Poll finds Obama approval at historic low [36%]
The Hill ^ | SEPTEMBER 23, 2011 | Justin Sink

President Barack Obama's approval ratings have fallen to a new low, with only 36 percent of Americans saying that they approve of the way he is handling his job overall, according to a new poll from the Economist/YouGov. A majority of Americans - 56 percent - disapprove of the president's performance.

Even more concerning for the president may be the news that top Republican candidates have moved within striking distance in head-to-head matchups. Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney trails Obama by just a 44 percent to 43 percent margin, while Texas Gov. Rick Perry trails 46 percent to 42 percent.

As has been the case in previous polls showing the president's slipping approval, Americans seem frustrated primarily in a souring economy. Only 30 percent of Americans strongly or somewhat approve of the president's handling of the issue. Fifity percent of Americans believe that the policies of the Obama Administration have hurt the economy, and 53 percent say that they have hurt the middle class.

Nor are they particularly convinced by the president's jobs bill push. More Americans believe that the bill would not create a substantial number of new jobs, and 64 percent of those polled say the president should be doing more to help create new jobs.

What happened to the Bin Laden bounce?

What happened to the Tucson bounce?

Well, the movie being made about Obama approving the mission to get Bin Laden will be in theaters on Oct. 12, 2012. That will certainly pump up the poll numbers, when the people see the Hollywood version of a courageous Obama green lighting the mission to get Bin Laden. And then they will be motivated to go out and vote for Obama.

But, what happens if that movie is a box office bust? Will enough liberals go see that movie multiple times to turn it into a “must see” box office smash?????

Somewhere along the way Barack’s approval numbers and the unemployment rate are going to meet up on a graph, then he’s going to be in neck deep fertilizer.

nobama’s poll numbers make no difference as long as “the plan” is being implemented.

Elections can be postponed, unemployment numbers can be manipulated, etc.

It’s good the be the king.

I feel the movie should be inundated with news questioning how it is that Al Quada knew which helicopter to take out in order to take out many of those Seals that captured Bin Laden. Obama was so anxious for a poll bounce that he put a target on the heads of these heros. He is not only stupid and inept, he is also dangerous! If re-elected, the damage this clown will do as a lame duck in frightening to even contemplate.

It took almost 3 years for 56% of the folks out there to figure out what damage an ACORN president would mean for America. We knew early in the 2008 campaign. Pray for America.

I want this chart to come up when the GOP nominee debates Obozo. "Mr. President, you've repeatedly said that the rich need to pay their fair share of taxes. (Just Google "Obama fair share" for the proof.) What, exactly, is that fair share? Mr. President, please tell the American people what percentage of the Federal tax burden ought to be paid by the highest 1% of wage earners?"

He will hem, haw, and refuse to answer the question, whereupon the GOP nominee can lay out the facts.

Fun observation: Palin trails Obama by 5%, which I read here on FR is proof that she is not electable. In contrast, Mitt and Rick trail by 1% and 4%, and they are serious candidates. I never realized how big a jump it is from 4% to 5%.

Given the nature of events throughout the past three years, one is forced to ask, “What kind of an utter moron could possibly STILL hold allegiance to this disastrous bungler in the White House???”
