Chris Christie Reconsidering 2012 Run, Will Decide in Days
Newsmax via Drudge ^

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is reconsidering his decision not to enter the 2012 presidential race — and he says he will let top Republican donors know within days about his plans, Newsmax has learned. During the past few weeks, several leading Republican donors and fundraisers have been urging the popular Republican governor to reconsider his decision not to run and to enter the GOP primary. These Christie supporters note that significant GOP support has remained on the sidelines of the primary fight. Many leading fundraisers have yet to commit to any current primary contender, including frontrunners Rick Perry and Mitt Romney. Newsmax has learned that the effort to draft Christie culminated in a hush-hush powwow held in the past week with Christie and several notable Republican billionaires.

Forgive me, but I heard that Bill Kristol was seen at his desk with his pants to the ankles shortly after seeing this headline

I’ve never heard ANYBODY call Sarah Palin a RINO. She may be many things, but RINO isn’t one of them.

I would not call Sarah Palin a RINO and I like her very much. I, like others, have some legitimate concern about her viability in a national election but I would love for her to get in the race because nobody sticks a fork in Obama like she does. If anyone could pull it off she could but she needs to pee or get off the pot as my Grandmother would say!

However, let’s be truthful here..... I have seen plenty of folks slam Santorum on here for supporting RINO exhibit #1 - Arlen Specter. Why does everyone give Palin a pass for supporting RINO exhibit #2 - John McCain? Really.... by my handy dandy FR RINO calculator supporting McCain definitely pegs one as a RINO. She campaigned for that RINO in 2010!!!!!!! Begged people in Arizona to send his sorry ass back!

The word RINO is losing strength around here. It’s thrown about carelessly. Some label Perry a RINO for the in-state tuition for children of illegals in Texas but I am willing to bet that Reagan would have done the same thing. Hell, the conservative Texas legislature passed it with nary a negative vote. Lest we forget fellow RINO hunters, Ronaldus Magnus, the best President of my lifetime, signed amnesty after getting duped again by congress. What a RINO he must have been!

So I suppose.... using the new and improved FR definition of RINO we can call Palin a RINO. Supporting a top RINO like McCain is definitely RINOish (is that a word?) enough! I have seen several very conservative folks called RINO’s recently.

What does the word mean anymore? I know what it means for me, you know what it means for you, the reader has no clue what it means to either of us. Truth be told, the posters on this forum are far more conservative than the GOP as whole so perhaps they are the real Republicans and we simply won’t admit it. Perhaps we should be called CWTTATRR (Conservatives who think they are the real Republicans). What a delusional group we are!

Thank you for your thoughtful, non-emotion-driven post, a rarity in these discussions.

The goal for me is “Vote conservative in the primary, vote Republican in the general.”

Reagan indeed would be called a RINO for his being a Democrat (ala Perry), for being a union leader, and for his signing an abortion bill (a little more ‘RINO’-ish than a vaccination bill).

Yet he’s one of our greatest, most-conservative presidents.

It’s not that Mitt or anyone else isn’t or is a RINO, that’s not the point. The point is we have to spend our time bashing Obama and questioning ALL of our candidates, rationally, logically, without the heat we should be saving up for Obama instead of doing the left’s work for them now.

BUT, I say the more the merrier. His sassiness might be fun to watch.

I want to see him get in a shouting match with Perry to the point that Perry threatens violence from the podium and has to leave the race.

Then he can match wits with Newt.

After they've canceled one another out then it'll be too late for Jeb Bush to consider running, leaving the field clear for Palin.

Cheers!

I’m not saying money is not part of any campaign. I’m saying WeThePeople have to take our control over the money bags - the money bags who made it this way/costly to control the sheep, to get their agenda/one of their own in. Do you think we have 35 million voters with WeThePeople mindset that would send in $1 for Sarah?

Christie continued: "The fact that nobody yet who's running for president, in my view, has done that effectively is why you continue to hear people ask Daniels if he'll reconsider and ask me if I'll reconsider."

I don't think there has to be a big "rush" for the GOP candidates to say "where I want us to go to deal with this crisis" just yet. We have over a year before the election. Right now, all the candidates are worrying about is how to distinguish themselves from all the others running. There are the almost gratuitous hits on Obama, of course, but, until the field is winnowed down to the top two or three, no one is going to "show their hand" and address specifically what the electorate wants to hear about the present "crisis". I don't think we need ANOTHER moderate in the race.

Not so fast big guy! You haven’t even come close to fixing Jersey yet! Do something about Jersey first! Don’t just use your governorship as a springboard to become a presidential candidate!

It is likely this website will lead the charge to attack any and all candidates running who can actually win,

No, it's just you Perry trolls attacking Palin ad nauseum.

Chris Christie is good for soundbytes, but he's a gun grabber and he appointed a Muslim to be a Judge.

In those respects, he's running to the left of Obaama.

Is he pro-life?

Cheers!

Great. Just what the race needs, another liberal from a state the Repukes can’t win in any case.

Oh no no... wait a week after Christy announces. that way his entry bounce will be starting to fade a bit.

Using the word "bounce" in the same sentence as Chris Christie reminds me of Brunhilde from the movie Men in Tights.

Cheers!

Gosh. Perry is such an embarrassment that even Christie is reconsidering.....No he is no better but sheesh Perry is so horrible that Christie feels he can win.....lol. Perry would be a DISASTER for the GOP nomination. Obama is chomping at the bit to have to run against him.

“.... Perry trolls attacking Palin ad nauseum. “

Trolls, Trolls.
You know, you don’t own every thread just because you’re middle name is Palin. This is a Christie thread open to all. You are threatened by everyone running, particularly Rick Perry, because he rode a rocket, topping your faux candidate, all the way to the top of the polls and it rocked your world. Well brace yourself, bet he gets the nomination over Romney and that you will be shocked who all come out for him and support him. Just knot your britches because it is certainly coming. Oh, contrare’, Rick isn’t done.

Cain (my fav) ain’t gonna get it. Bachman won’t either. Perry lost my vote last debate. I’ll take Christie unless he’s also all for American’s paying tuition for illegal aliens.

I’ll have to look at his record, abortion? guns? illegal immigration?

I have a bad feeling, being from NJ that he won’t live up to my standards.
