Government on every level must be ended.

The voting mob should **never** have power over the heart and mind of another citizen's child. This is true even if the school district were the size of a city block or a suburban housing division.

In fact, Ayers and his ilk have been extremely active in public school cirriculum, the Annenberg Foundation was started IIRC specifically to turn the schools left. Ayers realized in the late 70s or so that they could not have a Soviet style armed revolution, so they decided to follow the gradual way, by indoctrinating millions of children in schools. That was on top of the already socialist style public school system and cirriculum.

The idea that kids need 7 or 8 hours a day of incarceration in order to learn the basics is beyond stupid and anyone who teaches kids or even has kids knows this is a damnable lie. I taught kids a lot (and I’m a high school dropout) and it’s amazing how little acutal instruction time you need. You need determination, interest, love for the kids. That’s it. What the teacher doesn’t know, he or she can learn. Books are all over the place - NON-official textbooks. I used to make up my own learn to read books because the regular ones were so horrible.

I realized in the mid 80s when teaching math (which I profoundly hate) that the text books were - seriously - purposely making it hard to learn, to dumb kids down. Absolute fact.

And get this - just recently there was an article on FR - wish I could find it, meant to ping it - about ADD or ADHD or whatever it’s called. It is CURED by having kids spend more time OUTDOORS in unstructured activity!!!!!!

MY GOD! ADD ADHD is caused by being stuck inside watching TV and/or incarcerated in school! Who’d a thunk it! (Junk food diet doesn’t help, I’m sure.)

The kind of community schools I think of would be voluntary attendance, not mandatory. No voting. I’m thinking state or county involvement could be something like “no felons/child molesters can be teachers” or something like that.

That sound okay?

Good job hell! From the way I understood it, he suspended the kid. It was onbly at the involvement of the kid's mother on that the suspnsion was rescinded.

On second thought, you could have been for suspending the kid. In that case the principle did do a good job, he is keeping the queer agenda running smothly.

How about the exact same laws that apply to day care providers and centers would apply to private teachers and their schools.

If laws like those now used for day care were common, I see small mini-schools being opened up in neighborhoods and run by trusted teachers. This would be especially adaptable to grades 1 to 8. Maybe some private teachers would choose to teach more sophisticated laboratory courses needed for grades 9 to 12, in places with more space, perhaps rented space in a church.

Now that I think about it, I don't ever recall seeing a Freeper posted article about day care center abuse, but we surely see daily articles about government school teachers being arrested.

Two things:

1) I have never met a homeschooler with ADD or ADHD who has been homeschooled from the beginning.

2) I have never met an obese homeschooler ( or even overweight one) who has been homeschooled from the beginning.

3) And...None of my patients’ parents have ever reported reading dyslexia in any homeschooler who has been homeschooled from the beginning.

I have seen these two pathologies in homeschoolers who have spent some years in government school and then later are pulled out of the school. ( usually due to learning or behavior problems, or conflict with the staff or curriculum) . In my 30 year career, I have likely known well several thousand families.

Yes, I know these are anecdotal observations but I do think it would be worthwhile for this to be examined in a more scientific manner.

In fact, Ayers and his ilk have been extremely active in public school curriculum,
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Ayers, his wife, and others of his ilk, were promoted and mentored by communists who were the ages of my father ( born 1913) and grandmother ( born 1894). There were Marxist sympathizers already well entrenched in the colleges of education decades before Ayers was even born. Communist moles **knew** very well about their communist and criminal past of Ayers and his minions and actively opened opportunities for these domestic terrorists.

Government schooling was a progressive idea from the early 1800s. Teacher training and curriculum development has always been under the control of progressives and Marxists. The goal was **always** been “progressive” more and more toward secularization and godlessness.

Even in the early sixties when I attended Catholic and then later government high school, there were always teachers who were “edgy” and pushing the envelope. And...There was a reason that FDR and his socialist programs were presented as “saving the nation”. There was a reason that colorful and beautiful photos of the U.N were frequently found around these schools and that every year students competed to be part of the mock-U.N. event.

Socialist, One World, Indoctrination! ALL of it! ....even in the early 60s.

So thank you for admitting that YOU personally abused your children by letting them go to public school when it was CONVIENT for YOU.
You chose to make use of the school system for your own selfish wants. and now you want others to do as you say not as you do.

If it were up to me, the public school system would be dismantled.

Great I agree with you 100%, we will close all of the Public schools next Friday, Will you be ready with your charter school Monday morning?

How about you take the offer I have made to wintertime, and that she has refused time after time.

I will give you a list of about 15-20 students at my school and you take them for 1 year and prove to me how good your theories are.

Great Idea instead of sitting here moaning about the system, you all need to run for public office and do that. I will vote for every one of you, seriously.

Sounds good. Background criminal check, and maybe the usual already in place regulations about making sure the place isn’t a fire trap, etc. For a school that has more than X number of kids, obviously not applying to home schools.

I’d run for office if I could. Unfortunately due to severe asthma I can’t. So I do what little I can do.
